Starbomb's BEST Zelda Rap EVER!!

The musical supergroup Starbomb, composed of Ninja Sex Party's Leigh Daniel Avidan and Brian Wecht along Arin Hanson (best known as Egoraptor) is back with another music video, and it's by far my favorite of those released thus far. Surprisingly it's not just because it's a Zelda-themed song (although that might contribute a tiny bit to my love for it).

One of my favorite parts of the Starbomb project is the group's dedication to bring in lesser known animators to get a chance in the spotlight. For It's Dangerous To Go Alone, animator Joel C's animation and stylistic choices are top notch and add to the overall ridiculousness of the track. The more ridiculous the song gets the better the animation seems to get and Joel C's style really adds to a song about an old man's "sword".

Wind Waker meets Dark Souls in Cornerstone

I'd like to set the foundation of this post with this, why the f*ck isn't this funded yet? Take one part Windwaker, another part Dark Souls and mix them together and you'll get something along the lines of Cornerstone: The Song of Tyrim (like I said, why isn't this funded?). The game may be very early in development (pre-alpha mind you), but the overall concept has more than perked my interest.

With an open and explorable world on the scale of Windwaker, mixing in the combat of Dark Souls is truly the icing on the cake. There have been very few games that have captured my attention like the Windwaker, and the thought of another studio tackling that level of exploration is all I need set sail on this Kickstarter ship.

If you're like me, you probably prefer a little bit more hands-on time with something you're spending money on and lucky for you the team at Ascension Games have provided a playable demo (which you can find on the Kickstarter page). While the demo is really only touching the surface of what this game is planned to be, it was more than enough to suck me in. As of now only two days remain for the Kickstarter with $10,000 still needing to be raised. Do you think we can do it? Head over to the Kickstarter page here to place your bets.

Ittle Dew, A Zelda-Inspired Adventure Game Is Out Now

In all honesty, I'm a sucker for anything that follows The Legend of Zelda formula, which would explain my infatuation with Ittle Dew. The developers at Ludosity seem to have crafted an awesome homage to the series while maintaining a it's own identity. The overall tone and level of danger is more in line with the likes of Humongous Entertainment (Freddy Fish, Spy Fox, Putt-Putt) than that of the Zelda series.

The puzzles in Ittle Dew seem to be a bit more skill-based than the likes of the Zelda series, which raises an eyebrow for the possible challenges ahead. With a charming art-style that fits perfectly in lnie with the games set of humor, Ittle Dew is definitely a feel good nostalgia kick. For $13.99 you can pick up Ittle Dew and start enjoying it today. It even comes with a Steam code for it's Steam release later this month!

The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past 2 Gets A New Subtitle, Becomes A Link Between Worlds

After the announcement of the new 3DS title from earlier this year, I've been eagerly anticipating returning to the Super NES world. The game looks absolutely fantastic and the mixture of new and old school mechanics really adds a lot of charm. What I find most exciting is seeing the first ever 60 FPS 3DS game, I can't wait to find out if my eyes don't bleed from the 3D.

Zelda Stop Motion Is Bad Ass

Revoltech toys have opened a lot of possibilities for stop motion animation, giving animators the chance to bring to life some amazing crossovers. This Zelda stop motion by happyhour is pretty damn badass and features a small cast of characters that you probably wouldn't expect to see meeting each other. With a mix of clay and the extraordinarily adjustable Revoltech figures, this animation is truly brilliant.

Corridor Digital Takes A Stab At The Legend Of Zelda

When Corridor Digital puts out a new video there's not a whole lot I can really say other than, wow~ In terms of special effects, this may not be the cream of Corridor Digitals crop, but they've definitely proven that a live action Zelda short doesn't have to be a cheesy parody to be enjoyable. I was actually intrigued by the amount of violence portrayed in this short, as I can't say I've ever thought of Zelda to be violent. Here's hoping to more entries like this!

Link's Awakening in 3D Is A Kick In The Nostalgia

Just a few days ago the second trailer for the fantastic looking indie title Two Brothers popped up, filling 90s gamers to the brim with Link's Awakening nostalgia. If that wasn't enough to flood you with memories, this will certainly drown you in it.

Map creator 8BitSandwhich has made this incredibly beautiful recreation of Mabe Villiage in the source engine. Set to a fantastically soothing Zelda remix, this is perfect for weekend dreamers. While I'd love to see a 3D recreation of Link's Awkening, this is probably as far as we'll ever get considering Nintendo's past stance on fan-made recreations.

Two Brothers; A Love Letter To Link's Awakening

One of my fondest memories growing up was sitting down in the middle of the living room and spending hours exploring the world of Link's Awakening. The game was absolutely mind blowing on a handheld device and some the visuals were pretty damn impressive for the time. ACKK Studios looks to be creating a similar gaming experience with Two Brothers, a top-down action adventure game in a very similar style of Link's Awakening (although I'm sensing sprinkles of Secret of Mana as well).

ACKK Studios claims that this title takes a very serious look at deaths in videos games, transporting them to the "Afterlife Hub" rather than your generic "Game Over" screen. With multiple endings and non-linear world, Two Brothers is quite an impressive feat that I can't wait to dive into. The title hits this Summer on PC, XBLA, WiiU eShop, Mac and Linux.

Majora's Mask Wallet Needs To Hold My Cash

via
I've never been one to worry about what my wallet looks like, but this has definitely made me second guess. Jacob Vadnais has created one of the coolest gaming inspired accessory I've ever laid eyes on and I'm already getting ready to make a wallet transfer. Unfortunately, as much as we'd all like to own one, his Etsy store seems to be completely out for the time being.

For the time being you can hit the jump to take a look at the amazing detail. Who knows, maybe by the time you're done there will be more back in stock.

Mega64: Skyward Sword

The Mega64 crew returns with a new skit which masterfully captures the downside to videogame motion controls in public, using Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword as the prime example. No matter how hard you try, you're going to look like an idiot to everyone else, if the controls are even responsive. I'll stick to classic controllers, thank you very much.

Joel Furtado's 'Zelda: The Lost Oracle'

The Wind Waker has always held an extremely special place in my list of favorite Zelda games; first place. The scope of the game was magnificent, and provided players with one of the most epic journeys ever seen in a Zelda entry. While the game was magnificent, it's the commercial that pumped me up more than anything (that commercial still gives me chills).  Joel Furtado has managed to recreate that feeling of Zelda epicness with a fake commercial for the fake game, Zelda: The Lost Oracle. I've never been more excited for a game that doesn't exist. The end Ganon scene is simply amazing!

The Legend Of Cucco

One bad chicken. (Via)
A new take on a old joke. In the Legend Of Zelda series, the Cucco will will attack you if provoked. But DjBisparulz and rickadias on Deviantart explore a new idea; how can the Hero of Time use this to his advantage?

Penny-Arcade And Nintendo Team Up, Zelda Style

I'm falllliiinnnggg. (Via)
I'm looking forward to one of the most anticipated Nintendo releases of the year; Zelda: Skyward Sword coming out tomorrow. I'm so excited I'm going to unearth my Wii from the mound of dust that's accumulated on it after 6 months of non-use. But something that gets me more excited? Nintendo commissioned the awesome folks at Penny-Arcade to create a special mini series comic in order to celebrate the arrival of this highly rated new entry to the franchise.

The comic will be released weekly in five installments on a special website that Nintendo setup here. Next frame should be out in a few days time!

Legend Of Zelda 3DS Taunts Americans; Europeans Celebrate

It only took a long time, but Nintendo finally released what the fans wanted (Via)
Sometimes being British works in my favor. Especially with amazing exclusives like this absolutely amazing Zelda themed 3DS.

Nintendo of Europe just announced a limited edition, Legend of Zelda-branded black 3DS for release on November 25. It includes a free copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. It's frustrating because my 3DS barely has any play outside of Zelda OTT. The early adopters (like myself and Robobrain) are really kicking ourselves right now.

The bundle is properly titled ‘The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Limited Edition’ system, and it's beautiful. Check out some legendary shots of the limited edition handheld after the break!

Legend Of Zelda Rap Is OTT

The Legend of Zelda has always been a huge franchise with colourful characters, interesting story and chicks. Hot chicks. Let's not forget rapping. I'm sure Run DMC helped with the soundtrack for Link to Dat Past. This clever take on the franchise features an elaborate production of rapping, beaches and women of a questionable nature.

If you want to download the track by comedy group Hiimram you can get this sick tune via iTunes here. Be getting those rupees y'all.

An Evolutionary Chart of the Zelda Universe

A long, long time ago we posted these awesome dissections of popular 8-bit characters by artist Jude Buffum. Today we're back with this goddamn incredible piece featuring nearly every(200 to be precise) biological creature within the Zelda universe, created for the LA-based iam8bit art show. The Deku tree's branches allow for you to follow the evolutionary path of each species, making you realize how f**king huge the Zelda universe is.

I want a print of this incredibly bad, but as it stands only 15 will be made and sold at iam8bit. What a shame, because Jude should really just take my money. Check out his website over here and download the full sized image which includes a much closer look at the wording near the bottom(hint: each species has been given a latin name).

Matt Cummings Returns With 9 More Zelda Bosses!

Much earlier this year we stumbled onto Matt Cummings and his f***ing amazing take on the bosses of Zelda. I feel like it's already Christmast, because Matt just posted a brand new batch of bosses. God damn they are cool! While Link remains stylistically cartoony, Matt's sense of scale between Link and his foes is spot on. I already want more, but I guess I'll have to wait another half-a-year for next batch! (Don't do this to me Matt)

Hit the jump for larger sizes! Also, head over to Matt's tumblr where you can download a wallpaper sized version of the image above here, I'm already using it.

Zac Gorman Shows Us That Being A Hero Is Hard

Zac Gorman from Magical Game Time proves that even though Link's day-job may seem fun, it's not as easy as it looks. I definitely know what it's like to be misread when doing something nice, and I'm assuming you do as well(being misread is what I do best!). This quick three page comic (continued after the jumpe) is one of my favorite sets from Zac, which really shows off his unique style. If you enjoy Zac Gorman as much as I do, I HIGHLY suggest you check out his website here. I 100% love his use of animation and still images.

He Draws Nintendo

A couple weeks ago I had seen this piece floating around the internet and fell in love with the artist's awesome style. Today, I come back with presents for you, created by artist Zac Gorman, for his tumblr I Draw Nintendo (which is awesome and I recommend you all follow). Zac's style has a neat retro-90's-vibe (are the 90's considered retro yet? Good god I hope not, but I'll leave that there just in case) while also mixing in animated cells to get your artsy private parts all tingly.

Seriously though, I never thought about using chickens this way. They're possibly the most powerful beings in Hyrulean existence, able to withstand EVERYTHING, only to turn around and peck the ever living sh** out of you. F*** those guys.

Hit the jump to see a large collection of Zac Gorman's comic work and then jump on over to his Tumblr to check out even more!.

Ocarina of Time 3D Just Got More Real

When you have Santa advertising your product? You know it's big.
Who knew Robin Williams knows just as much about Zelda as we do? Turns out that Robin Williams actually named his daughter, Zelda Williams after the video game character when she was born back in 1989, not 1987 as the ad claims.
