Black Dynamite's Musical Season Finale is 'The Wiz' meets 'The Wire'
Tonight, Adult Swim is airing the one-hour Black Dynamite season finale "The Wizard of Watts". The Black Dynamite series, created in 2009 by Michael Jae White and directed by LeSean Thomas and Carl Jones of Boondocks fame, has never been a stranger to bizarre humor and brazen social commentary driven from off the beaten path. But this episode is something else entirely.
Feeling in need of some well-deserved off time after a long stretch of solving cases and beating up drug dealers, Black Dynamite decides to take a holiday only to be serendipitously hit in the head by a brick. Dynamite's catatonic dreams transport him to the magical world of "Oz-Watts", a fantastical wonderland of foul-mouthed poodles (Tyler, the Creator), flying junkies, harpy hookers (Erykah Badu), a wizard Magic Johnson, and a benevolent fairy James Brown welcoming him to "the black version of the Wiz". Oh, and an army of pig enforcers hell-bent on beating the s#*@& out of him. What could go wrong?
It seems like New York production house Ars Nova is going all-out for this season's finale. Though I must admit I haven't watched much of the show save a few episodes of the first run, I'm genuinely looking forward to seeing this episode. Michael Jai White, Carl Jones, Kym Whitley, and Scott Sander of the Black Dynamite crew are also hosting a Google Hangout session before, during and after the episode's premiere. Check out the episode tonight and let us know what you think!

Flying Lotus - Ready Err Not
The latest music video from Flying Lotus' You're Dead! is here just in the time for Halloween. Directed and animated courtesy of David Firth, the ingeniously demented mind behind the mental scar-inducing Salad Fingers series, Ready Err Not takes us into the decapitated mind of Flylo himself; complete with writhing hellspawn, quasimodo axe-men, eye spiders, and mischievous elf children straddling the line of androgyny. Imagine 'Waking Life' as more of a waking nightmare.

"Socialist Circle" - An Abstract Wonderland
Socialist Circle was best described by the user that sent it in as a 'retinal romp,' and I couldn't agree more as I couldn't make much sense of what was going on throughout it. There's a lot of visual metaphors to pick through here, and it's all left quite open to interpretation. Animator Pansak Bas's other work is similarly abstract, specializing in quirky animated loops and cycles with loose social commentary throughout. Best approach: Turn off your brain and let all the visuals sink in.

"In Lust III" - Get Hot And Bothered
We received an email with a link to a video and a small blurb: In Lust is available for rentals. And what we got is this rather amazing pseudo-music video starring the music of Health (Goth Star specifically). Featuring Eric Wareheim of Tim and Eric fame and Yasmine Kittles, Lust III is a hot and heavy face off starring the two doing their best to express their lust for each other.

Kool AD - "Word" (NSFW)
Former Das Racist rapper Kool A.D. has been at it with music video releases from his 'Word O.K.' mistape, but out of all three of them - Open Letter, Tight and I'm On A Plane, I believe that his newest Word music video takes the cake out the bunch.
Imagining himself as a stoner cartoon dog in a bizarre flat dimension, Kool hallucinates, gets dirty with a whole slew of weird groupies, engages in a shootout with a skeleton policeman and trips his way to hell and back in this absolutely unhinged animated music video directed by Kool and Teddy Vasquez. If you've ever enjoyed shows like Adult Swim's wild SuperJail, this'll be right up your alley.

The Cinematic Table Flip Collection (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
Vimeo user Roman Holiday created this megamix of the absolutely cathartic exercise of table flipping in movies, also known as the ultimate release mechanism. Featuring a total of 34 movie table flips set to George Bizet's Carmen Overture, this is a guaranteed stress reliever for anyone needing it. Someone should set up a recreational stress relief business featuring table flipping, although Japan has already incorporated it into a pretty entertaining arcade experience.

Don't Feed The Penguin
Don't Feed The Penguin is all about an employee at a food court slowly losing his mind during a long graveyard shift at a 24 hour food court. In order to entertain himself, Jo resorts to killing time by eating. At some point during this sleepless night, we witness his sanity begin to slip and some truly bizarre things start to happen in this strange establishment. Loved the art style, which kind of had a sketchy, warped quality resembling the likes of Tekkon Kinkreet.
Animated by Alenka Krizenecky, Don't Feed The Penguin started off as a project at EMCA in France before being finished independently post graduation. For a one person project, this turned out absolutely amazing. Just remember what that screaming maki roll said though, don't feed that damn penguin.

Die Antwoord - "Pitbull Terrier"
Pitbull Terrier has all the stylings of a bizarre underground B-movie flick, but we've come to expect nothing less from the South African zef duo. Their latest music video drop features frontman Ninja donning a rather grotesque pitbull mask and chasing down a series of cat girls until getting confronted by an ethereal looking Yolandi Visser, who puts him in his place before resurrecting him with her own very unique form of medicine.
With copious amounts of blood, saliva and that always unfamiliar South African backdrop, Die Antwoord delivers yet another copiously bizarre visual accompaniment to their already insane library. The track is taken from their 'Donker Mag' album, which will be dropping on June 3rd.

"Butts" - Aka Animated Short Of The Century
Having a bad week? Let Butts take any notion of negativity or bad vibes in your head and chuck them into a blast furnace. Despite it's not so serious name, this animated short by Tyler Hurd delves into some very profound issues about making a difference, however you can. The animation style employed might be worth an in depth analysis in itself, but I'll leave it up to you guys to judge it for yourself. Words fail me.
'BUTTS' is a 3D animated cartoon about anxiety, depression, and lending a hand to those in need. Perhaps the most important film of the decade, 'BUTTS' is a reminder that no matter how strange something may seem, people can still make a difference in their own unique and beautiful way.

Bord De Mer - Some Boys Just Like To See The World On Fire
Bord De Mer ('Seaside' in French) is the animated representation of the stuff my nightmares are made out of. Created by Lucas Navarro as his third year project at Supinfocom, we get to witness a young sociopath in the making after his deliberate actions cause an animatronic display of a beach to go haywire, self destructing in a spectacular fashion.
Faces melt, circuits catch on fire and we get to watch a young lad smile very creepily at a world set on fire by his own hand. Really have to say awesome job to him for coming up with such an out of the box way of cluing in the audience as to the truly f***ed up nature of this kid. That final shot did the trick.

Denmark Gets All Grindhouse For It's Elections With "Voteman" (NSFW)
The folks at Akee just unveiled their latest promotional campaign for encouraging young people to vote in Denmark with Voteman, and it's nothing short of mind blowing. Featuring a rather intense Danish badass as the spokesperson, this little animated advert warns against the dangers of not voting and having an impact on various important issues. Problem is, the cartoon is already banned in it's native country despite having been thought up by Denmark's own Folketinget (Parliament) with a purported budget of $30,000. Following it's release last week the short was removed a day after it's release following the massive backlash that ensued.
Go figure, but I appreciate that parliament's sense of humor. Bans aside the end result is an animated short that feels like a fine blend of part Robert Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Machete) and part Adult Swim. So to our friends in Denmark, please vote on the 25th or else you might end up getting headbutted by a bondage gear wearing dolphin. We wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Birder Dash
Max Litvinov's first animated short is well...A really, really bad trip. Starring a hunter running through a forest in his attempt to capture a verity of birds in a jungle, Birder Dash is one hell of an unsettling short thanks to it's absolutely bizarre animation style and the madness inducing, warped score.
During this short you'll probably witness one of the strangest run cycles ever created, some of the strangest floar and fauna ever designed, and probably the only instance of a bird Voltron ever being assembled to take down a rather uncrupulous hunter. I'd highly recommend checking out Max's Tumblr for some truly amazing, bizarre art executed in the same warped style.

Call Of Duty - Advanced House Of Cards Reveal
The fine folks at Sledgehammer/Activision 'leaked' (It's a game industry cliche at this point) a look at their upcoming next gen Call Of Duty - Advanced Warfare installment, and it's looking pretty damn neat. Aside from the fact that we're finally past the very played out modern warfare theme, the game actually looks next gen unlike the so-so Ghosts, which received lukewarm reception.

Now if you've watched that series, the problem here is that Spacey is literally the same character from House Of Cards, straight down to the familiar traces of a southern twang in Call Of Duty. A little differentiation of character would have been quite welcome, as my brain experienced significant confusion seeing my favorite conniving senator in the last game I'd ever expect. Spacey's a terrific actor nonetheless, so I'm hoping they can deliver a storyline that won't follow the historical trend of being convoluted and nonsensical. Yet another calculated step into 'movideogame' territory and astronomical budget territory.

The Dark Side of Disney - The Anarchists Cookbook Of Disney Trips
Well this is something I can get behind. Being a bit of a Disney themepark aficionado, I've come to appreciate all the strange quirks about the Disneyland/world illusion. Following having gone to the parks a few dozen times, you really start to appreciate the most minute details and crave a peek at the inner workings of the park.
Leonard Kinsey's best selling The Dark Side Of Disney delves into even darker details about the park though, offering readers tips on the best places to hook up, the cheapest and unscrupulous ways to get yourself into the park, and what lies underneath the Magic Kingdom. A Kickstarter just popped up hoping to adapt this awesome little book into what I believe will be one hell of an entertaining documentary, offering us a very adult perspective of the park.
The book is divided into four sections:
Chapter 1 is devoted to financing a Walt Disney World vacation on the cheap by any means necessary, be it buying half-used tickets from shady resellers, to renting timeshares for pennies on the dollar from down-and-out owners, to filling up on free toppings at Magic Kingdom’s Counter Service restaurants.
Chapter 2 is all about carnality at Disney, discussing the best places to have sex and/or find people to have sex with, where to score and do drugs on-site, and where to see a kick-ass rock show complete with girls throwing their panties on stage.
Chapter 3 is a hodgepodge of information about the dangerous and disgusting wildlife commonly found on WDW property, morally questionable time saving tips, and assorted scams that are pulled on naïve tourists and on Disney itself.
Chapter 4 burrows below The Magic Kingdom for a tour of the famous Utilidoors, and features interviews with two high-profile Urban Explorers who have gone into off-limits areas of WDW and lived to tell about it.

Mickey Mouse In "Cable Car Chaos"
Mickey and Minnie take a visit to San Francisco's Chinatown via the town's iconic cable cars, only to have all hell break loose after the operator loses control. The action packed premise takes me back to the first modern Mickey Mouse short Croissant De Triomphe, which centered around Mickey trying to quell a critical croissant shortage while zipping through Paris in a Vespa.

Pharrell's "Happy" Without The Happy
Who doesn't love themselves some deconstructed music videos? The folks at House of Halo took it upon themselves to remove all the music from the ultra viral hit video, that featured people from different walks of life getting down to the undeniably catchy track. With a fresh sound treamtent we're instead presented with a group of people awkwardly shuffling around, clapping and a lot of shoe squeaking. The 'no music video music video' is the best thing to come around since the advent of those hilarious shredding videos

Doraemon Meets Akira at the 2020 Neo-Tokyo Olympic Games
Did you know? Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira manga correctly predicted that the Tokyo summer Olympics would occur in the year 2020. Following the successful bid for the summer slot, Tokyo appointed Fujiko F. Fujio's famous Doraemon character to serve as a special ambassador/mascot for the upcoming games.
When animator Alex Pitarch put one and together, he felt an irresistible urge to mash these two revelations into an absolutely awesome mashup, starring Doraemon as Tetsuo in that infamous scene that scarred many minds across the world. Pitarch did an amazing job bringing this very strange animation to life, making it feel like it could have actually been part of the original landmark 1988 anime feature.

Tom & Jerry Remade With CGI Anime Vocaloids
What happens when a Japanese animator with a thing for Tom & Jerry and some freeware MikuMikuDance animation gets some strange notions in his head? You get this rather convincing, and impeccably odd shot by shot remake of 1956's Down Beat Bear, which involved the ever at war cat and mouse dealing with a rather unwelcome visitor, a bear (Recreated using a feisty redhead) with a rythm all his own.
And you know what? It's a pretty damn well done tribute despite the strange vocaloid stand ins (The software was originally created for fans of Hatsune Miku to make their own music videos). The slapstick humor translates strangely well, and it's strangely hypnotizing to watch them side by side. Too strange of an experiment not to share.

Musicless Music Videos
Youtube user Mario Wienerroither has been having quite a bit of fun lately, taking classic music videos and removing any semblance of music from them, replacing them with some expertly done audio foley. The result is surreal, awkward and kind of hilarious to say the least. Perhaps this is the next generation of those shredding videos? Nonetheless bless these people and their free time, this made us laugh pretty hard.
