Mickey Mouse In "Cable Car Chaos"

Mickey and Minnie take a visit to San Francisco's Chinatown via the town's iconic cable cars, only to have all hell break loose after the operator loses control. The action packed premise takes me back to the first modern Mickey Mouse short Croissant De Triomphe, which centered around Mickey trying to quell a critical croissant shortage while zipping through Paris in a Vespa.

Oh god I don't even.
I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely think that Disney should create a toy to commemorate the first appearance of Minnie Hulk™. Kudos to Paul Rudish and his crew for also accurately capturing what it feels like to actually make the mistake of biking around the hillier parts of downtown San Francisco.

Mickey Mouse In "Tapped Out"

Either Goofy is really aloof, or just a massive dick- As evidenced by volunteering his friend to take on a dastardly Peg-leg Pete wrestler. Donald Duck also showcases his OCD regarding people touching his nachos in this action filled episode, and we finally get to see his sailor like temper flare up something fierce.

Check out the other episodes of the Paul Rudish directed Mickey and Co. misadventures in our archives!

Mickey Mouse in "Flipperboobootosis"

The latest Mickey Mouse short directed by Paul Rudish heads into the realm of some rather terrifying home remedies for a bizarre condition called Flipperboobootosis. For the first time ever in a Disney short, I think they ended up heading into the realm of Ren & Stimpy style humor for this one as they deal with Donald's affliction. Not necessarily a bad thing! For the full archive of all the released Mickey Mouse In shorts, I'd recommend hitting up our archive.

Mickey Mouse In "Sleepwalkin"

In this latest Disney animated short, Mickey makes the mistake of overseeing Goofy's issues with sleepwalking in this slapstick-as-usual filled short, the latest in an ongoing series to reboot their short animation department starring the Disney cast.

We've also posted O Sole Minnie after the break, featuring a very Venetian themed romp with Mickey as a gondola oarsman trying to get the attention of an Italian speaking Minnie. That short is more in line with the international theme present in previous shorts like Croissant De Triomphe, Panda Monium and Tokyo Go. Check out all the previous shorts here.

Mickey Mouse In "Dog Show"

Dog Show is probably the most twisted short in the spectrum of these rebooted Mickey Mouse shorts by Paul Rudish, tackling some aspects that I'd always wondered about growing up with Disney cartoons. Namely, is Goofy a dog? Why do Goofy and Pluto exist in the same universe? Following Pluto getting injured due to a screw up by Goofy prior to a dog show, Mickey has to improvise how to still participate. Prepare yourself for seeing these classic characters in ways you never imagined before, including Mickey losing it in a way I haven't seen since Runaway Brain.

Mickey Mouse In "Ghoul Friend"

A simple living/undead misunderstanding leads to quite a mess in the latest installment of the new Mickey Mouse shorts directed by Aaron Springer. While the site of a zombified Goofy was a little of a departure art first (Kind of like the controversial Runaway Brain cartoon), his intentions ultimately turn out to be positive, not that we can tell at first. The typical formula of slapstick that has persisted throughout the series is still here, although Ghoul Fiend contains one of the weirdest run cycles for Mickey I've ever seen.

Mickey Mouse In "Panda-Monium"

Mickey Mouse resumes his international travels following a brief stint of causing much trouble in his more local haunts. Plagued with a bad case of trying to get a perfect shot of a cute panda at a Chinese zoo, Mickey finds himself faced with an entire crew of zoo fauna obsessed with photoboming his shots. One of the coolest art direction aspects in Panda-Monium comes in the form of traditional Chinese guó huà painting style present in the backgrounds, done with a watercolor style on textured paper.

Mickey Mouse In "Gasp!"

The newest episode of Disney's ongoing Mickey Mouse features a rather interesting change in pace, focusing on Mickey's household problems as well as introducing some entirely new characters to the cast. Gasp centers around Mickey trying to help his fish called 'Gubbles' deal with a rather antagonistic cat when it outgrows it's rather measly fish bowl. Pluto is strangely missing, and I think director Paul Rudish's entire joke centers around the somewhat ironic concept of a mouse chasing a cat around an apartment.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Mickey Mouse shorts that we've posted so far as part of Disney's new initative to revitalize and reinvent their classic cartoons here, featuring his wide range of misadventures at home and abroad. Let's hope they bring back Duck Tales too at some point, while they're at it.

Mickey Mouse In "Stayin' Cool"

On a sweltering day of heat, Mickey and friends desperately attempt to figure out how to cool off, much to the dismay of a wealthy mansion owner, butcher, ice cream truck owner and so on. The sixth installment in the series, this particular short appears to break the usual formula, taking place in a non distinct US city unlike it's globetrotting predecessors. Check out the rest of them here, and we apologize to our overseas readers as we are aware that these shorts might be region locked.

Mickey Mouse In "Tokyo Go"

Mickey Mouse's latest stop on his international tour takes place in a bustling, stylized version of Tokyo, where Mickey gets to deal with the madness of being smashed in between navigating a diverse array of commuters on a bullet train. Director and executive producer Paul Rudish (Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack) continues to show an awesome flair for capturing the more slapstick oriented origins of Mickey and his crew with these fun shorts. Can't wait to see where Mickey heads next! The rest of the shorts: New York Weenie, Yodelberg, No Service and Croissant De Triomphe can be found here.

Mickey Mouse In "New York Weenie"

Mickey continues his global tour in this latest series of shorts featuring him getting into all kinds of strange predicaments in places including Paris in Croissant De Triomphe, the Alps in Yodelberg, the San Diego beach in No Service and now New York with New York Weenie, with the next batch of shorts to take place in Tokyo, Venice and Beijing.

This latest short follows a more food oriented theme akin to Croissant De Triomphe, with Mickey chasing an elusive hotdog intended for Minnie around central park and it's neighboring areas. Iconic food, iconic location, and an increasingly frustrated Mickey mixed with some 70's themed watercolor backgrounds pay tribute to an earlier era of Disney animation. Can't wait for the next one.

Mickey Mouse In "Yodelberg"

Following some widespread fan pressure on Disney to release their new Mickey Mouse shorts on Youtube, the company has finally complied, releasing both No Service and the most recent short; Yodelberg to their Disney shorts channel. The short revolves around a precarious avalanche threatening to put an end to Mickey and Minnie's yodeling duet, with plenty of slapstick for those inclined.

Some noteworthy aspects of this short include the fact that the vintage backgrounds are styled after the work of Mary Blair, who's famous for her work on Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan and the It's A Small World ride at Disneyland and Disney World. Also, the Yeti who appears in the short is styled after the Yeti's that appear in the Matterhorn rollercoaster, another nice callback that will definitely please fans of Disney lore.

Goofy Is Kind Of An A**hole In Disney Short "No Service"

In this risqué Disney short, not only do we get Goofy being a complete and total asshole, but we're treated with some nudist shenanigans from the likes of Donald and Mickey Mouse. No Service is the second Disney animation made solely for online purposes and I'm pretty impressed with the overall quality, especially compared to the first.

It's nice to see Disney going back to more of a slapstick direction with their mascots, as it seemed that Donald and Mickey Mouse were quickly losing that shine of what made them special.

"Croissant De Triomphe" - The First Mickey Mouse Cartoon In 20 Years

The last time we saw Disney release a Mickey Mouse cartoon was close to two decades ago with the rather controversial Runaway Brain, which attempted to bring Mickey to a modern generation. It looks like the folks at Disney are hoping to reconnect with their roots with the creation of 19 new shorts that will be released on all Disney platforms.

Bringing together talent like Paul Rudish, Aaron Springer and Clay Morrow and many more directors behind just about every successful modern cartoon series in recent memory (Sponge Bob, My Little Pony, Chowder and many others), it looks like these shorts will be top notch with this strategy. The first short (Art direction by Joseph Holt) is rather unfamiliar in it's humor compared to the classics, but visually appealing. Check out the official Disney press release after the break.

Jordan Lamarre-Wan & The Art Of Epic Mickey

(Via)
I've yet to complete it but Disney’s Epic Mickey (developed by Junction Point Studios), was a fun but flawed game. But what really impressed me (and disappointed me in the final release) was the original art direction that the game undertook. Though the original goal was a steampunk type Disney setting, the final release was uniquely different and although the final game was not as beautiful and dark as this concept art, you can appreciate how brave of a direction it would have been for Disney.

Concept artist and illustrator Jordan Lamarre-Wan, the artist behind this breathtaking work, has recently released some of his art work from the game which is available in the book 'The Art Of Epic Mickey.' You can check out some more amazing art after after the break!

Mickey Mouse Posters Should Be More Accessible

I'm a huge a Disney fan, especially Steam Boat Willy-era Disney, the animation is just so fun and colorful despite only being in black and white. While I can sit here and hope that one day Disney will return to it's roots, deep down I know this will never happen. Thankfully, Disney's understanding of what made them doesn't stop imitations! Artist, Tom Whalen created this fantastic piece that he started selling earlier last week. When I saw this poster, I knew I would be purchasing it.

NOPE.

It's sold out, and will never grace the walls of my house, but that doesn't mean I can't show you how amazing it is. The style holds so much nostalgia that I can't help but get a warm feeling in my tummy each time I look at it. Maybe, just maybe, we can one day see a second run of this.
