"Replay" - A 17 Minute Metal Tribute To Videogames

One intense week of work, 38 song covers of classic videogame tracks and a total of 17 minutes running time - This is Replay, an incredible videogame themed passion project created by FamilyJules7X. Spanning a total of 42 years worth of videogames starting with 1972's Pong and ending with this year's Dark Souls II, it's an absolutely amazing medley from start to finish. Enjoy!

Why would I do that, you may ask. Why would I give myself a week to produce a 17 minute medley with 38 songs and also incorporate techniques like green screening I've never even practiced for video before? Because if there's anything I've tried to do in these past 4 years of being on YouTube and not just with video game covers, it's push myself to my absolute potential. What you're watching is literally the best I can do given a week to put a video together and I'm not sure I can ever top this in that amount of time. I had a ridiculously fun time making this.

J.Viewz Playing Massive Attack's 'Teardrop' With Vegetables

Definitely had to check the calendar a few times to make sure it wasn't April, although I'm still on the fence about this one. J.Viewz (Jonathan Dagan) is known as a bit of a tinkerer in regards to his approach to creating music, but this definitely raised some eyebrows. Harnessing the power of vegetables into MIDI signals seems like a stretch, but if he actually did manage to rig this entire setup, this performance is pretty damn genius.

DeRezzed On Five Floppy Drives

Old floppy drives, scanners and printers never fail to amaze me when put in the right hands. Most of these devices have found second lives as musical instruments. Youtube user Mr.SolidSnake745 used some software created by the MIDI community and a few decrepit floppy drives to create these epic, crunchy remakes of these classic tunes. Check out three more demakes after the break!

Ohio - Justice (Lovesluts Remix)

This fantastic cover by the Lovesluts is based off the excellent Justice/Midnight Juggernauts collab. The track, which was simply called 'Ohio', was one of my favorite tracks from "Audio, Video, Disco," the recently released, and long awaited Justice release. It's a mellow, laid-back track that picks up nicely and is the equivalent of a road trip for your ears. Seeing that Justice hasn't released a music video for the track yet, this was the best excuse I could find to finally post it seeing that the cover is pretty damn good. Enjoy.

Rafael Albuquerque Is The Only Reason I Still Read 'American Vampire'

The upcoming American Vampire #17

With San Diego Comic-Con this week, I feel it's an appropriate time to go full out with comic book coverage. American Vampire started out sounding really interesting, a story of America's history filled to the brim with a secret society of vampires(who may or may not be impacting our everyday lives), co-written by Stephen King(at least the early issues) and lead by one of my personal favorite writers, Scott Snyder(seriously, read the most recent run of Detective Comics and try not to love the guy's style).

While the premise sounded fantastic and the team onboard sounded stellar, the series premiered with an extremely rocky start; it was all over the place. Most of the time it was difficult to understand what was going on without going back-and-forth between issues, and other than Skinner Sweet, the characters didn't quite stick with me. Yet I kept reading. Why? If the above cover-art doesn't answer that question, I'm not really sure what else to say.

Rafael Albuquerque has quickly become one of my favorite comic book artists and consistently puts out work that blows me away. I'd actually like to thank Albuquerque, because without him I wouldn't have stuck around with a series that has recently become one of my favorite. Despite it's rocky start, Scott Snyder has finally found solid footing which doesn't look to be losing traction anytime soon. Hit the jump to see a complete collection of Rafael Albuquerue's American Vampire work.

Acoustic Cover of Game of Thrones Theme

If you haven't noticed, we here at Awesome Robo! love us some "Game of Thrones".  Since my poor little heart is breaking due to having to wait another year for Season 2, I can find a little solace in this beautiful acoustic rendition of the show's title theme song.

Amazing Killer Queen Cover

Fredde Gredde, the awesome Swedish singer behind the cartoon medley we posted a while back returns with his new 8 clone cover of Killer Queen. I have no idea how he broke it down into individual elements so well, but I think the final result turned out fantastic. We need more clone army covers on Youtube.

Adventure Drums: ET Drum Cover

Adventure Drums is a channel everyone should check out at some point. This guy just coined the term 'troll drummer.' In this cover he spends a few minutes pointing out how unimaginative and simple the drum beat in the Katy Perry track is without saying a word, then proceeding to destroy the song with his own take on what the beat should have been like. He's badass, and kind of looks like our very own editor, Unicorn. Show this guy some love by checking out the other videos on his Youtube channel.

Song Of Storms Cover

The group known as Amazing Brand did an awesome job on adding lyrics and rocking out to the classic Ocarina Of Time track. In 2 minutes you'll experience a few genres in this odd hybrid, but overall its a fun little track.
