"Mother Brain's Revenge" By Leigh Flurry

(Via)
Created for Streets Of Beige's 16 Bit Brawl exhibition, UK based illustrator Leigh Flurry created this most excellent tribute to arguably the best Metroid ever (In the side scrolling category). Featuring the likes of Mother Brain, Craid, Crocomire, Phantoon and all the other bosses in Super Metroid, his tribute is quite an eyeful.

Check out a breakdown of all the individual elements of Mother Brain's Revenge after the break, and you can view the rest of the entries for the Streets Of Beige exhibition over here. Enjoy!

Super Metroid Animation

Super Metroid is one of the few games that I can safely deem as perfect, the game lacks any type of flaw and each play through is a joy. Dave Rapoza's animated take on the series is an awesome nod to the SNES classic with an equally fantastic style. Each individual frame does an incredible job at capturing the games essence and the sketchy-style lends itself well with the game's amazing pixel-art.

While a bit on the short side (I want more, dammit!) Rapoza's take on the series is definitely worth taking a minute out of your day to watch, so get to it! For more of Dave Rapoza's work you can visit his website over here, he's been working on an original animation for quite sometime and it's looking pretty radical.

These Metroid Figures Are Amazing

Unlike RoboBrain and RoboGal, I don't generally have the spare money to throw at figures and toys. Yes, I secretly wish I had the money, but there comes a point where you need to throw money that you don't have. In this case, I plan to throw my imaginary money at these two amazing Metroid: Other M figures. Both of these beautifully painted figures are must for me(and probably you as well!), and the price sounds just right. For about $40 the Samus Aran can be yours, and for around $80 you can stare at Zero Suit Samus all day!

If you want to give both figures a pre-order, head over to AmiAmi!

Retro Metroid Cosplay Is Spritelicious

Samus VS. A Chozo Statue (Via)
Oh hell yes...I can't believe that this hasn't  been done before. Chozoboy from Deviantart came up with the idea of printing out the sprite sheet of Samus from the classic Super Metroid title and cutting it up into pieces to wear. The suit debuted at PAX and people have been going nuts over it. Pro: It gives the illusion of your favorite sprites in an uncanny real setting. Con: This cosplay only works if viewed from the side. Kudos to these guys for thinking outside the box. Check out two more images after the break!

He Draws Nintendo

A couple weeks ago I had seen this piece floating around the internet and fell in love with the artist's awesome style. Today, I come back with presents for you, created by artist Zac Gorman, for his tumblr I Draw Nintendo (which is awesome and I recommend you all follow). Zac's style has a neat retro-90's-vibe (are the 90's considered retro yet? Good god I hope not, but I'll leave that there just in case) while also mixing in animated cells to get your artsy private parts all tingly.

Seriously though, I never thought about using chickens this way. They're possibly the most powerful beings in Hyrulean existence, able to withstand EVERYTHING, only to turn around and peck the ever living sh** out of you. F*** those guys.

Hit the jump to see a large collection of Zac Gorman's comic work and then jump on over to his Tumblr to check out even more!.

Nintendo Gets A Construction Paper Makeover

My good friend Jay makes some amazing prints with a very simplistic style. When you mix Jay's amazing style with some amazing Nintendo games you get something awesome. Over at Jay's website Room 237, you can pick up this print and a few more for less than ten dollars each, quite a steal if you ask me (the quality is outstanding).
