One Minute Of Batman: Arkham City

Can you believe it's almost my birthday? it's almost time for the release of Arkham City?
Arkham City is coming out on the 21st of October (My birthday) and any footage of one of the most anticipated sequels of the year (and my most anticipated game of the year) is appreciated. Especially with recent comments from developers about how much bigger and vast the game is. So any trailer or gameplay footage is appreciated, especially when it involves Batman gliding or beating villains in an alleyway. Because it's what I was expecting, and I can't wait.

Knuffingen Airport: A Mindblowing Miniature World

I've seen miniature worlds, but I have never seen something this elaborate..This jaw dropping, fully automated airport was created as part of Hamburg's 'Miniatur Wunderland,' a miniature themepark with all kinds of incredibly detailed, automated replicas of cities and landmarks. Prepare to be in disbelief for about five minutes, the airport has so many elements working in harmony that its kind of insane. Day and night cycles, airplanes taking off and landing, luggage and catering trucks whizzing back and forth...Its a masterpiece in miniature.

11 More Minimalist Movie Posters By Olly Moss

(Via)
Olly Moss has been a favorite here at Awesomerobo for his awesome, simplistic poster redesigns that convey the most important core elements of the films in a graphic manner. There's a real beauty to the simplicity of some of these posters, and his usage of negative space to convey other elements (For example, the Robocop poster which you'll see after the break). Olly Moss continues to be as prolific as ever, and we look forward to seeing what else he comes up with. Check out 10 more posters after the break!

Wakeskating Win

This seems like the perfect video to send summer off: Summer watersports, sunny weather, and sweet tunes.  I think I'm officially a few days late for this, but okay.  Wakeskating is a variation of wakeboarding, where the rider is not strapped or bound to the board.  That means sweet tricks are plausible, even plentiful.  Closer to skateboarding than surfing, it's become fairly popular since the 90's.  Enough of this, to autumn, we march!

Meanwhile, In The Ghetto...

Part of me wants to laugh, part of me wants to shake my head (Really? Calling people out like that?).  But the bigger part of me appreciates this sort of homemade PSA.  If you ask me, though, whoever made this could have snazzed this up a bit.  I mean, red and orange Sharpies aren't that expensive.  Put some flames around "burning", and BAM!  Art.

I Am Alive Lives Up To Its Title

I Am Alive. A game originally announced at E3 2008 with nothing but anticipation and broken dreams for 3 years. Though after a long wait, Ubisoft has finally announced that I Am Alive will be coming out. But instead of a disk release, the game will be released via PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade treatment this winter.

The game takes place in Chicago after a 10.3 Mw earthquake destroys the city and the rescue team fails to save the survivors. You control Adam Collins, a middle-class man being forced to evade enemies, keep from becoming dehydrated, find his missing girlfriend and stay alive inside this crumbled city.

Originally the project was lead by Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond so we can expect the same open world stealth gameplay with what looks like a hybrid with Uncharted type gameplay. I'm excited, and I'm just hoping the download aspect doesn't hold back what looks like my most anticipated game of the year. But I'm holding reservations because I like to believe that I have learnt from the past. But we totally know I will never learn from my mistakes.

The Dance 360 Project

This awesome project by Ryan Enn Hughes set out to study incredibly contrasting dance styles, Krump and Ballet using a 360 degree camera system (Typically used for stuff like bullet time). Using a total of 48 Nikon D70 cameras layed out in a perfect circle, the director set out to capture the peak moments, ie the most extreme representations of that dance style and create a 360 degree essence of the dance form. Really cool concept brought to life by this unique presentation.  Check out 360 ballet and the behind the scenes after the break!

Star Trek: The Next Generation Blu-Ray Preview Is 1 Minute 40 Seconds Of Beauty

Star Trek: The Next Generation will always have a place in my sci-fi loving heart. Whilst the original had the heart and soul, I still remember my VHS collection (currently being cleaned out of my attic with much heart break) and sitting down in my parents bedroom, watching the show with my dad. Now, the entire show is coming out on Blu-ray with all new effects.

The blu-ray, like the blu-ray releases of Star Trek: The Original series, will come with the remastered versions of the episode in HD and the original effects in SD. Why? It's complicated but let me try and explain.

The original show was filmed on 16mm film but transferred to tape for airing and the Special Effects. They are having to go back and remake EVERY effect via the original film negative because video does not transfer to HD. They are taking the negatives, remastering them to HD and then remaking the effects from scratch. Make sense? No? Well, it's going to take a while for the entire set to be released. And it will be worth it. That sneak peak is giving me chills just thinking about it.

Star Trek: The Next Generation will be released in high-definition Blu-ray, starting in January with a sampler of several popular episodes, followed by a season-one set to be released later on in 2012, and subsequent seasons beaming down after that.

Zombinladen: The Axis Of Evil Dead

This awesome grindhouse trailer recently popped up for the inevitable Bin Laden zombie flick following his strange burial at sea. The flick looks awesome, but don't be holding your breath just yet. The trailer is a mockup that isn't in production. HOWEVER...If people were to share this trailer enough, you never know. And you know what, if these guys created a Kickstarter I'd probably chip in a few bucks. Kudos to Clement Deneux and his team for cranking out this awesome trailer in just 4 days!

Yaron Steinberg's Brain/City Project

The Israeli artist Yaron Steinberg created an amazing world based off his brain as part of his Brain/City project. Its a cool concept, mostly made out of cardboard, lights, and everything occupying his mind at different points in time. Its a pretty damn cool looking installation, featuring tons of greebled, extruded surfaces. Check out more work by Yaron here!

Universe Part 2 By Paul Robertson

Looks like Tom Nook is holding a dunkathon with every single videogame and anime characters from the last 30 years or so. Awesome piece by Australian pixel God, Paul Robertson.

How Not To Ski

A completely dry ski ramp?  Check.  Guy out of his mind?  Check.  Camera to capture the brilliance?  Check.  This dude is beyond lucky he didn't break his leg, or worse.

Disney Appmates 'Cars' Toys

iPads and tablet computers in general are the talk of the computing world. It was only a matter of time before they started aiming the product towards kids but at least they made it so darn cool.

Disney has released Appmates, small Hot Wheels-sized toys from the Pixar movie Cars, that physically interact with the multitouch screen on the iPad. The cars from Cars "drive" across the screen, with racing and other games reacting to the cars' movements. Disney calls the technology a "virtual play mat" where kids can experience the world of Radiator Springs. That's pretty darn cool.

The cars sell for $20 as a 2-pack, with the companion apps available for free. The toys go on sale next month. And for those parents who are starting to get worried it won't harm your iPad at all. Can't give that excuse to your kids anymore...

RoboGal's Weekly Cute Mixtape

Oh goodness, a toy for kitty to play with!  Probably not expensive, or anything.
Because everyone could use a hit of "omg, adoorrrrable!!" every once in a while, I bring you my weekly cute mixtape once again.

More "aww" after the jump!

American Juggalo: Your Subculture Documentary Of The Day

To say that Juggalos are misunderstood is an understatement...The Faygo loving, face painted, hardcore fans of the hip hop group Insane Clown Posse do not f*** around. Being a Juggalo is a lifestyle, a religion and everything in between, and the yearly Gathering Of The Juggalos is their Mecca...The ultimate in Juggalo fan fulfillment and a chance to meet other like minded individuals.

This awesome documentary by Sean Dunne explores the culture of ICP fans at the event, with interviews of fans from all walks of life. And hey, if you want to get some extra replay out of this documentary, I recommend you play a ICP flavored drinking game..Take a shot for every time you hear a Juggalo go 'WOO WOO' throughout this 23 minute documentary. A blackout is guaranteed.

Ready Steady Bang: 30 Ways To Kil A Cowboy

Ed Barrett created this playful set of animations for possible cowboy deaths in his iPhone game, Ready Steady Bang. The art style is as simple as the concept, a quick fire duel game relying on speed and an itchy trigger finger. Love the style, and its already available on the app store for one buck! Check it out.

So Nagata's Animation Reel: A New Form Of Anime

So Nagata recently uploaded his demo reel onto Youtube to showcase his incredibly unique 2d/3d hybrid animation style which uses a super refined cel shading technique. At times its hard to tell as to whether you're seeing scenes from a hand drawn anime versus a 3D rendered one, its that well done. As to why So uploaded his work recently, he explained it as a reply to a commenter on the Youtube video.

"Japanese 3dCG animation isn't worldwide famous yet. But Japanese 3DCG based on 2D Animation theory is a Japanese original and could be really interesting to watch. That's why I uploaded this. I am really pleased to know (that) my work can be seen to a lot of people in the world!"

Tommy Wi-Show Episode 1

So the first episode of Tommy Wiseau's video game show is online and it is exactly what you thought it would be. I still don't know what to make of it. The show is so bad but it may within the first show I was invested in everything I was watching; the poor acting, the poor set design and even cheap costume. If you liked the Room, I think you can endure this series.

Watch as Tommy presses the PS-Button and stumbles his speech in confusion!
See as he spams the kick-button in frustration!
Be stunned as he offends all womenkind!

Maybe it's just me, but I love Tommy Wiseau's childlike joy and frustration, and if you do too, you have just as bad taste as me.

Check after the jump for some additionally released footage.

Splinter Cell: Lightbulb Killer

FreddieW tackles a pretty funny aspect of the Splinter Cell videogames that never really made sense, but gamers accepted anyway. Aside from Sam Fisher wearing the equivalent of three incredibly unstealthy green flashlights on his head, the best way to remain undetected in that franchise was to shoot lights out in order to stay in the dark...But FreddieW points out just how stupid of an idea that would be in this video, among other things. A fun little poke at videogame logic.

Neo Japan

A fantastic concept rendition of a futuristic Japan by Singapore based artist Feng Zhu. This guy really needs to get a job doing work for Hollywood scifi features.

Aliens: Infestation...Time To Dust Off Your DS

Its been quite a few years since we've had a half decent game that tackled the Aliens franchise..The latest attempt by Sega, Alien Vs Predator turned out rather average..And you know what? It absolutely blows when people squander their chance to deliver a proper homage to a fantastic franchise. In a very random turn of events, Sega just recently released a brand new trailer for a DS title known as Aliens: Infestation...And no, not the underwhelming 3DS..We're talking DS classic. Its a strange move on their part, but after learning more about the game, the chances of myself picking up a copy just went up by 900%.

The game offers what appears to be a sidescrolling experience, but beefs it up with quicktime events, Castlevania/Metroid style exploration and a deep squad based system. And lets not forget, the game isn't toned down due to the system...Its an adult rated title with copious amounts of Xenomorph dismemberment, facehugger impregnation and a ton of dark, creepy settings reminiscent of the film. The fact that Sega chose not to scrap this game is a good sign, in my opinion. The game will be coming out on October 11, so mark your calendars for what will hopefully be a solid title that does the franchise justice.

Trophy Wife: Wolf

Gravity has failed Trophy Wife. The Oxford based group find themselves feeling upside down in this mellow, chill music video which reflects how I typically feel on Mondays. Great sound, and a great track to start your week. And if this is the first time you've heard Trophy Wife, they're up and coming...no doubt about it. Keep an eye out for these guys.

Playing Tetris in Minecraft

Minecraft video group MinecraftA2 have accomplished the impossible; They created a stop-motion version of Tetris in Minecraft, complete with a full scale, 175,000 block vintage Gameboy. I say impossible but it is only so for me because I have such a short attention span and I can barely finish a small building in Minecraft, let alone something as cool as this. Check out after the jump for a behind the scenes video of how they made this masterpiece!

Water Balloon to the Face Slow-Mo

Even in the name of science and awesomeness, I wouldn't take a water balloon to the face.  But this guy did, and it was a non-breaking water balloon, at that!  I'm glad he manned up and did it for us, because did you see how far that thing spread?!

Com Truise: Broken Date

Com Truise kind of falls in line with all the other retro electro groups that have been popping up as of late, with a decidedly vintage synth sound present in their work (Kavinsky comes to mind)..Thats not a bad thing, on the contrary...I think its pretty damn awesome that the sound of all the eighties electro pioneers is alive and well in 2011. Com Truise's latest retrofuturistic music video evokes memories of Bladerunner, Tron and all kinds of other eighties goodness, and the track is nothing short of an epic synth odyssey. Enjoy.

Epic 4,000 Person Dodgeball Showdown

I really have to say that these folks have the right idea. This gathering of 3,975 people (Not counting a ton of people who just decided to join in later) faced off at Thanksgiving Point, Utah for a Red Vs Blue showdown. Not sure if this broke some sort of record, but I absolutely had a blast watching this. I did not see a few hundred referees in the mix to make sure people weren't ignoring blows, but who cares..It was all in good fun. Bottom line is: Dodgeball is awesome, and we need to see a global professional league emerge for the sport.

Pumped Up Kicks

This is some of the coolest dubstep dance I've seen in a while here on the blog, featuring one of the members of the group going by the name 'Whzgud2' absolutely nailing a slower paced song with some smooth ass moves, amazing faux-mo slowmo, and master level pop locking. Check out another video by these guys: Dubstep Robot Meeting after the break!

Fact: Babies Are More Entertaining With Mustaches

This video truly came out from nowhere for me. Riva Starr's 'I Was Drunk' has been out for quite sometime; maintaining many listens from myself throughout the past year. This music video is unlike anything I would have expected for the song, but it's also better than anything I expected. Babies with mustaches, that should be enough in itself. How I managed to miss this is beyond my comprehension.

Doctor Who: Wedding Of River Song Preview

The Doctor MUST die. Have you figured it out yet? I've just clicked on to something that has made me feel oh so dumb that reveals the entire series. And this clip confirms it. But what about everyone else? Have you been watching this season? If not, for shame, you still have one week to catch up on the greatest run of the revised series of Doctor Who. And for everyone who has....here is a preview to keep you ticking till next week....

Tick Tock goes the clock, but the Doctor must die....

Freehand Profit's Awesome Adidas Stormtrooper Helm

(Via)
As part of a project called StarWars remix, which is an ongoing collaboration between various artists to create mixed media Star Wars pieces, the artist known as Freehand Profit created this sweet, full scale wearable Stormtrooper helmet. The helmet itself is made out of Adidas X Star Wars Superskate sneakers, which were a limited edition release. The item was sold on eBay recently and pulled in a final bid of $2,125. Pretty sweet. Check out two more images of Freehand Profit wearing his own creation.

Toyko Slow Mode

This cool music video was created as a tribute to Alex Lee's hometown of Japan..His use of post processing and some really cool editing brought this to a whole other level. The music is Flying Lotus ft. Thom Yorke of Radio Head: And The World Laughs With You.

The Raid: An Indonesian Action Tour De Force

We recently had this trailer submitted to us by Merantau Films, and I have to say...I think this movie would kick ass if it hit the big screen. The movie premiered on a limited release basis at various festivals, but has a tentative release date of January 19, 2012. The premise is pretty simple, an elite police force has to work their way up a 30 story building to defeat a dangerous crime lord in Jakarta, but they get way more than they could have ever expected. The trailer is a nonstop barrage of kickass action and solid choreography, and the movie generated some pretty amazing reviews at the Toronto film festival, garnering a 9.0 IMDB score from 190 viewers. It also turns out that Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda will be scoring the film, and judging from the trailer, he's doing a damn fine job. We're keeping our fingers crossed that Sony will do a limited release stateside when it comes out.

EDIT: We previously indicated in the title that this was a Malaysian movie, by error.  Sorry for the mistake, and thanks for the correction!

Team Fortress 2 Pip-Boy Comes Alive

A few weeks ago, Valve had a promotional offer that I couldn't resist. Buy Fallout New Vegas on Steam and you got it on sale price and a free item for Team Fortress 2, The Pip-Boy, which is modeled after the Pip-Boy 3000 from Fallout 3/New Vegas. Imagine the Pip-boy like a wrist watch, but instead of a calculator it makes for useful levelling in a nuclear holocaust-wasted land. The one complaint I had about the item was that it wasn't animated because when used the Engineer would not look at his arm when building an item but at his normal PDA layout with the selection of layouts. A minor complain on a otherwise awesome cosmetic item.

Cue now when I found out that modders saw my comments (and the millions of others), and decided to do something about it. Hence this link which will allow the animation of the Engineer to look at his arm whilst building. These animations replace the PDA's and work 24/7. It's the simple things in life that please me, people.

Rock Of Ages Giveaway: The Winners

We did the drawing last night and drew three winners out of the 55 entries we got for the competition. Ignas, Leon and Levmyshkin scored a Steam copy of Rock Of Ages..And here is what they had to say about the game on our 'Top Ten Reasons Why You Should Play Rock Of Ages.'

Check out who won after the break!

Batman: Year One...An Animated Entry Worth Watching

Forget The Dark Knight Returns. That's SO next year. This year it's all about Batman: Year One. We've shown you the trailer, now watch the first clip of the film.

Batman: Year One is based on the landmark 1987 DC Comics titles from 12-time Eisner Award winner Frank Miller and illustrator David Mazzucchelli. The film depicts young Bruce Wayne's (Ben McKenzie, Southland) return to Gotham City in his first attempts to fight injustice as a costumed vigilante. Featuring a young Lieutenant James Gordon played by Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) and Eliza Dushku as Catwoman, and with Video and executive producer Bruce Timm behind the helm, this is one movie you will NOT want to miss.

Batman: Year One arrives on Blu-ray and DVD October 18, although it can be purchased digitally through iTunes, Playstation Network, XBox Live, Zune, and Vudu beginning Oct 11.

This Animated 'Dexter' Intro Needs A Televised Appearance

Dexter Season 6 kicks off on October 2nd, so to celebrate this upcoming date animator, Ty Mattson created this amazing animated opening sequence. While it steers away from the creepy vibes the original sequence has (honestly one of my favorite television intros to date) it does go off in an almost equally enjoyable direction. Why don't you judge for yourself?

The Museum Of Obsolete Objects

Very cool concept for a Youtube channel, which recently went online a few weeks ago. The channel is dedicated to archiving obsolete inventions, with a vintage presentation style that really reminds me of those Dharma Initiative videos that used to pop up all the time in Lost. They also have a really cool Youtube channel setup that could best be described as severely pimped out. A subscribe is in order.

Apparat: Song Of Los

The German electro entity known as Apparat (Sacha Ring) just released a new music video from  his upcoming release, The Devils Walk which comes out on the 26th. Apparat's always been pretty experimental with his work, dipping into all kind of subgenres of electronica over the course of his career..But the music video seems to deliver the message that we might be seeing some sort of rebirth of the artist with this new album. Lets hope it pans out well.

The Alphabet 2

This fun little video was created as an experimental approach by the Italian design studio n9ve to explore alternative visual methods of teaching the alphabet. I loved the concept of visually presenting the meaning of the example word in the letter itself for each and every character. Its a really playful approach, that turned out really well in my opinion. On a side note, this isn't the first attempt that the studio tackled with this subject. Check out their first try after the break, featuring a cel animation approach for the letters.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo: Extended Trailer

In theaters recently, we saw the teaser trailer to the new American version of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".  Now we already have a newer, extended version.  Based on the Swedish novel by Stieg Larsson, the American adaptation follows the original Swedish version, which was released in 2009.  A remake, already?  Really?  I have my own opinions on Hollywood's need to remake non-American films (cough *subtitles aren't that difficult* cough *look how the 'Let The Right One In' remake turned out *cough*).  That being said, I'm not entirely opposed to seeing this.  I suppose I don't want to be one of those hipsters people.

iPhone controlled Cat Toy

Need another useless awesome toy/app for your iPhone?  Want to be able to play with your kitteh with minimal movement?  Well, yeah.  Then perhaps it's time you pre-order the Sphero.  Created by Orbotix, the Sphero is the first robotic toy ball, and from what we can tell, kitties love it.  The Sphero will be available later this year, on a first come, first serve basis.

The Best Moment Of Gears Of War 3

I've just finished playing Gears Of War 3, and picked up the Gears Of War 3 exclusive console. To put it in a nutshell, it was an amazing evolution of the Microsoft franchise and of the genre in general, but one thing I was not prepared for was this little detail, which I will automatically classify as the best moment in the franchise so far. I guess that doesn't say much for the series.

No spoilers, just enjoy this funny little easter egg thrown into the game for fun.

'The Other F Word' Is A Love Note For Fathers And Punk Rockers

This is a documentary I've heard a few things about, but now it's on it's way? I'm looking forward to it even more.

The documentry includes Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, Rise Against’s Tim McIlrath and follows Jim Lindberg, a 20-year veteran of the skate punk band Pennywise, on his hysterical and moving journey from belting his band’s anthem “F—k Authority,” to embracing his ultimately authoritarian role in mid-life: fatherhood.

In terms of other dads featured in the film, which was Executive Produced by Morgan Spurlock & Jeremy Chilnick, The documentary also includes Art Alexakis (Everclear), Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo), Tony Adolescent (The Adolescents), Fat Mike (NOFX), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), skater Tony Hawk, and many others. This is my play-list almost every day, so of course I'm sold!

“The Other F Word” screens first in New York and Los Angeles, then hits theaters across the country in November and December. Check out if it's coming to a cinema near you soon after the break.

So I Heard You Like Cosplay

This is what happens when you film Cosplayers with a nice, expensive camera and focus on only the best of the best. You get a feel good reel of people having a damn good time paying tribute to characters they love. I think we should all take a field trip to Dragoncon next year if the fanfare is this amazing..That parade close to the end looked like a damn blast! In case you were wondering what the track was, its 'Supernatural Love' by Digikid84.

The Office Escape

This sweet video concept piece probably took a few hints from the sweet first person parkour/fps hybrid Mirrors Edge, but with male suits, featuring a day at the office gone terribly awesome. For some reason, I think a movie filmed from a heads eye view would turn out absolutely amazing with some well choreographed fights. The video was created to debut the Biting Elbows' track 'The Stampede.' Check out their EP here!

6 Rope Sculptures By Mozart Guerra

(Via)
Styroforam and nylon rope, the two basic building block for the Paris based Brazilian artist, Mozart Guerra. I mean, I can understand building a styrofoam base, but adding layer after layer of rope in such a meticulous, intricate fashion just blew my mind..This man must have the patience of a saint. Beautiful work nonetheless..Check out 5 other examples of Mozart's rope sculpture work after the break!

Tim Exile: Family Galaxy

This music video by for Tim Exile's Family Galaxy turned out pretty damn fantastic...Absolutely loved the concept of two dimensions merging together mixed with the dissonant, unpredictable, yet epic noise of Tim Exile. Check it out and see if its your cup of tea.

Resident Evil: Revelations TGS Trailer

Resident Evil: Revelations is coming out for the 3DS, which means that unpractical hairstyles are a must. Judging from the trailer, they intend to make sure that you experience every meticulously modeled hair strand coming out at you.

With every announcement and trailer my interest for the title has been growing, and with a very Saw like set-up this looks like it might be a pretty cool new installment of the Resident Evil franchise. Hope it'll be better than RE:5.

Tron Lightcycle 2.0: New And Improved

Parker Bros. Choppers previously came out with a full-scale Electric Lightcycle.  It's been re-worked a bit, and has now become a real, street legal piece of bad-assery.  It's pure, unadulterated, lithium ion powered piece of geeky awesomeness at it's finest.  Want one for yourself?  Of course you do.  Parker Bros. is unbelievably enough, currently doing a giveaway of one of these bad boys. Go to their website here for more details.

The Art Of Eric Kirchmer: What Gives?

(Via)
Eric Kirchmer has been with Valve since 2001, working as a 3d modeler/visual designer on projects including Half Life 2, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, Portal and a plethora of other projects. However, some new images recently popped up in his portfolio, featuring a mysterious game that from what I can tell, has never been announced let alone even teased.

The game, simply titled "Working Title" features retro/70's aesthetics mixed with some kind of alien infestation motif, kind of like the original Alien. At first I though it might have been Alien Swarm...but judging from the deeply futuristic aesthetics of the final product, this just might be something completely different. See for yourselves after the break, as well as some really cool Team Fortress 2 art! If you guys have any theories to share, we'd love to figure this out as much as you.

Ghost In The Shell: 1.0 VS 2.0

It was kind of cool to be reminded of this truly classic piece of Anime, which probably went on to inspire countless artists, movies(The Matrix comes to mind), and probably even Deus Ex: Human Revolution in one way or the other. This movie at its time was probably the anime equivalent of the cyberpunk masterpiece that preceded it, Bladerunner.

This video focuses on the differences between the classic intro from the first GITS and the enhanced 2.0 release which came out a few years ago (And by enhanced, it just looks better..No pointless extra scenes). To think that all of this was hand drawn at the time is pretty damn insane..They don't make feature length animated movies like they used to.

Doctor Cat Is An Art Critic

She must be blind. I only see four whiskers.
I'd have to agree with Dr. Cat, he looks way more handsome than that. If you haven't had the chance to check out Sarah Sobole's awesome webcomic about a Doctor Cat(let's not forget the MD), you're seriously missing out. Go check out the comic meowwww!!!

The New UCB Midnight Show Sketch Bares It All (NSFW)

If The Midnight Show was only good at one thing, it would be ending a sketch in the least predictable way possible. Lucky for us, ending a sketch isn't the only thing they're good at. If you don't like looking at fleshy parts, I suggest you don't watch this. Otherwise, prepare for a treat.

IAM8BIT Roombas

Now this is how you market a damn Roomba to people like me. These custom Roombas were created as a fun addition to the already 100+ pieces for the videogame tribute show iam8bit, and featured Goombas, Octoroks and the dreaded Green and Red Homing Shell from Mario Kart. Pretty awesome way to combine plush art and utility in one fell swoop! These guys wander around the Los Angeles HQ of iam8bit and clean the 4,500 or so square feet of the venue. Hook us up!

Sculptures Of Red Nose Studio

(Via)
Chris Sickels is the man behind Red Nose Studio, a one man illustration machine with a truly original approach to illustrative work. Originally trained as a painter with sculpture as a side hobby, his style grew to incorporate both elements for creating some truly striking images that grace magazine articles and covers on a regular basis. Starting with sketches, moving on to painted compositions, and finally a sculpted, built and photographed final image...Chris really has a style unlike anything we've seen in months of scouring various artist portfolios. Beautiful colors, strong compositions and unique sculptures really give his images a strong visual identity. Its true what they say about art, styles never stop evolving, and you never stop learning. Check out 7 more images from Red Nose Studios after the break!

Cyriak's Trident Ads

We're glad to see that Cyriak's been keeping busy with all kinds of commercial works. We've covered him a half dozen times or so here on the blog, and recently went to his Youtube channel to see what he's been cooking up. Despite there being no updates to his main accounts, we noticed he'd been adding some fun ads he's done for a Trident 'Senses' gum campaign called Pointlessfun, which seemed to be mainly for South American audiences. Heck, as long as he keeps cranking these out, we can't complain. 2 more wtf worthy videos by Cyriak after the break!

Giant Lightsaber Rules Over London

May the Force Be In London (Via)
The BT tower is a huge building in the middle of London known to hold many events. Now it is known as a giant lightsaber.

In honour of the new Star Wars Blu-ray release, a star-studded party at the very top of the BT Tower. This meant they turned on the lights and the guests spent the occasion mingling below a bright blue light beaming up into the night sky. It looked pretty, and made for some pretty sweet photographs.

But hey, no Awesomerobo Star Wars article is complete without us taking a stab at Lucas..

This video perfectly conveys the mental anguish that the staff at Awesome-Robo experiences every time we receive news about 'improvements' to the original trilogy. FEEL OUR PAIN.

The Rock Of Ages Giveaway! And 10 Reasons Why You Should Be Playing This Game

Its been a while since I've played a game that turned out to be so worth the $10 I spent on it that I nearly felt bad for paying so little. Rock Of Ages delivers on all fronts, with a fantastic and humorous art style, great music and some of the most addictive gameplay I've encountered this year. We loved it so much that we've teamed up with ACE Team to promote the game, and want to ask you guys to spread the word about this amazing indie title.

As part of the promotion, we're giving away three Steam unlock codes for the game too! All you have to do is leave a comment with a valid email address stating what you love the most about Rock Of Ages. The winners will be announced on Friday. Check out our guide for the top 10 reasons we love this game after the break!

Kid Savant: Four Years Is Pretty Kickass

Ah...Nothing like starting off your week with a music video featuring guys skydiving with furniture, looks pretty damn therapeutic. And the chill indie/electro sound of Kidsavant is perfect for getting over those Tuesday blues. If you liked the music video, do yourself a favor and give these guys a like on Facebook and share the video wherever you can;  In my opinion it deserves at least another 989,000 views. I mean seriously, how many bands do you know that jump out of a damn plane strapped into couches? They are going all the way for their music, and that's something I can appreciate. Looking forward to seeing these guys blow up sometime soon.

Daft Punk And The DeLorean: Face To Face

Life is good. (Via)
Its absolutely badass to see two things I love: Daft Punk and a DeLorean meet face to face (Get the reference?). Courtesy of the up and coming prop maker known as Volpin Props (Go checkout his blog, NOW) and photographer Dan Almasy..This is one hell of an awesome photo shoot. Volpin props has worked on everything from Mass Effect rifles, to high end Soul Calibur cosplay projects, to perfect replicas of the Daft Punk outfits and helmets. I've been following his progress on his Facebook page, and it been pretty satisfying to see the four month Daft Punk replica project conclude like this. Check out 9 more images from the shoot after the break!

Project Gouken: We Want More

This is one badass, Street Fighter flavored little animation, featuring the work of a talented French Animator called Laurent Rossi, who runs a little blog called L4Draw, and happens to be a student of the fantastic 'Les Gobelins' art school. The short features the hilariously overpowered (In my opinion) Gouken teaching his younger brother, Akuma a lesson. Matt Timms did the awesome FX work that gave all the blows that extra oomph, kudos! My only complaint is...I WANT TO SEE MORE. Mr. Rossi, I demand a 5 minute version with a little more story. This is too awesome to simply be a contained, 15 second short..There's too much potential here. Check out the making of after the break!

The Pizza Destroyer

(Via)
There's no denying it:  Pizza is awesome.  It's amazing, and it should be in my mouth on a regular basis.  If we stop relishing in the cheesy goodness, then the terrorists have truly won.  I've been known to enjoy the random Bagel Bite, or the sporadic Pizza Bite.  But... all at once...??  Mind = blown.  Stomach = Blown.

The Illusionist

I really wasn't aware that Sylvain Chomet, of 'The Triplets Of Belleville fame had released a new animated feature, let alone been nominated for an Academy Award for his newest work. Unfortunately the flick, called "The Illusionist" was never released in US theaters on a wide release basis..Which kind of blows my mind. The movie, which centers around a magician made obsolete by upcoming forms of entertainment is absolutely beautiful looking, with an art style that oozes charm and gorgeous, hand drawn animation.

Well thanks to our French reader Gerard W. for letting us know that this beautiful looking animated feature exists, and is available for purchase on Bluray. We'll be picking a copy up for sure. In case you haven't seen the Triplets Of Belleville either, check out the trailer after the break!

Timelapse: Earth

This timelapse to end all timelapses was capture from the hull of the ISS space station during an orbit around the dark side of the Earth. The video description states that the timelapse begins over the Pacific Ocean and concluded near Antarctica. Seeing what lightning storms look like from space is pretty epic, as well as watching the break of daylight slowly creep over the curvature of the earth.

Osaka City Station Water Fountain

All I can say after watching this is...Why haven't more cities installed these awesome water fountains? I had no idea that water fountains could turn into displays like that, showing off patterns, text and the time of day with such clarity. This display is present at one of the largest train stations in Osaka, north of Tokyo.

8 Retrolicious Pieces From The Old School Videogame Show

Dig Dug...Vinyl and plushy enemy. (Via)
If you happen to be in LA, looks like Gallery 88 is going to be putting up a really cool tribute to old school videogames, with different artists tribute pieces to all the videogames that defined our childhoods. Despite the kind of generic name, the show is going to feature a ton of original work from different artists in all kinds of mediums. We picked a few cool ones from the nearly 120 original pieces at the show to show off, check out 7 more pieces after the break!

Primal Carnage: The Jurassic Park Game That Never Was

18 years after the release of Jurassic Park, looks like a game studio finally decided to wise up and create a multiplayer experience pitting humans vs dinosaurs. It looks like it could be a pretty fun gameplay experience, although it did seem like the dino faction was completely kicking human ass for the majority of the video..Kind of curious how they're going to balance the factions out. The guys behind Primal Carnage, Lukewarm studios (Interesting choice) are a collective of indie developers from around the world that collaborate to create cool games with a smaller scope. The game is opening beta registrations pretty soon, so keep an eye out for updates on their website.

A Star Wars Adult Parody That Excels The Blu-Ray Releases

This SFW trailer is another adult parody I would totally watch. But unlike the others, it couldn't have come out at a better time when people just have Star Wars on the mind.

It captures the tone and feel of the original, and has a feel of it's own. Star Wars has never been so captivating!

Tropics: Mouves

Two members from the Tropics band engage in an all out footrace through the streets of Japan and just about every urban setting imaginable. Its a fun music video, especially considering the fact that the locals act like they don't notice the existence of these two gaijin running around with no particular objective. The track itself has a really summer-y feel to it, and adds to the dreamy ambience of the music video. If you like the sound, turns out these guys are releasing their debut album tomorrow for only $10! Check em out on Planet Mu.

Sweet Steampunk Joystick

Created by b15sdm on the Shoryuken.com forums (Via)
This awesome custom joystick was built by one of the fighting game enthusiasts over at the Shoryuken forums. As well as being stuffed full of legit clock pars, copper piping, and a sweet see through plexiglass body..The buttons also light up on activation. However, the peripheral does not emit steam on cooldown. Check out a ton of closeup images, including the badass stick after the break!

5-Second Films: Special Edition

In honour of the latest Star Wars release, 5 Second-Films (one of my personal favourite youtube channels) have been doing a week-long masterclass in digital trickery and filmic enhancery by taking old 5-second films skits and making them in Brian Firenzi's true vision. Check it out, as I'm sure you'll enjoy the new clips much better than the shockingly bad originals!

Portal is free (Until September 20th)

Now you're thinking with science! (Via)
As part of Valve’s Learn With Portals initiative, which aims to promote Portal’s reality bending puzzles as an educational tool, Valve have released the Steam version of Portal for free. You have until the 20th of September, so it's not on for long! You also no longer have an excuse for not playing this game.

Neon Indian's New Single 'Polish Girl' Is Awesome

Neon Indian's Psychic Chasms, is possibly my favorite chilout album since Gorillaz's Plastic Beach. The new album, Era Extraña, was released on the 13th of this month and it's definitely worth a majority of your music listening time if you dug the first album. The new album really takes things in an entirely different direction by taking a firm collection of lo-fi/chiptune-esque beats and mixing with Neon Indian's distinct 'chillwave' style. It's an amazing thing which is displayed perfectly in the track above, 'Polish Girl'. If the sound doesn't fit your musical taste, you'll at least enjoy the futuristic love story between one's reality and a virtual representation of their desires.

Doctor Who And The Cozy Cat House

TARDIS is PURRFECT (Via)
Whilst the new series plays a game of Cat & Mouse with the Doctor and his inevitable death, how about a look at the lighter side of the show, like fan creations?

This is a half-sized TARDIS replica created by Astromark, from Tardis Builders. The inside contains a wonderful cat play area and the outside is a fantastic TARDIS replica that would make a great conversation point. Is it bigger on the inside? Only one way to find out, and it's after the jump.

Ultimate Spider-Man Invades Gaming Market

Spider-man goes new-school y'all. (Via)
Today marked the release of Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli's Ultimate Spider-Man #1 featuring the brand new Ultimate Spider-man Miles Morales. What better way to celebrate than by announcing alternate costumes for video games!

When Spider-Man: Edge of Time arrives on October 4th, the costume will be playable and seems to be unlockable in-game.

Kids Players of the Marvel Super Hero Squad Online game will have to enter a piece of art to be able to win one of just 30 of the new Ultimate Spider-Man costumes. Check out the full art of both after the jump.

Countdown

This gorgeous animated work by Celine Desrumaux is a wonderful piece about the moments leading to takeoff, from every perspective possible. I absolutely loved the style, colors, and choice of music (Granulard Bastard By Apparat) used to create the narrative. Fantastic stuff.

43,280 Piece Lego Star Destroyer Is Mind Blowing

Holy...This 8 foot long, 180 pound monster is a replica of the Venator Class Star Destroyers, which was featured in the Clone Wars. The detail, the craftsmanship and scale of this thing are just unbelievable. How much did this thing cost to make? At an average price of .09 a piece per Lego (The average price per piece of Lego bricks), the total cost of such a piece would come out to $3870 in parts. Our hats go off to you, Iomedes..When it comes to building Lego models, you don't f*** around.

Check out some amazing detail shots of the ship after the break!

Tape Generations

6 months of work went into creating this incredibly unsettling, stop motion tape animation..The sound treatment on this piece is just awesome. Absolutely love how Johan Rijpma gave such a simple subject so much life with his interesting shots and compositions. David Lynch would be proud.

The Tommy Wi-Show: Tommy Wiseau Plays Video Games

I never thought I would see this day. Tommy Wiseau, creator of the famous cult film The Room engages in a no-holds-barred struggle against mysterious alien forces and a million different video games in this new weekly series that's part talk show, part video game reviews, and infinite amounts of weird sci-fi insanity in a show produced by Studio8.net.

I must admit, the idea of Tommy Wiseau doing a MST3K type show involving video games is interesting to me, and I am intrigued as to how it will work and play. Especially considering Tommy seems like the kind of man who has never watched a movie, let alone played a video game.

The Busted Pixel: The Gunstringer

Currently, Twisted Pixel has taken the place of my favorite developer. Each game the team has pushed out I've fallen in love with, not just for the fun gameplay, but the fact that each entry is laugh-out-loud funny. With the teams newest release The Gunstringer (Twisted Pixel's first Kinect/retail game) we felt it was time to show our support the only way we knew how. WITH SKETCH!

Danger Planet

Southern Adventist University student, Justin Burks created this adorably stylish short. While a bit on the cliche side of things, I couldn't help but being tricked by it's charm. It's a fun short which really shows the hard work put in by these animation students.

From Concept To Sculpture: Toi Ogonyuku Jr

Found via Toi Ogonuku's FB page (Via)
This is one of the damn coolest sculpts I've seen in a long time, based off a piece of art that Kemp Remillard (A Massive Black artist) created a few years ago. Considering that he only had a sketch to work with, I think Toi did an insanely good job on recreating the concept and fleshing out all the details, with a jaw dropping attention to detail. Every tiny detail, fold and crease is accounted for.

Toi has done a ton of amazing sculpts, including recreations of Blaster Master from Mad Max, Mondoshawan from Fifth Element, various vehicles from the Aliens series and a ton more work; Unfortunately his portfolio website has been down for a while. Nonetheless, check out the concept he worked from after the break, as well as a ton more shots of the sculpt from different angles.

KidRobot Kickin' It Old School With All City Breakers

All City Electric Boogaloo (Via)
I've always loved plastic army men, and I like Kid Robot's train of thought on this mini product line, featuring breakdancing min figurines, armed with boomboxes and sick moves. These guys are landing on September 15th, and will sell for $1.95 a pop! Build your own army in four delicious flavors..Neon pink, green, orange and blue. My proposal for a rare All City Breaker after the break.

Syndromes: MOTHER

Despite my initial impressions, this isn't footage created exclusively for a music video, but actually from a film coming out October 10 called "Syndromes" by Kristoffer Borgli and Golden Filter, the band behind the amazing track present in this video (Mother). The details are pretty scant at this point as to the extent of the collaboration between the band and the filmmaker, but I'll be marking the date on my calendar. The moody atmosphere and implied narrative have me pretty damn intrigued. The subtle shot of the mysterious girls hair starting to raise at 0:26 gave me some serious chills. This isn't going to end well.

Immram: The Voyage Of The Corvus Corrone Promises An Epic Musical Experience

Love the concept behind this release of a supposedly 'lost' progressive rock album, recently unearth and remastered with really cool artwork and steampunk aesthetics. The supposed story behind the album is that the album originally was delivered anonymously to an obscure record label in Paris called "Akashic Records" in Paris back in 1975, but through a series of strange events the record never saw the proper light of day. Its a fantastically crafted tale with a lot of thought and work put into it, and for that we love it.

They even created a  64 page book for the physical edition featuring art, notes and insights into all the mysterious happenings that surrounded the album. If you're into prog rock and looking to get entangled in an epic story, as well as experiencing music from an age long gone....Check out the website for tons of track samples, lore and beautiful art.

"Brake Block": A Minecraft Parody

This video, created by an 11 year old, is a sweet nod to two things girls love: Minecraft & Pop-songs. I always find it weird when popular culture, kids & video games meet, especially when it brings out the creativity in kids that allows them to make such a sweet video.

So enjoy this parody of Minecraft and Kesha and remember that the new update is out, so give it a download and play!

The Cintiq 24HD Tablet Is Over The Top

If you work in any type of graphics, art or related field...This next generation of Wacom's touch sensitive monitor equipment is about 70% sleeker and 30% more functional, offering a widescreen drawing experience weighing in at a whopping 65 pounds. In terms of specs, its got an impressive 1920x1200 resolution, 550:1 contrast and 2048 degrees of pen sensitivity, and will set you back $2500. The new offering will be making its premiere in stores sometime in October, and will probably be the perfect purchase for serious Starcraft 2 players (I kid). Time to update the wishlist.

Ashley Wood's ThreeA Toys Pays Tribute To Steve Jobs

In case you haven't heard of 3A toys, you've been missing out..If you've got deep pockets to collect this type of stuff. Run by the pretty famous comic book artist/illustrator Ashley Wood, (who possesses an expressionist art style that is unlike anything we've ever seen) 3A makes high end, designer toys based off Ashley Wood's properties.

The figures are typically 1/6th scale, insanely articulated and usually retail for $200 up as well as typically being released in limited runs. This pretty much means these bad boys sell out instantly. For the most recent 1/6th scale line (For the bots called 'Caesar' from Ashley's World War Robot line), one of the 'secret' robot designs pays tribute to Apple's former visionary, Steve Jobs..Pretty cool in our book. If you want to attempt to get your hands on one of these massive figures, you can try your luck at 9am Hong Kong time on September 14th on the Bambaland store. Check out the rest of the variants after the break!

Invisible Tanks One Step Closer To Becoming A Reality

This is pretty badass....Using an awesome tech called 'Adaptiv,' tanks and other vehicles will be undetectable using infrared detection of vehicles at night. If you don't know the broad range that Infrared technology covers, this means thermal sensors, night vision and pretty much every system used for military surveillance. As well as having that capability, the ability to change the temperature in the plates will screw with heat seeking missile guidance capabilities.

The only problem is that the 'cloak' is pretty much useless during the day, and won't prevent soldiers from detecting vehicles with this tech using the naked eye. Nonetheless, its a step in the right direction, and will definitely be beneficial for lowering the chance of detection of vehicles in hostile situations. Pretty damn cool, and I look forward to seeing this tech featured in the next Metal Gear.

RoboGal's Weekly Cute Mix-Tape

Happy Tuesday, all!  Time to forget that the weekend is another 4 day away, and amuse yourself with cute sh*t. Don't forget to send me your original submissions, awesomerobogal@gmail.com!

The Upright Citizens Brigade Encourages You To Drive Recklessly

The Upright Citizens Brigade Midnight show does it again, this time making fun of those overly melodramatic AllState Insurance commercials that go for the shock factor to hock overprice car coverage. However, in this instance we are asked, what if there are such things as 'happy accidents?' The twist would make M. Night Shyamalan proud. Bonus ad after the break!

20 Game Of Thrones House Posters

Damn Lannisters..up to no good. (Via)
With what house does your allegiance lie? This beautiful, minimalist poster series was created by Thomas Gateley of LiquidSoul Design to showcase the vast collection of factions and their allegiances from George R.R. Martin's epic 'A Song Of Fire And Ice' series. If you've only been watching the HBO show, 'Game Of Thrones' is only the first book out of seven in the series, so lets keep our hopes up and fingers crossed for all seven seasons getting greenlit. Check out 19 other posters after the break!

Fist Of The Dead Star

Now this is how you sell a few copies of Dead Island. I was kind of on the fence about the game, seeing that it was getting some mixed reviews from users, but I'm completely sold now. If I can go around on a resort island pummeling zombies to shreds with furious fist barrages like Ken from Fist Of The North Star(Aka the manliest anime character ever conceived, period), this game deserves my $50. Unintentional viral marketing at its best.

Kanamara Matsuri(かなまら祭り): The Fertility Festival (NSFW)

I recently heard about the Kanamara Matsuri festival (aka Steel Phallus) during an interesting conversation at a bar..And decided to kind of look into it. Despite thinking that someone was simply messing with me, turns out that this Shinto fertility festival is anything but fiction. The festival is held in Kawasaki, Japan on the first Sunday of each April, and centers around phallic imagery. The shrine is intended as a place to help boost fertility, maintain harmony in relationships and help business.

Fun fact: Turns out that one of the items at the shrine (An iron phallus) was supposedly created by a blacksmith to break the teeth of a sharp toothed demon who hid inside a girls privates...That's right, the legend of the vagina dentata originated in Japan, and probably inspired the 2007 movie called 'Teeth' about a girl with some seriously messed up junk.

Deus Ex: Vending Machine Revolution

I'm just about done with Deus Ex, and I remember overhearing this conversation, before taking everyone out with stealthy takedowns and tranquilizer rounds. I thought nothing of it, just another casual conversation between two guards about death by vending machines. Unlike myself, Youtube user TippingForties knew that the conversation wasn't a mere coincidence, and proceeded to find the closest vending machine and give that conversation some serious significance, to the epic music of Ennio Morricone. Pure magic.

Mega64: MADDEN RAP 2012 (ft. Brandon DiCamillo) (EXPLICIT)

Mega64 reminds us why Madden is the greatest gaming franchise of all time with NSFW lyrics and one of the most amazing cameos yet. Brandon DiCamillo, of CKY & Jackass fame pops in and helps the Mega64 crew educate the world on the biggest game release this fall; the first Madden game in 11 months.

Upper Class Children's Fund PSA

If you think you've seen heartbreaking PSA's before, just you wait.  Right here, on our own streets, are kids from well-off families, in desperate need of drug money.  What if it was your child, bored at home on a Thursday night?  All he needs is a little weed, maybe something more.  And it's up to YOU to help him.  Please, don't look away, call now.

The Original Crispy Bowl

The weekend was made for sofa-dwelling, TV-watching, cereal-eating folks like me.  Getting to the last bite, however, is not quite as satisfying as those first few, crisp bites.  The Obol could possibly be the greatest thing to happen to cereal since the creation of Just Bunches (okay, that's really just my not-so-humble opinion).  At $19.99 it may be a little pricier than your run-of-the-mill bowl, but I think it has the potential to pay for itself in continued cereal crunch.

Kitty Loves His Massager

Sorry if the title misled you.  It's not my fault that you have a dirty, dirty mind.  Anywho, Merlin the kitty is introduced to the love of his life, the massage machine.  Happiness and harmony follows, and all is well in this feline's world.  Since it's Sunday, try to be as equally relaxed.

Pokemon Dream Come True.

Everytime I play Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/Fire Red/Leaf Green/Gold/Silver/Heart Gold/Soul Silver I hear the voice of Professor Oak, AKA Stuart Zagnit. Web show Underbelly has managed to capture my childhood dreams....for a second time.

If you want to know what my brain sounds like when playing Pokemon? It sounds a little something like this video, but with more Pikachu.

Minecraft 1.8 Leaks At The Source

From The Source People (Via)
The new Minecraft Update, 1.8, which brings the beginning of Adventure mode and that final step towards the final version of the game? Turns out it got leaked by an evil leaker. Who works for Notch. By the name of Notch. You can download the official leak here, or wait for Monday for Slender Man, new animations and the final version that will be sure to bring Adventure to the game. See what I did there?
