Haim - "If I Could Change Your Mind"

If you get a familiar vibe while watching Haim's latest and greatest, chalk it up to Warren Fu, who's worked on the last few retro Daft Punk music videos. The faded 70's quality captured in the productions music video gels well with the groups already retro inspired sound. Since their debut last year, the LA based pop rock outfit has been making some amazing waves. I always get vibes of 80's pop bands listening to Haim, but they've always described themselves as more of a 70's soft rock outfit with R&B elements. Enjoy.

Panama - "Always"

Australian outfit Panama have dropped a wonderful end of summer track from their latest EP, 'Always.' Light, laid back pop tunes set the stage for a narrative regarding children being irresponsibly abandoned, but ultimately finding a way to work together while conflict bubbles up between the child's mother and a former lover.

Despite the initial upbeat sound of the track, it ultimately cracks and slows down to a crawl halfway through when drastic measures are ultimately taken, and things start to get surreal. Directed by Nice Idea Everyday, really enjoyed the non-linear visual narration throughout.

Adrian Sieber - "Round Round Song"

Directed by Kino Pravda, Adrian Sieber's 'Round Round Song' is an abstract, gif powered visual feast, using a mixture of stereoscopic techniques, loops and clever compositing to create a fitting accompaniment to the similarly themed lyrics. Sieber is a Swiss pop singer who is also involved in the Britpop group Lovebugs, although he also goes by the name of 'Adrian Solo' on his more singular efforts. If you like music videos like this, you should also check out Dan Konono's 'Konono Ripoff N°1.'

Music Video Roundup : Phoenix, Beach Houses

Reminiscent of Cloud Atlas in it's concept, Phoenix's ambitious new video for their latest track, 'Entertainment' offers us a glimpse of a love story reoccurring over the ages in South Korea, with plenty of conflict thrown in for good measure. Despite it's exotic theme, the distinct alt-rock sound of the French band is as familiar as ever. The track is from their upcoming Bankrupt! album, which you can preorder here before it's April 23 launch.



Eric Wareheim of Tim&Eric fame returns to the music video directing biz for 'Wishes,' bringing along Ray Palmer for an absolutely bizarre appearance as a singer at a retrofuturistic, hybrid sport event. Thanks to the soft lyrical prowess of Beach House's main vocalist, the entire affair is a strangely dreamy, surreal version of a half time sports show. If you want more bizarro retro-futuristic sport music videos, I'd also recommend checking out Justice's awesome 'New Lands' video.

Dutch Uncles - Fester

Excellent vocals highlighted by a mixture of marimba and xylophone melodies make up the meat of the Dutch Uncles fantastic single, 'Fester.' A total of 80 hours of timelapsed crystallic visuals and chemical reactions symbolize the evolution of a sound and ideas that have been a long time in the making.

M83 : Reunion

Ah, narrative music video series. Love 'em! M83 just released a sequel to their equally fantastic Midnight City, following a group of highly gifted children linked by a mental bond attempting to escape their captors and reunite. If they keep going down this route though, I'll be left thinking they're trying to recreate Akira. Tokyo Jihen Delivers A Catchy Music Video

Tokyo Jihen, which translates to 'Tokyo Incidents' is a band that was formed in 2003 after the female lead singer, Ringo Shena decided to start a band after a successful solo career. This recent track is an energetic mix of Jazz, Rock and Pop..and its catchy as hell. Seeing that the band has always attempted to push its limits creatively, this recent track is sung completely in English. These guys need to migrate to Western shores, and bring this sound with them.
