We featured Good Sport's music video for Pushover back in December. Video director Geoff Hoskinson has now brought us the new video he did for Sleepwalker's single, Dirty As Hell.  It's the perfect track for a long car ride out on the open road. Tokyo Jihen Delivers A Catchy Music Video

Tokyo Jihen, which translates to 'Tokyo Incidents' is a band that was formed in 2003 after the female lead singer, Ringo Shena decided to start a band after a successful solo career. This recent track is an energetic mix of Jazz, Rock and Pop..and its catchy as hell. Seeing that the band has always attempted to push its limits creatively, this recent track is sung completely in English. These guys need to migrate to Western shores, and bring this sound with them.

This music video made my day. The retro electro pop and the chill sound just make for an amazing, relaxing music video. The fact that they paid tribute to all kinds of retro visual effects that were so novel back in the eighties, like ghosting and bright neon colors just makes this an excellent tribute to both the sound and the visuals from back in the day. This track really deserves a lot more love.

Rusko: Everyday

Rusko - Everyday

This new music video features the lo-fi, crunchy sound that Rusko has been exploring recently. Retro samples, including some recognizable Atari bits lay down the audio narrative..Visually, its an interesting exploration of small town life in the desert and its inhabitants in Salvation Mountain, California. There's no real message here, just snapshots of daily life to accompany the track. Nonetheless, it makes you wonder what the back story of this place and the people are.

The Many Dances Of Forsythe

 

We recently stumbled onto Forsythe, another freestyle dancer on Youtube.  His focus?  Dressing up awesome and dancing in an awesome fashion to awesome music.  All from the comfort of what appears to be his astroturf/green shag carpeted den.  Aside from having a variety of dances, he also dresses to the part and enjoys a wide variety of different elctro artists.  If names like Skrillex, Mr. Oizo, Parov Stelar, or Crystal Castles ring a bell, this will be a treat.  If not, open your mind and enjoy the wide variety of artists Forsythe dances to.

Beastie Boys: Hot Sauce Committee Part Two

 

The trailer above was for the upcoming Beastie Boys short called: You Gotta Fight For Your Right revisited, a 30 minute short that will debut with their conspicuously titled new album after all these years: Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. 

The short is so packed with cameos that it nearly came off as an SNL sketch, and whats with the title?  It seems like Beastie Boys are trying to bring back the classic track, if not their own very distinct style in a big way for a new generation.  The new album will be hitting stores, online and offline on May 3.  Get more info about the upcoming release on the Beastie Boys website.

Woodkid: Iron

Simply beautiful.  Its been a long time since I've seen a music video that gave off such an epic vibe. Its a visual feast that will put you in a trance, and the song itself is awesome too.  The instrumental array they chose just amplified the feeling of grandeur, with the use of heavy drums and trumpets.  The interesting thing about this music video is that the frontman of Woodkid himself, Yoanne Lemoine directed this. Fantastic stuff.

Song Of Storms Cover

The group known as Amazing Brand did an awesome job on adding lyrics and rocking out to the classic Ocarina Of Time track. In 2 minutes you'll experience a few genres in this odd hybrid, but overall its a fun little track.

Broken Bells: The Ghost Inside

A great music video: sweet music, cute girl, and cyborg moral of the story. They also made it using retro tech, filming models instead of CG. Twice as beautiful for the old school love. Watch a making of video after the jump.

One Man Disney Musical

You may or may not remember a post RoboBrain did a while ago featuring this guy, Nick Pitera (you can find the post here).  I only have one word to sum this guy up: AMAZING!  His voice, his range is incredible. Plus, he covers Disney movies, which are near-and-dear to my heart.  Enjoy!

Capsule: Episode 3

Yasutaka Nakata founded the electropop group known as Capsule back in 1997, and has since been producing creative audiovisual experiences as well as remixes for more mainstream artists.

This recent series known as the 'Space Station' series is comprised of 4 episodes, on the most part presented in a really beautiful hand animated style. The above episode deals with a girl and her jelly robot finding love in the unlikeliest of places, set to really smooth electropop. Its colorful and uplifting, and the perfect video for the middle of the week.

Why Rebecca Black, Why?

ROBOBRAIN:
The internet has been abuzz about a certain Rebecca Black and her music video known as 'Friday.'  The video quietly dropped in mid-February and was all of a sudden noticed this weekend, garnering views and most of all a lot of critics simply asking, "Why?"  This ear-grating music video features a bunch of prepubescent teens chirping about the end of the week, cereal and 'fun, fun, fun.' Is it a joke? Was it created intentionally bad to garner controversy? Nope. These music videos are the product of some creepy music producer who looks like a harlequin wax statue of Usher. We're just guessing that his 'thing' is reaching out to 13-year old girls for a chance to be part of their own pipe dream music career.  I guess he overlooked the fact that getting a cameo in a music video full of prepubescent girls isn't exactly the ideal way to get cred on the internet.

ROBOGAL:
While watching this video, I can only assume that it was a result of a local junior high contest.  The school had some sort of contest, or drawing, or whatever, and the prize was a chance to make your own semi low-grade music video.  Rebecca is cute enough, but lacks charisma.  Also lacking is any sort of singing ability, as evidenced by the horrendous auto-tuning.*  Even the league of current mediocre pop stars and Disney Channel brats have a smidge of talent.  The "artist" aside, the song in itself is an annoying repetition of common sense.  Singing about getting picked up in a car already occupied by her friends: "Kickin' in the front seat, sittin' in the back seat. Gotta make my mind up. Which seat can I take?"  Well, missy, that is a toughy.  Then there's the Days of the Week Lesson: "Tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards."  No shit?!

*Update: In all fairness, I wanted to update that I recently saw a clip of Rebecca singing naturally (you can see it here), and I must say, she's an actually a fairly good singer!  It's too bad that she was shittily auto-tuned on a horrible song.

So this new music video popped up for Ritalin's Dancing Pigeon track.  Lets go down the list here...  Gorgeous slow motion?  Check.  Flamethrowers?  Check.  Screaming, funny looking guys duking it out?  Check.  We've got all the ingredients for an amazing music video here, folks.  Enjoy.

The Sonic Cubes

If you thought Daft Punk had cool helmets, these Swiss DJ's are taking it to the next level with animated pixel display faces.  Seeing that its a cube, that means 5 faces of animated goodness.  Pretty awesome electro music too.  My only critique would be that their only fan page is on Myspace, or my______ or whatever the hell that dead end website is going by these days.  Facebook, anyone?

This awesome music video to Jason Forrest's War Photographer is quite badass. Cool tunes, vikings, robots and rainbow vomiting trumpets set to a visual style that kind of reminds me of Dreamworks' recent How To Train Your Dragon flick. Dig it.

Birdy Nam Nam : Parachute Ending

An awesome track from the French group Birdy Nam Nam.  Reminds me of Justice, Boys Noize, and a few other great groups thrown into a blender.  The music video has some really awesome retro aesthetics too.  Looking forward to what they come up with next.
