Meder Taab's 'Legend Of Korra' Art Is Drop-Dead Gorgeous

The Legend of Korra is hands-down one of the most thoroughly satisfying animes I've watched in recent memory. Korra, much like its predecessor Avatar: The Last Airbender, is one of those few miraculous animated shows manages to deftly tackle emotionally difficult and complex ideas in a way that feels both nuanced and easily-accessible.

Institutionalized prejudice? Egalitarian fascism? Depression and the struggle to define a self-identity? If Korra was only meant to be a cartoon show, its creators sure haven't been acting like it. That's why fan-art for the series, like Meder Taab's amazing countdown posters for the final season, get me so excited. Pieces like these make me appreciate Legend of Korra so much more, not just for what it is for but also for what it's capable of being.

A fun-loving, sci-fi fantasy martial arts romp with endearing characters, brilliantly choreographed fight scenes, thought-provoking villains, and revelatory meditations on life, identity, and self-acceptance if you'd only look beneath the surface. I'll be sad to see it end.

Breaking Bad Junior

'It's Breaking Bad...With Kids.' Those are the words of director Patrick Willems, who was inspired by the idea of a young middle schooler who proposed the idea of a pint sized portrayal of the now infamous Walter White/Heisenberg as an ailing diabetic with a talent for making..Blue gum. This recap of 5 seasons offers mini-sized recreations of the most memorable moments the show has had to offer, so beware of potential spoilers if you haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

Axe Cop Windercon Trailer

In case you forgot, the fantastic webcomic, Axe Cop, is coming to television and it's looking pretty damn great. In the same vein as the comic, the series will be penned by five-year-old Malachai Nicolle and will continue to make close to no sense. Fantastic!

I'm really digging Fox's initiative to bring internet artists to the forefront and ADHD is definitely looking might awesome. Here's hoping this animation block doesn't fall victim like a long list of other Fox television series.

Reminder: Community Is Back

Unlike the godawful Big Bang Theory (don't even try to argue that the show is good), Community is one of the few major network televised shows that portrays nerd humor right. Filled to the brim with some of the best pop-culture references I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying, Community has become a rare gem that refuses to release a bad episode.

While the show was originally meant to be aired in October, NBC delayed the show without a new release date (Something to do with the notoriously difficult Chevy Chase, possibly?). Luckily, the series has avoided an infinite limbo and is finally seeing a release this Thursday. If you still haven't given the show a chance, now is the time to make things right and jump on board.

The Batman Chronicles - Web Series

Why hasn't a live action Batman series been produced? The formula is easy and I'm sure the show could clean up. We've had a series based on Superman and now Green Arrow, and with the advent of a major DC movie reboot it would make perfect sense if they intended to create an "Avengers" type universe, like Marvel & Disney have produced. Until the day we get that show, however, we can rely on fans to bring us some amazing videos for no other reason than to show their love for a franchise.

The Batman Chronicles is a fan-made (non-profit) web series chronicling the adventures of a young Bruce Wayne, exploring his struggle to clean up the streets of Gotham City. Produced by Director Joe Petruccio, a graduate of The School of Visual Arts (BFA Film &Video) and professional editor in the television industry, the show stars Anthony Misiano, an actor and revered Joker costumer who has been featured in a large number of famous outlets over the years. The trailer looks awesome and whilst we have a long wait before we get any official Batman on our screens, this series could fill that dark gap that only the Caped Crusader can fill. We will be keeping a close eye on this show, though if you want to contribute you can go over to their indiegogo page to donate.

This Animated 'Dexter' Intro Needs A Televised Appearance

Dexter Season 6 kicks off on October 2nd, so to celebrate this upcoming date animator, Ty Mattson created this amazing animated opening sequence. While it steers away from the creepy vibes the original sequence has (honestly one of my favorite television intros to date) it does go off in an almost equally enjoyable direction. Why don't you judge for yourself?

Season 2 Of The Walking Dead Can Have It's Way With Me

The first season of The Walking Dead may or may not have ended on one of the most god-awful notes a television show could end on, but that isn't going to stop me from checking in for season 2. The above trailer was just revealed at San Diego Comic-Con and it's already showcasing some amazing sh*t-your-pants-with-suspense moments. Anyone who's read the comic book series can tell you that show has already gone off into a completely different direction, whether that's a good thing is yet to be decided. Hopefully the second season will answer this question.

Wilfred The Dog

For someone who doesn't have cable, I love television more than I should. When I first saw the trailer for FX's series Wilfred (originally aired in Australia), I was ecstatic for such an original looking comedy to make it's way onto American cable television. With Elijah Wood holding the lead role, I expected greatness, because let's face it, a story about a suicidal neighbor befriending a man in a dog suit is a beautiful thing.

Now, with the first episode already aired (I never caught the original Australian airing), it's safe to say that this show is goddamn amazing. If you haven't seen Wilfred, I suggest you get on the boat, because it's simply fantastic. It has a relatively dark overtone with all the dick, fart and drug jokes that one could want from an FX show. Check out the trailer after the break!

A Brief History of Title Design

If you're like me, the opening titles of a film or television show can be just as memorable and exciting as any set piece or exchange of dialog in the feature. A great opening title can be an extension of the narrative, a thesis for the style or theme in the upcoming events, or it can set the pace and mood for what's to follow. 

Ian Albinson put together this compilation for 2011's SXSW festival, which offers a very brief chronology of significant movie and television opening title sequences. I suggest watching the video before going through the cheat sheet (in the video description) that lists all of the movies featured. See how many you recognize and can name; some of the later ones aren't immediately obvious.

Awesome Robot Covering Kapow! Comic-Con!

That's right! It's just been confirmed that I will be covering Kapow! Comic-Con, the convention Mark Millar is launching, which is supposedly London’s answer to San Diego Comic-Con. The con will also play host to the first ever Stan Lee Awards. The event will also contain the premiere screening of Millar’s directorial debut, Miracle Park. Guests include John Romita Jr., Andy Diggle, Jock, Steve Dillon, Duncan Fegredo, David Hine, Simon Furman, John McCrea and Kieron Gillen, Frank Quitely, Lenil Francis Yu, Dave Gibbons, and of course Mark Millar. Star Trek Vs Doctor Who

Every single Doctor Who Fan Fiction summed up in one Image

My mind is blown as I look at this AMAZING picture of two franchises combining. I grew up watching both Doctor Who and Star Trek, and this piece is something that should be turned into a comic: I would much rather check that out then Zombies meet Transformers who meet Star Trek, G.I.Joe and Ghostbusters (Infestation, in case you hadn't heard of that particular mess comic crossover) and I know you are working on it IDW!
