It's Happening: Starr Mazer Launches Kickstarter Campaign!

Last April, I did a write-up for Jérémie Périn's epic concept-game trailer Starr Mazer before shouting from the rooftops into the vacuum of space hoping against hope that this ludicrously entertaining mash-up of bullet-hell Shoot 'em up and pulp sci-fi point-and-click mechanics manifested into something actually playable.

Well, it looks like the long arch of the universe is smiling in my favor because Imagos Softworks has finally launched a kickstarter campaign to bring this modern-day opus of retro gaming to fruition.

I think my spaceship knows which way to go...
The team includes Périn who's back on-board doing concept-art; The pledge page promises an original chip-tunes soundtrack courtesy of the talented Alex Mauer (Serious Sam: Random Encounter), Manami Matsumae (Mega Man), The Protomen, and Virt (Shovel Knight), a colorful host of characters, and a multi-choice branching storyline that results in interesting subsequent play-throughs.

I really don't know if it gets much cooler than this. It's like if Space Ace, Commander Shepherd, Space Dandy, and Guybrush Threepwood got mashed all up into one guy who was then thrown into a black hole and then spat out into a Gradius Level. Go back this asap!

North Korea's Kim Jong Un Stars In "Glorious Leader!" Indie Game

Supreme ultra combo god leader Kim Jong Un will be starring in his own videogame soon, courtesy of the folks at Moneyhorse, an indie outfit seeking to capitalize on the quirky infamy of North Korea's eccentric ruler. Taking a page from the likes of Contra and Metal Slug, Glorious Leader will feature a total of seven levels chock full of the portly leader unleashing divine justice on foot and on flaming unicorn. With cameos including Dennis Rodman as Un's sidekick, this title will allow you to live out the great leader's fantasy of annihilating the capitalist western menace.

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea commands you to know that the capitalistic pigs at Moneyhorse LLC, are developing Glorious Leader! , an epic tale about the triumph of Kim Jong Un over the entire American army. Battle through 7 unique levels as you defeat waves of imperialists, combat over-the-top bosses, and ride unicorns!

Glorious Leader! is coming soon to PC and something called a mobile device. Finally, you will know why North Korea truly is the best Korea.

SUPERHOT Launches Kickstarter, The Internet Rejoices

SUPERHOT is a frantic, ingenious first-person shooter where time moves only when you move, turning every mute-toned level into a deadly maze of criss-crossing bullet trails and patience.
The game's prototype was released last year to critical acclaim and became one of the fastest titles to be approved through Steam's Greenlight publishing system. Now the team behind the original is back, with a brand new Kickstarter page and tons of kick-ass new footage.

While so many other shooters rely on flashy non-interactive cinematics to make players feel like a bad-ass through association, SUPERHOT delivers on that euphoria by never taking you out of the action; combining the frenetic chaos of a firefight with the methodical cunning of a puzzle game. I know I've got this one backed!

Prepare To Die In "Super Time Force" - Launching Very Soon

The fine folks at Capybara games have finally unveiled the release date for their unique side scrolling shoot 'em up/puzzler hybrid Super Time Force, along with a fresh new gameplay trailer. While it resembles a Contra-esque shooter on first glance, the title actually incorporates a unique rewinding feature that allows you to build up an army of former 'ghost' comrades to tackle the challenging levels. The expectation is that you're going to have to die, a lot in order to build up a firesquad capable of tackling the bullet hell that will be unleashed on you.

The title will be arriving May 14th for Xbox consoles, but I'm really hoping the title will eventually make it over to Steam and other consoles shortly after the exclusivity period wears out. Zackasaurus is my favorite character out of the bunch.
