Batman: Arkham City Goes To The Future And Beyond

Arkham City gets a futuristic infusion with this exclusive skin. (Via)
So remember the Batman: Arkham City Robin downloadable DLC that was pre-order only with Gamestop? Turns out they have more offers under the belts, and it goes far beyond Robin, and into the future.

Fans of the newer Batman games, those who pre-order Batman: Arkham City from the European Gamestop online store will get a free Batman Beyond skin for their troubles. If you didn't know, the series is about teenager Terry McGinnis as a new Batman in a futuristic Gotham City under the tutelage of an elderly Bruce Wayne. And if you haven't seen it, you must. The series is just as dark and just as well written as the Batman Animated Series (And produced by Bruce Timm, creator of both).

Will this skin add any gameplay enhancements? Or is it just a cosmetic replacement, and will there be more unlocked throughout the game? We'll see soon enough...

Avenger Trailers Spoils Captain America; Excites Geeks

If you don't want to know what happens at the end of Captain America? Then look away and don't watch this teaser. Whilst it doesn't contain ALL the footage from the actual teaser, it does have most of the ending of Captain America (though if you don't already know what happens you obviously have never read the comic book).

But if you don't want to pay for the cinema ticket (which I highly suggest you do, because Captain America was pretty amazing), then you can watch this small tease and be happy knowing that there aren't any other Avengers related clips at the end of the Captain America. Or are there? Only one way to find out. Take the spoiler plunge!

Making Of A BMW 3 Series

I've never been terribly interested in talking about cars, but this timelapse of the making of a BMW 3 series is pretty damn fascinating. A camera placed inside and alongside the car tracks the process of assembly for one white BMW. Its kind of dizzying seeing how much conveyor belt travels on, and the sheer amount of people who each do their own task meticulously. That's German engineering for you.

The Dark Knight Rises: Bane Leaks Surface

It was only a matter of time before set pictures began to surface, and that time has finally arrived. These photos by Jared Winslow are from the set of The Dark Knight Rises, all of which can be seen after the break. There's possible spoilers after the break, one of which may be bigger than the rest(which I've conveniently saved for last).

Hit the jump for the images in all their high-quality glory. That and prepare for speculations!

Warning: Creativity Is A Slippery Slope

Well, I can safely say falling asleep will be a bit of a chore for the next few days. THIS IS IT films has brought something truly uncomfortable onto us, which I must say, is extremely creative. Give this a watch, but it's definitely not as innocent as it implies early on. That song is damn catchy though.

Deus Ex

With the release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution just a mere weeks away, its nice to see the Mega64 guys up to their usual, showing off their very own 'superior tribute' to Deus Ex, and crashing a Human Revolution panel in the process. Their interpretation of video game lip syncing, circa eleven years ago absolutely cracked me up. I can't even imagine what that Best Buy employee must have thought. Can't wait to see what these guys come up with next, and I do hope they add trench coats to every playable character in Human Revolution.

Pay Attention To Me!

"Hey!  Hey, you!  Look at me.  LOOK AT ME!  You jerkface, put your stupid phone away for like, 5 seconds, and give me some love.  Or food.  I'll take what I can get, but for the love of all that is fluffy and just, stop ignoring me!!"

Zac Gordman Understands Proto Man

While Capcom seems to be leaving the Mega Man series out to dry, Zac Gordman from Magical Game Time is still representing. This is probably my favorite piece out of Zac so far, it's the perfect insight on Proto Man's life, which still remains somewhat mysterious even after appearing in over 10 games. I'm amazed out how sad this comic makes me, it's simply beautiful.

Batmath: The Dark Equation

(Via)
I always knew Bruce Wayne, the master detective was good at math. This goes way over my head, but I'm sure some of you math dorks out there will appreciate it more than me.

Tiji: Color

This fluidly animated short covers the colorization of a black and white forest before our eyes into a vibrant, colorful one. Everyone seems pretty pleased, except a panda..Who finds himself pretty bummed out at the non-colors he was given. Fun concept, great execution by the French animation studio known as Akama.

Gundam Zaku Gets The Ashley Wood Treatment

The original sketch design for the Zaku toy. (Via)
In recent news, the amazing Australian artist known as Ashley Wood, who has done everything from Metal Gear comics, to beautiful oil paintings to creating his amazing premier toy company (ThreeA) just recently released some images of his stunning take on the Gundam Zaku mech design. The iconic mechs were the main unit for the faction known as the Principality Of Zeon in the Gundam series. If you think the sketch is badass, check out 7 images of the actual 12inch figure that was created for display at the Bandai booth during the last Hong Kong Hobby Fair after the break. Its jaw droppingly cool.

Bjork Returns With Crystalline

Bjork is back, and she's found a definite way to deliver a style that is reminiscent of Bjork with some bells and whistles that make it relevant in this day and age. By adding some furious drum and bass beats to accompany her voice at the right time during the song, the track is elevated to heights I've never seen Bjork reach in the last ten years. And with the addition of the fantastic stop motion music video directed by Michelle Gondry, this music video is the full package. I haven't been this surprised by her work since her amazing 'Army Of Me' music video back in the mid nineties. We can only hope that the rest of her new album will hit notes as high as this track with the listeners.

Nyan Cat Gets The Papercraft Treatment

Go Nyancat go! No matter the medium, you must keep spreading your rainbow Poptart goodness across the galaxy. This amazing papercraft contraption was created by the user ddi7i4d (Its not a typo, lol) over on Deviantart. Want to make one yourself? Just print out the papercraft here and follow the instructions to get your very own, hand cranked Nyancat on your desk. Nyan!

I Think He's Scared

At first I was going to poke fun at this dude for screaming his soul, guts and more out while on a catapult ride.  But then I remembered, "Oh hey, RoboGal, you would never ride such a thing, so you can just STFU."  That being said, I'm not sure who's more entertaining: The guy screaming, or the dude laughing his ass off while his friend screams like a banshee straight out of hell.

You'll Never Be As Hard As Jon Lajoie (NSFW)

Jon Lajoie, mastermind behind Show Me Your Genitals and E=MC Vagina, proves that no one will ever care about less than him. Jon Lajoie literally does not give a f*** in this song, including switching the lyrics in the hook. This is Jon's best work in a while, it's nice to see him back after The League(which I fully enjoy). Obviously this video is a bit NSFW, so either put some headphones on or wait til you're somewhere safe.

Simon Bent's Science Vs Delirium

Australian based artist, Simon Bent, created this awesome set of psychedelic facial hair. Each piece celebrates histories greatest minds by showcasing their fantastic beards and mustaches. Check out Bent's website over here.

Transient Man: A Kickstarter Worth Checking Out

Art by Bruno 'Nox' Gore
Knowing the guys behind this project, we'd love to give a shout out to the Kickstarter for Transient man, an awesome comic book looking for funding to get a full scale graphic novel release. Transient revolves around a homeless guy in San Francisco who finds himself believing that he might be the only man capable of saving the earth, universe and beyond after having a little too much cough syrup and other fun substances. He embarks on a fantastic journey across time and different dimensions, but the question remains...Is it all in his head, or is he truly the 'chosen one?'

The fact that 151 pages out of 212 are available for free on the Transient Man website will definitely prove that this comic is truly something special. The artist behind this comic, Coro Kaufman is one of the main guys behind Massive Black, the concept art studio that we've featured multiple times on this website. I even remember when he critiqued my art a few years back at one of the Massive Black concept art workshops, aside from being an insanely good artist, he's also a super cool guy. If you guys have a few bucks to spare, donate to help this guys project (which has been in the making for a few years) get out there. Donate on the Transient Man Kickstarter page! Check out some of the amazing art and video created for the project after the break.

Hasbro Unleashes Their Battleship Trailer

If there was something really odd I noticed when we decided to take a studio tour at Universal during our trip a few months ago to E3, it had to do with the Hasbro office. I distinctly remember the tour guide stopping at the newly built facility and mentioning, "This office is in charge of film development based off of Hasbro properties." At the time I kind of joked to myself, "Sure would be hilarious if they decided to make board game movies." And lo and behold, a few months later we get the trailer to this insane premise, featuring a Navy fleet stuck a deadly engagement with a bizarre alien fleet, inside a force field. Looking forward to the theatrical debut of Twister and hey, why not Monopoly? I could see Michael Douglas and Shia La Beouf in that. My god, Hollywood...We've officially run out of ideas, haven't we?

The Art Of Adam Capps

Cuddle bears is a real app, by the way...And free too! Check it out if you have an iphone. (Via)
Adam Capps is a North Carolina based artist who really showcases a lot of personality and quirky humor in his work. He's got a broad range of styles and a great eye for color in all his illustrations. Check out three more pieces of his work after the break, and there's a lot more on his website too!

Portugal The Man: Sleep Forever

Sometimes you just don't want to get up, life is perfect asleep. This thirteen minute short film/music video hybrid is not like that; It's chillingly beautiful, and NOT RECCOMENDED FOR THE FAINT OF HEART. Prescribed dosage is full screen and all the way through. You can do it.

Detective Comics #880 Has One Laughable Cover

This cover by Jock is a fitting conclusion to a fantastic and dark saga. If you haven't read Scott Snyder's arc, a lot has happened. The Joker is on the loose in the catacombs beneath Gotham City, more vicious and frightening than ever.

Written by Scott Snyder, and some amazing art by Jock and Francesco Francavilla, make sure you can track down this saga, especially when it hits the graphic novel run. With covers and art like this I'm sure you'll fall in love with and check out American Vampire (also written by Scott Synder); unlike Chris I absolutely love the first run of that series.

Game of Thrones: Character Breakdown

The first season of "Game of Thrones" has been over for several weeks now, and we're already going through withdrawals.  And we won't get more for another year.  Bummer.  If you started the first season a little confused about who is who, then let this awesome alternative opening be your guide.  I mean, I wasn't confused, let's not be silly.  But I, uh.. heard others were.  Enjoy!

Ultimate Spider-Man Is Back!

Never put Spidey in the corner.
Hey. Remember when Ultimate Spider-Man died? Well, he's being replaced. With a kid that wears knee-pads and a home-made looking costume. Ultimate Fallout #4 is the first appearance of the new Spider-Man of Marvel's Ultimate Comics universe.

Ultimate Fallout #4 is written by Brian Michael Bendis, Jonathan Hickman and Nick Spencer with artwork by Sara Pichelli, Salvador Larroca, and Clayton Crain and a cover by Mark Bagley. The book goes on sale next Wednesday in comics stores everywhere

Trash Land By Jose Ferreira

Mesmerized. (Via)
Jose Ferreira managed to capture a post apocalyptic scenario via his lens...People rummaging in garbage, smoke, and incredibly unsanitary conditions for something to eat or recycle for a few cents. These disturbing images capture a real sense of desperation, and create a sense of disbelief in the viewer. Its just hard to believe that this is the reality that the garbage collectors have to deal with on a daily basis, foraging through waste to survive. Its a powerful series of images that shed light on an unseen side of Mozambique. 8 more images after the break.

30 Days Of Adventure Time (More Like 36)

In a strange turn of events, Adventure Time happens to be one of my favorite cartoons ever. WHAT A SURPRISE! If the immense level of sarcasm hasn't turned you away, you're in luck, because artist, Mike Jwitz, has done something amazing.

For 30 days straight, Mike took it upon himself to create a fantastic set of Adventure Time portraits, all with enough quality to hang around your house (you might seem a little weird if you use all of them). Even though it ended up being 36 days(can't complain), this set is amazing.

Hit the jump for the full set! Also, check out Mike's tumblr!

Black Black Hills - The Celebration

This is such an amazing track from the band Black Black Hills, it's got just the right tempp to fit almost anything I might be doing(including my nightly game of League of Legends). It should be no surprise that an awesome song like this is accompanied by such an awesome music video. Although, like director, Blac Ionica says, this video blurs the line between music video and short film.

Inspired by British folklore, this music video truly shines on the creepy side, but never enough to scare you away. It's an amazing piece of cinematography and a great accompanying piece for the Black Black Hills' single, The Celebration.

George Lucas Loses Stormtrooper Replica Props Battle

Robobrain approves, with replica Stormtrooper helmet equipped.
Andrew Ainsworth, the guy who designed the original stormtrooper design for the Star Wars movie recently won an amazing battle against a monster lawsuit by Lucasfilm for selling replicas of his designs. We're talking a five year, complicated legal wrangle in which Andrew sank close to $1.2 million dollars to fight the multi billion dollar entity, mainly funded by sales of his replicas.

The case came down to a technicality, with the British supreme court ruling his works as a prop rather than a work of art (Which Lucasfilm was pushing for)...Which meant that the copyright protection for the design was 15 years instead of 70, meaning that any copyright protection had long since expired. We commend this man for fighting for the right to make money off his own designs, and providing people like us with non awful replica props of iconic designs.

Germany Timelapse

This video was submitted by our forum member known as Asinine, showcasing a relaxing, soft focus timelapse of a groups stay in Germany and Switzerland(The video was uploaded by Jono Seneff on Vimeo). A really chill video, perfect for getting your Thursday off to a great start, and transporting you somewhere different for a few minutes. Awesome.

Red State Trailer Runs Red

Ok, I'm a HUGE Kevin Smith fan. But even I am having trouble believing that he has created this film. This trailer is like nothing Smith has done before; and I mean that in the most sincere, complementary way.

Red State is a movie that has been causing much controversy within the movie & media industry, while causing much talk within the advertising industry. This film has proven a lot with such little budget. It's a beautiful love note to anyone working within a budget and through independent means, which is something all of us here at Awesome Robo can completely understand.  Plus it's a film mocking Westboro Baptist Church. Win Win.

Red State will be released through video on demand on Labour Day (September 5th) and in cinemas through his Smodcast Pictures label across North America on October 19th.

See The Green Lantern Animated Series Footage Now!

In Brightest Day! The Comic-con footage of the Green Lantern show has been officially released and I must say that its really got some charm. I'm quite looking forward to seeing how the entire show is handled, even though I can already tell they had to tame the Red Lanterns for a younger audience.

Also, I personally have grown to love the Bruce Timm inspired animated style, what about you guys?

Foster The People

Awesome concept by Dot & Effects for this music video, featuring the band of this song being captured and abused by a bunch of young punks in a postapocalyptic setting. Absolutely amazing job with the special effects and telling a story here. I wasn't sure about the sound of these guys at first, but it grew on me as the music video went on. The last few minutes of this music video really elevated this to an all new level.

True Superheroes

(Via)
Conventions are stressful times. Especially when you have kids. Or you ARE a kid. I hear this story all the time: Kid loses his dad in the crowd, and freaks out. Heartbreaking. This is where this photo comes in.

It's a convention, people cosplay. He saw the Flash and Wonder Woman and because he was a kid, didn't know the difference between reality and fiction. He went up to the Flash and Wonder Woman to ask for help, because he knew the two from comics. People really are fantastic.

6 Awesome MTV Europe Idents

"Taste"

Unlike the US, most MTV channels around the world are still mainly about the music and not about the awful reality TV shows. But one thing that ties all the MTV's around the world together are the idents...Short, experimental and fun little clips that tell a little story and usually end with an MTV logo. Artists from all around the world work on these quirky, vivid and creative little videos, and we just wanted to share a few of the really cool ones that were created in the last year or so. Check out 5 more of these awesome videos after the break!

Roster For Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Leaks: Who's New?

Snazzy new boxart for a $40 rerelease. Thanks to Neogaf for uncovering the leak.
I'm kind of glad I didn't buy Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, because after the whole Street Fighter 4/Super Street Fighter 4 releases...I kind of had a feeling that they were going to pull off a similar maneuver to maximize profits. Clever girl, Capcom.

During last weekends San Diego Comicon, Capcom revealed four new characters for this upcoming 'Ultimate' rerelease of the fighting game. Among them: Firebrand, Hawkeye, Ghostrider and the absent fan favorite, Strider Hiryu. However, a few savvy members from the gaming forum called Neogaf did a little work and managed to find some files on the Capcom servers that weren't mean to be seen yet. Curious as to who the other eight characters are going to be? Check out the remaining eight after the break!

It Ain't Worth It

These guys have a message, and that message is that S-E-X just plain ain't worth it.  We all knew that it could lead to such things as STD's and disease, but have you ever really thought about all that pain?  And death, don't forget about death.  You know that one guy?  That one guy who had sex?  He died.  I bet you didn't know that, but now you do.  So remember, it just ain't worth it.

Slender Man In Your New Minecraft Update

(Via)
Slender Man. A Meme that still haunts my dreams. It still creeps me the f*** out, and it looks like one of the scariest creations the internet mind ever created is coming to Minecraft.

In a Google+ post, Notch revealed a new mob called Enderman. They're depicted as tall, black creatures with long arms and legs, and seem to be able to hold blocks. It's possible the creatures are also based off the Minecraft meme/myth of Herobrine, the alleged dead brother of Notch who roams player's worlds and creates two block high tunnels and pyramids.

Looks like I have less reason to be playing Minecraft at night. Thanks a lot Notch.

Comic-Con 2011: See Captain America's Avengers Suit

The Cap is getting a mild tech upgrade to his red, white and blues. (Via)
Wondering how Captain America will look during the Avengers? His Avengers suit was revealed during the con, but only just recently have clear, good shots appeared. So if your interested in seeing how much his costume will change (and how much you can b**** about it not being like the comics) after the jump!

Animal Gangs By Alejo Giraldo

The Lower East Side Bandana Foxes (Via)
This was an awesome series to stumble into on the Behance network, featuring Alejo Giraldo's take on animal gang factions. These would make sweet prints, and even sweeter tshirts, so be sure to go onto his network page and appreciate his awesome series. This Barcelona based artist has worked for clients including Nike, Threadless and a bunch of other companies using his signature style. Check out three more awesome animal gangs, including the Downtown Roller Bears after the break. Hell yes.

Piggyson's Steam Minions

'In'tendo Minion (Via)
This series by Joseph Drust combines his love of vinyl customization with steampunk aesthetics. The result is pretty damn awesome. He's got an entire gallery of these evil looking minions, my favorite being the Megaman III 'In'tendo minion of course. Check out 3 more awesome minions after the break!

Making Of Kraft's Vintage Super Marios Bros.

If you grew up in the mid nineties in the US, and were born sometime in the eighties, there's no doubt that you probably saw this commercial at some point if you were watching any kids programming. This recently unearthed short takes a look at the insane amount of work that went into creating this creative thirty second ad by using a shot by shot breakdown. Its a fascinating look at the early days of CG and the widespread use of mixed media in advertising using some truly creative techniques. This is such a blast to the past, in the best was possible. The piece was created by Curious Pictures, a New York based studio that's still around and doing work in just about every visual medium.

Dillon Ross Has Something Special With SpaceBeard

SpaceBeard is a relatively new web comic series by artist, Dillon Ross, that gives strong Sam & Max vibes. Honestly, Sam & Max is everything I could want in a web comic, yet Dillon somehow manages to transcend that vibe and make it his own. Over the past couple months, Dillon has really grown into his style and is putting out some quality(and hilarious) stuff. I'm so damn excited for the next entry. Hit the jump to check out the first few entries and give his tumblr a go.

Mustard Pimp Takes NSFW To An Uncomfortable Level

I can't warn you more than throwing a warning in the title, but this video is EXTREMELY NSFW. I suggest you place yourself in the confines of your home and make sure no one is around, because this might be a bit awkward to walk in on. I might even suggest you lock your doors.  Director Don Redman and electronic duo, Mustard Pimp(one of my favorites, seriously, check them out on their Soundcloud), put together one of the most uncomfortable yet entertaining displays of sex(if that's what you'd like to call it) I have ever seen. I don't want to spoil it, but I can't warn you enough about how weird this might be for you. As for myself, I couldn't stop laughing.

Edit: A friend of mine just walked in on me watching this and immediately left the room. I forced him to watch it shortly after.

Black Dynamite Pilot Is Looking Pretty Damn Awesome

If you guys haven't seen the hilarious throwback cult blackxploitation film that came out a few years ago called Black Dynamite...Seriously, do yourself a favor and pickup the damn movie! Following the cult success of the film, it looks like Adult Swim will be airing an animated adaptation of the severely tongue in cheek movie. The animation is looking pretty damn slick, and they are doing a damn good job at adapting that grind house style. Tune into Adultswim on August 8th to get your Black Dynamite fix you jive ass turkeys.

Cerberus Pup

(Via)

I would sell an arm and a leg to get an adorable Cerberus pup. Three heads means three times more awesome, cuddly goodness. Brb, off to the Hades Humane Society to get myself a few of these.

Comic-Con 11: Captain America Proposes

The Captain finally fights the ultimate enemy, loneliness. At Comic-Con, a Captain America cosplayer proposed to his girlfriend on the Avenger Shield Helicarrier that was set up to hype the film. If you can think of anything more romantic then you aren't at Comic-Con.

Gax Brings Us Beautiful Insanity

French artist, Gax, brings pure insanity to life with each piece, all of which are filled to the brim with some of the most creative and dreamlike creatures I've seen in a while(Lovecraft fans, you're in for some treats). The beautiful scenery in each piece is the icing on the cake. I admire Gax's knack for creature design, it's something I've always envied and Gax seems to perfect his own style with each piece.

Hit the jump for 9 more Gax pieces, and then I highly suggest you give a look at Gax's blog, it has some amazing work that I hope I can one day frame and place on my walls.

The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra Trailer

It shouldn't be a surprise that I love The Last Airbender series. Actually, maybe it should be, I've never mentioned it. Either way, now that the jig is up I'm happy to present you the first trailer for new series The Legend of Korra, which is looking simply beautiful. I can't wait.

Comic-Con 11: Captain America Deleted Scene

This Captain America deleted scene shows the horrible side-effect of the superhero formula. It's only a small effect, really.

Comic-Con 11: Doctor Who Season 6 Part 2 Trailer

Doctor Who Season 6, in my opinion, has been the greatest season since the show was brought back in 2005. And this trailer for the second part of season 6? It seals the deal. If this doesn't excite you? Then you obviously haven't seen the first part of the season. For shame. Your punishment? Go watch this amazing piece of television.

The term teaser gets thrown around a lot, but if this teaser isn't enough a very short trailer for episode 11, The God Complex, was also released during Comic-Con and is available after the jump.

Comic-Con 2011: Meet The Avengers.

Over Comic-Con weekend, Marvel have been releasing promotional art posters of the Avengers. I haven't been posting them for this reason; only just now Marvel has released the final poster, which transforms into a gigantic look into the summer blockbuster.

Personally, I love the Jack Kirby look of the Hulk the most, but the whole thing is so f***ing awesome.  Each individual poster features some amazing art but together? Marvel really can hype a film.

See each individual poster after the jump! Assemble in Avengers!

Frodesign Dark Knight Rises Poster

(Via)
Frodesign does some AMAZING simplistic art. Recently, they've made a few Batman posters I'm sure you guys will love. See the Bane inspired poster above, and the Catwomen poster after the jump. Both will be on sale in limited amount via the official site at an undetermined time. Hope I can afford one when the time comes around.

Siegfried Animated

The animation studio known as Pendragon Imageworks created this gorgeous trailer based off a bande desinee (French graphic novel), known as 'Siegfried' by The French artist Daugard. They absolutely nailed the style for these beautiful comics in this faux trailer. If only this project was reality. It's both inspiring and a bummer at the same time.

Control By Spoek Mathambo

SPOEK MATHAMBO - CONTROL from spoek mathambo on Vimeo.

A seriously cool music video by the South African artist known as Spoek Mathambo. Aside from having an incredibly unique musical style that draws heavily from his roots, the music video shines a light on a rarely seen side of the South African population. Beautiful stuff.

Triple D's

No, I'm not talking about boobs.  And, no, I'm not referring to "Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives" either.  Triple D is the Double Dog Derp.  Here I have found you the epitome of the Triple D.  There's really nothing else to say, but enjoy!

Comic-Con 11: The Lizard Arrested, And Not By Spider-Man.

(Via)
So yesterday the Lizard finally got confirmed as the villain of the blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man during it's Comic-Con panel. And that he is, indeed, is being played by Rhys Ifans. But Rhys was also supposed to be in a weird mood during yesterday's big Spider-man panel in Hall H. It just came out why he was so closed, and the truth is more horrifying than anything that Spider-Man 3 could show.

Comic-Con 11: Lost Lost Footage

Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof turned up at a Friday “Lost” Comic Con panel to demonstrate with a Lost season-one clip that they weren’t just making s*** up as they were going along. The evidence is right here, people.

Comic-Con 11: You'll Love This Green Lantern: The Animated Series Clip

As one of the only sites who liked the Green Lantern film, we here at Awesome Robo have been waiting with great patience for new footage and held our breath that this show would be worth our time. As it terms out? It's looking promising and this clip made me laugh out loud.

The series is being created by Bruce Timm, the mastermind behind the 1990's Batman & Superman animated shows, both amazing & beloved. Whilst not a big fan of CGI animation, this style is growing on me. How about you guys? Let us know in the comments.

Les Gobelins Week 2011: Eleanor

Today marks the final day of Awesome Robo's Les Gobelins Week, which we're ending with a real tearjerker. Eleanor is by far the most beautiful tales out of all of this years projects, I'm trying to keep back tears just thinking about this one. It's adorable and extremely inspiring. We hope all these animations were as incredible for you as they were for us.

Boneface's "Knockout" Collection

UK based artist, Boneface really knows how to draw attention to his pieces. Boneface's unique style and color schemes drew me in instantly, of course I also liked the comic book part as well... I always find super hero art to be the most inspiring when displaying them at their most vulnerable point, it truly humanizes them.

Hit the jump for four more pieces from this awesome set, then check out his website for tons more.

Mario 64 Samples And Mass Amounts of Flow = Wax and EOM

Lately the forum has been getting quite a few awesome submissions, but this piece submitted by GFUNKALLSTAR is by the far the best (and so far the first) hip-hop track we've ever been given. The song which features a few samples from (correct me if I'm wrong) Mario 64, Luigi's Mansion and of course Super Mario World, all sampled by EOM. Wax on the other hand has some of the best flow I've heard in a while, mixing in some awesomely witty versus.

Thanks for the submissions guys, keep them coming over here!

Damnit, Capcom

Is it just me or has Capcom been plenty busy in destroying my love for them? I have no idea what they've been up to as of late, but following Keiji Inafune's departure, their focus appears to be centered around destroying Megaman and enraging their fans. Megaman Legends 3? Canceled. Megaman Universe? Canceled. Megaman In Marvel Vs Capcom 3? Mysteriously missing, and not even announced for their ridiculous cash grubbing 'Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3' rerelease, featuring a BLOODY MEGAMAN LEGENDS STAGE. F*** me, somebody high up at the company is bitter as hell about Inafune leaving. Capcom has made so many blunders as of late, I'd like you to watch this video and think of Capcom as Cutman, screwing up opportunity after opportunity with their Western audiences.

Dog Vs Shark

Okay, I could go into my own little rant about why I don't think allowing your dog into shark infested waters is such a swell idea.  But, hey, it happened, so I'll just leave that be.  Anyways, badass dog goes for a swim, with his/her Australian owner filming.  This dog is the honey badger of the beach, he just doesn't give a s**t.  "F**k you, shark!  This is MY beach."

Scanwiches

Category: Homemade Ingredients: Lox, Lettuce, Tomato, Bacon, Mayo On Wheat

This blog was an absolute treat to find, chronicling people who scan their sandwiches to share with the world. Its a fun, bizarre concept...But looking through all the different sandwiches these guys have scanned is nearly food porn-ish. I guess the blog was created both as a showcase and a way for people to get ideas about recipe combinations. Check their website out here for a ton of different scanwiches, and they even have a book coming soon too! I love sandwiches, and these guys are the internet equivalent of archivists of all the various combinations for future generations. Heck yes.

Season 2 Of The Walking Dead Can Have It's Way With Me

The first season of The Walking Dead may or may not have ended on one of the most god-awful notes a television show could end on, but that isn't going to stop me from checking in for season 2. The above trailer was just revealed at San Diego Comic-Con and it's already showcasing some amazing sh*t-your-pants-with-suspense moments. Anyone who's read the comic book series can tell you that show has already gone off into a completely different direction, whether that's a good thing is yet to be decided. Hopefully the second season will answer this question.

Jabbawockeez - Devastating Stereo

Damn, these guys never cease to amaze me.  From their America's Best Dance Crew days until now, they've shown how far a super-talented, hard-working group of people can go.  Their dance to MJ's "PYT" has always been a big favorite of mine.  I wish I could pull off moves like this.  Now they've got their own videos!

Wolverine Movie Spin-off Sequel Confirmed

At the Comic-Con panel for his upcoming robot boxing movie Real Steel, X-Men star Hugh Jackman revealed that the villain of the next Wolverine movie -- a 2012 film tentatively titled The Wolverine -- will be familiar nemesis Silver Samurai. First appearing in Daredevil #111 (1974), he is a mutant with the ability to generate a tachyon energy field from within his body. He typically focuses this field through his sword, allowing it to cut through almost any substance. Basically the power of being bad-***.

This confirms that the movie is happening & that the story will revolve around Japan, and possibly Logan's time in Japan, long rumoured to be in production. I really hope they don't drop the ball like with X-Men Origins. That piece of s*** really didn't even try to be a good film, and I've never meet anyone who has enjoyed it. At least it couldn't be worse, right?

Les Gobelins Week 2011: Fur

Today, for Les Gobelins Week, I'm featuring possibly my favorite animation of the 2011 group (I still love them all, mind you). Not only is it the most action packed, but it also holds, in my opinion, some of the best use of color within this years animations. Fur is simply beautiful, and holds a simple but powerful message, be yourself. I can't lie though, I especially love when large groups of people turn into giant amorphous blobs, it's just so fun!

Zac Gorman Shows Us That Being A Hero Is Hard

Zac Gorman from Magical Game Time proves that even though Link's day-job may seem fun, it's not as easy as it looks. I definitely know what it's like to be misread when doing something nice, and I'm assuming you do as well(being misread is what I do best!). This quick three page comic (continued after the jumpe) is one of my favorite sets from Zac, which really shows off his unique style. If you enjoy Zac Gorman as much as I do, I HIGHLY suggest you check out his website here. I 100% love his use of animation and still images.

Hit the jump for the final pages!

Deus Ex: Purity

I have a feeling that Deus Ex: Human Revolution might end up having an amazing story, based off all this backstory related content created with really solid live action, no less. This latest video focuses around the work of Purity First, a group that is fighting to uncover the more sinister intentions that corporations monopolizing the human augmentation market might have. There are also undercurrents of a future in which everyone needs to augment their bodies with implants and cyborg parts in order to stay competitive...A forced hybridization driven by the corporations in order to create a reliance on their product.

Its an interesting scenario to ponder...Seeing how some corporations act in this day and age, with their ruthless tactics for maximizing profit, is this that far off from what might happen when cyborg augmentations are possible? And what about the Big Brother tactics, like being able to turn off peoples implants, mind control people, track their movements without their knowledge (Apple comes to mind) and other awful abuses of power. The video is a genuinely unsettling look at what might happen decades from now, if our technology ever gets to that point. I'm really looking forward to giving this cyberpunk adventure a spin. Check out the hacked corporation website mentioned at the end of the video here: Sarifindustries.com.

Planet Of The Apes Party Fun Time

Those damn dirty apes are getting down to Benny Benassi! This is a pretty hilarious remix featuring re-edited footage of the original Planet Of The Apes, with lots of apes and humans getting down. The disco bling underwear scene damn near killed me. I hope they play this before the upcoming Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes flick. Evolution becomes musical revolution!

Who Is Armadyne?

Armadyne Corp, the viral website for Elysium. (Via)
Looks like we have a new viral for Neil Blomkamp's new project, after District 9. This website was posted by some WETA people I know over Facebook. This viral website just popped up recently, showcasing a non embeddable video calling for people like 'Zero G Welders,' 'Multigeneration planners,' and Quantum networkers...Giving us the clue that this movie has to do with giant spaceships in the future...After some digging around we got a few more details revolving around this project:

-The cast includes Matt Damon, Jodie Foster Alice Braga, Wagner Moura and Sharlto Copley.
-The plot might revolve around humans vs aliens, and Jodie Foster might be the ruler of said aliens.
-The movie hasn't started shooting yet, but has a tentative Spring 2013 release date. The website revealed that its a Sony Pictures project.

Thats about all we know, but we're excited about this first step in their Viral...And the idea that Neil will be taking the reigns of another original IP is pretty exciting stuff, honestly. We look forward to learning more, and we'll definitely be following the viral as it unfolds!

Harry Potter Meets Kevin McCallister

Take the visuals of one excellent, quintessential holiday movie (as a person who grew up in the 90's, THAT IS MY OPINION) and the audio of the final Harry Potter movie, and you get a sweet baby of a mash-up.  Kevin was always a little badass, and this just takes it to a whole new level.  Is that a thank you I hear?  No, no..."Keep the change, you filthy animal."

Mortal Kombat Says "F*** Our Lore", Puts Freddy Krueger In The Game

In an unexpected twist, Freddy Krueger is now making his way into Mortal Kombat as a downloadable character. Are you kidding me? That's awesome as hell! I didn't think I'd ever see the day where I get to stab someone in the face with the dream master. Count me in. If you haven't given the Mortal Kombat a shot, I highly recommend it, it's great return to form and it's a relatively solid fighting game. All that's left is for Jason to make an appearance and we'll have the closest thing to a Feddy vs. Jason video game.

Wonder Woman Footage Leaks, Doesn't Impress

So it begins. Footage of the Wonder Woman NBC pilot have started to leak and BOY does it seem lackluster. Not bad by any stretch (We had the Aquaman trailer for that) but it really doesn't impress me at all. Nor anyone else. It's no wonder it didn't get picked up. Check out the footage after the jump.

Courage Sells Comics

I am a HUGE fan of the podcast Tell 'Em Steve Dave!. So when Walt Flanagan wrote lyrics for a song and asked people to record a song, people obliged. I heard a few, and they were really good. Then I heard Courage My Love.

Featured yesterday on Jay and Silent Bob Get Jobs, these guys are between the ages of 15 & 16. With the sound of Paramore, and the talent that I'm insanely jealous of, these guys recorded a song I could just imagine hearing on the radio and being glad that it's there.

So check it out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. These guys rock in a big bad way, and I wouldn't be surprised if they play on the many alternate music channels I listen too.

Comic-Con 2011: The Avengers Will Assemble

(Via)
With the release of Captain America on the horizon, it's inevitable that more Avenger items will be appearing. Today, at Comic-Con, the teaser poster, and the website were officially revealed. This movie promises to be one of the biggest superhero movies, and one of the most ambitious superhero movies ever created. Will it live up to the hype? We'll see next year, but with The Dark Knight Rises being released around the same time, it looks like the internet will be alight with the clicking keys of nerds arguing on which company is better, and who Batman could beat.

It's like being in the 90's again.

Batman Begins, Falls And Rises Again

The wait for the Dark Knight is torture. But this poster? It's beautiful, and fitting that all 3 posters can fit together seamlessly and still be pretty amazing. The evolution of the Dark Knight has been very interesting to follow so far.

This movie couldn't come out fast enough!

Make Music While You Eat, Then End Up Not Eating

What can I say other than "I really f***ing want this"? Nothing, because this is such a damn cool idea. I've always been the one who pretends to know how to play the drums by banging random sh** on the table, but now I can bang my hands(heh...I know) and create pure beauty!

Artist/Carpenter/Genius, Tor Clausen created these interactive sitting and eating stations which can be found and even purchased right here. Interested in how they sound? Hit the jump and find out.

Amazing Spider Man Trailer Drops

The somewhat anticipated trailer for Amazing Spider Man just dropped a few hours ago, giving us a good look at this new reboot featuring Andrew Garfield as Spider Man. It looks good and all, but god does it feel a little too familiar. It just feels like I'm watching an alternate dimension trailer to the Tobey Maguire Spider Man back in 2002...Which begs the question..When is it too soon for a reboot? I really felt like the first Spider Man was pretty damn decent, why the need to remake something that wasn't broken to begin with? I just hope that the director (Marc Webb) does enough differently with Amazing Spider Man to help it stand out from the shadow of its predecessor. Time will tell.

Beastie Boys: Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win

If there's one thing I always loved about the Beastie Boys back in the day, it was their insistence on creating epic music videos, to accompany their tracks. As part of their new album, 'Hot Sauce Committee Part Two,' they are definitely returning to their roots with this amazing music video (Directed by Spike Jonze, of course) that plays like an eleven minute kids toy commercial from the eighties (on steroids, crack, and other unidentifiable substances) to accompany the track...What the hell doesn't happen to the action figure Beastie Boys in this awesome music video? Enjoy all eleven minutes of this uncut epic adventure, and I'm glad as hell to see that the Beastie Boys are back, and still have it...over a decade later.

Les Gobelins Week 2011: Lonely Dogs

For day three of Les Gobelins week, this short called 'Les chiens isoles,' in French centers around two men on an oil platform who appear to be friends. The problem is that news of one of the friends' possibly leaving the oil platform drives the other into state of delusional paranoia, which ultimately destroys everything they had worked toward building. This short is a creepy, well paced foray into the mind of a troubled man and his downward spiral. Lovely style, and fantastic animation as usual.

Team Potter 2

The Heavy seems a little....coweyed. (Via)
Yasmin Liang, an art student from Parsons in NYC, created this sweet mashup between Harry Potter and Team Fortress 2. The Heavy works uncannily well as a Hagrid...I'm not so sure about the creepily giddy looking Harry Potter Medic. I would pay top dollar for items like these to be made for TF2. A healing wand would be pure genius.

Sometimes The Stars, Stars An Adorably Soothing Animation

Australian band, The Audreys and animator, Luke Jurevicius created this amazing short film for the song Sometimes The Stars (which happens to be a great song for a chill type of mood). The animation has a very "Miyazaki"- feel to it, which I can't say bothers me. In fact, I love it for that very reason. If you like the above animation, I suggest you check out Jurevicius website here.

Pup Really Likes That Orange

Growing up I had a few dogs.  I remember trying to give them fruits or veggies, and my offerings were promptly denied.  If it wasn't meat, cheese, or really damn near anything else, it was considered inedible by my canine buddies.  So I find this orange sucking dog especially bizarre, and yet pretty damn cute.  Add some vodka, and he's got my go-to drink!

Batman: Arkham City Collectors Edition

EVERYONE is excited for The Dark Knight Rises. But what about the other piece of Batman media people are excited for? Batman: Arkham City is a sequel, but the sequel that EVERYONE wants to play, and everyone here at Awesome Robo is excited for it.

I picked up the collector's edition for Arkham Asylum, and it looks like this game will be joining my special edition collection. I should stop buying those. But what's inside?

Collector's Edition includes a premium statue, an art book, Gotham Knight animated content, early access to digital add-on content and more!:
-Premium statue is produced by Kotobukiya to bring the excitement of the game into the real world
-Flip through the pages of a brilliantly illustrated art book to soak up all the Arkham City content available
-Get a jump on the competition when you receive exclusive access to add-on content before anyone else
-Gotham Knight animated content brings the story to life

I already have Gotham Knight on bluray but otherwise? The statue looks mindblowing, and the other pieces just seal the deal!

Warner Bros are telling us that the Batman: Arkham City Collector’s Edition will be retailing for $149.95. That seems like a lot, but Kotobukiya produce high-quality statues. I'm placing my pre-order. And after I'll run into the city and the darkness of the night.

Batman: Arkham City is scheduled to be released worldwide the week of October 18, 2011.

Les Gobelins Week 2011: Vésuves

Yesterday we posted the Les Gobelins short, Who's Afraid Of Mr. Greedy. The amazingly stylized animation above is the second entry for our week of Les Gobelins animation, which once again doesn't disappoint. Unlike the first animation, Vésuves takes a more stylistic and abstract approach, with a social commentary on the way in which some men interact with women(or at least that's the vibe I'm getting). While some have the courage to approach the one we fancy, many of us remain helplessly distant, unable to approach without some sort of hardship.

I still can't believe how smooth and amazing these animations look, it's no wonder why Les Gobelins is held with such high prestige.

Rafael Albuquerque Is The Only Reason I Still Read 'American Vampire'

The upcoming American Vampire #17

With San Diego Comic-Con this week, I feel it's an appropriate time to go full out with comic book coverage. American Vampire started out sounding really interesting, a story of America's history filled to the brim with a secret society of vampires(who may or may not be impacting our everyday lives), co-written by Stephen King(at least the early issues) and lead by one of my personal favorite writers, Scott Snyder(seriously, read the most recent run of Detective Comics and try not to love the guy's style).

While the premise sounded fantastic and the team onboard sounded stellar, the series premiered with an extremely rocky start; it was all over the place. Most of the time it was difficult to understand what was going on without going back-and-forth between issues, and other than Skinner Sweet, the characters didn't quite stick with me. Yet I kept reading. Why? If the above cover-art doesn't answer that question, I'm not really sure what else to say.

Rafael Albuquerque has quickly become one of my favorite comic book artists and consistently puts out work that blows me away. I'd actually like to thank Albuquerque, because without him I wouldn't have stuck around with a series that has recently become one of my favorite. Despite it's rocky start, Scott Snyder has finally found solid footing which doesn't look to be losing traction anytime soon. Hit the jump to see a complete collection of Rafael Albuquerue's American Vampire work.

The Surreal Art Of Sachin Teng

Sheep In Wolf's Clothing (Via)
Sachin Teng is a New York City based artist who creates wondeful, stylized and striking illustrations that really leave an impression. He's had plenty of accolades over the last few years for his amazing pieces, garnering top honors in various illustration competitions to being featured in magazines like Hi Fructose, Carne and various other modern art publications.

I really liked reading about his outlook on art. Saching Teng believes in focusing on the aspect of art as a vehicle for delivering messages that matter. Images have the power to move, to convince you to buy a product, to love, hate and even destroy. In his own words: "Art is a vehicle for messages and ideas. It matter which ones get out there." His images are open to your interpretation..I gleaned all kinds of messages in his works, including the polarization of a generation, his commentary on social media and various other issues. Check out more of his beautiful images after the break, and you can find a ton more on his website!

Attraction By Studio 4C

I've never really been into PSA's, but this just takes the f***king cake! Koji Morimoto's studio (4C) was contacted in order to make an anti smoking promo for a French ad agency (DDB Paris) as a case study for ads that would be more effective with teens. Now, we're not going to express any stance here..People are free to do as they please, but the execution of this little PSA is absolutely, jaw droppingly good. Seeing that Parisian teens absolutely love Japanese anime and  bande desinee (French comics), I think this ad might really work on some people.

The PSA works like an interactive game using your webcam during limited intervals to interact with various characters, mainly via head tracking. The animation is absolutely gorgeous, and so is the music..Composed by the French electro artist known as DANGER exclusively for this interactive short. The catchy track in the trailer and game itself are as of yet unreleased, but its been rumored that the track will be released under the name of 'The Grand Piero.' If you've got a few minutes to try this interactive experience, go check it out on the official Attraction website, you won't regret it!

4 Vintage Cigarette Ads

(Via)
Cigarette ads are damn near extinct nowadays.  Though I can remember the days of Joe Camel and the like, it's a little crazy to see these vintage ads.  Lines like "More doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarette" can only elicit one thing from me: Lolwut? The irony is very strong in these.

Three more ads after the break!

Wingsuit Proximity Flying

Ever wonder what it might be like to fly?  This guy here gives us a birds-eye view of some really awesome scenery while partaking in some badass wingsuit proximity flying.  He wears a suit reminiscient of a flying squirrel, and deploys a parachute at just the right altitude.  A borderline insane, dangerous as all hell activity, but oh-so tempting...

All 52 DC #1 Reboots In One Graphic Novel Collection

Justice League: Beating Harry Potter one record at a time.
Wow...A book that consists of 1,216-pages. In a world breaking record, DC will be releasing a collection, collecting each of the 52 #1 issues that constitute the publisher's superhero relaunch within a $150 volume.

DC Comics: The New 52 Hardcover will be available for $150.00 (US), and will be on sale from December 7th of this year.

Think about it this way. 1,216 pages within a hard-back cover? It could kill a man. I hear it's the new weapon of choice of Batman. This will probably make for a killer Christmas gift at the end of the year.

Followup: Madeon Visualized

Remember that video we posted about the 17 year old French electro mashup prodigy doing a set featuring bits and pieces from 39 separate songs about a week ago? Well, Reddit user Lev Myshkin decided to visualize the mashup using clips from the sampled tracks' music videos timed perfectly to Madeon's samples..The result is a completely new experience. Props to Lev for taking on such a mammoth task and creating this! Check out his Youtube channel here!

10 Mini Wonders From Christopher Boffoli

Just another day on the giant tomato farm. (Via)
Christopher Boffoli's Disparity series takes the art of Macrophotography (Close up photography of very small subjects) and spices up his subjects by adding in tiny miniature people doing various activities, adding a wonderfully surreal, fun feel to all his pieces. Whether it be a lone janitor cleaning mustard off a hotdog to a crew repairing potholes in Reese's peanut butter cups, his images are colorful, playful and whimsical. Its really awesome that it looks like he's having fun telling a story with every image.

Check out 9 of his other mad genius macro creations after the break!

Les Gobelins Week 2011: Who's Afraid Of Mr. Greedy

I've been a huge fan of the Les Gobelins school in France, which I regard to be one of the finest animation schools in the world...A true Shangri-la for anyone hoping to get an education in animation from the very best Europe has to offer.  And rightfully so, because whenever they showcase what the students have been working on, its easy to mistake their projects for work done by industry professionals.

Les Gobelins just released this years batch of shorts from third year students, and I have to say this year's offerings are among some of the best the school has ever produced. In honor of all the hard work these students put into creating these amazing projects, we'll be featuring one every day for the rest of the week. To kick things off, today's short focuses on one man's quest to regain his identity from an ogre who stole it years ago. Enjoy!
