'Chappie' looks like a Promising, if Predictable Sci-Fi Action Flick

The second trailer for Neill Blomkamp's Chappie feels like a mild reprise of the first. With the exception of a few snippets of new footage, the trailer sticks to the story of a self-aware peacekeeping android with a heart of gold pitted against a harsh human opposition born out of fear of the unknown.

The on-screen entrance of sci-fi dame Signourey Weaver is predictably exciting yes, though it is disappointing to see the previously advertised comedy angle takes a backseat to trie-and-tired smash-cut explosions in the film's marketing. Hopefully, this decision is just a crowd pleasing bait-and-switch and Chappie will have a couple more surprises up its sleeve besides looking like a cross between Robocop and E.T.

Die Antwoord - "Pitbull Terrier"

Pitbull Terrier has all the stylings of a bizarre underground B-movie flick, but we've come to expect nothing less from the South African zef duo. Their latest music video drop features frontman Ninja donning a rather grotesque pitbull mask and chasing down a series of cat girls until getting confronted by an ethereal looking Yolandi Visser, who puts him in his place before resurrecting him with her own very unique form of medicine.

With copious amounts of blood, saliva and that always unfamiliar South African backdrop, Die Antwoord delivers yet another copiously bizarre visual accompaniment to their already insane library. The track is taken from their 'Donker Mag' album, which will be dropping on June 3rd.

Die Antwoord - "Cookie Thumper" (NSFW)

The South African rap-rave group continues their descent into madness with their latest narrative, starring vocalist Yolandi Visser as an orphan approaching her crush, a recently freed 'Ugly Americans' (A real gang in S. Africa) gangster called Anies and inviting him back to her orphanage. What ensues is a surprise ending bound to draw some interesting reactions from fans of Die Antwoord and critics alike.

The track features the typical groups signature take on the South African Zef counterculture, which embraces trash fashion, and the entire culture of glorifying living above your means to look like you're better off than you actually are. You're poor, but you rock that faux glam aesthetic however you can. The term has it's equivalent elsewhere- See also Bogans in Australia, Chavs in the UK, Hipsters in the US, an so forth. The track is from their upcoming 'Donker Mag' album, which is set to release in February 2014.

Die Antwoord - The Making of Fatty Boom Boom (NSFW)

Die Antwoord quickly became one of my favorite rap groups to come out in a while, while their lyrics and visuals may be a bit ridiculous for some, their beats are always a treat on the ears. Recently the group released a music video for the single Fatty Boom Boom, proving that the group still hasn't lost that obscure touch they've continuously proven to master. The group is back, but this time with a making of, filled to the brim with self-aware ridiculousness that a lot of fans seem to be missing. Die Antwoord - Fatty Boom Boom (NSFW)

Die Antwoord are officially the masters of 'WTF' musical videos, although at this point it shouldn't really come as a surprise. Fatty Boom Boom comes off the the groups Ten$Ion album from earlier this year, but this music video really couldn't have come at a better time. There's something about Die Antwoord that's infinitely catchy, even if the lyrics come off as a bit ridiculous (and often times nonsensical, I might have to make this a Zef-filled winter.
