Green Lantern: The Animated Series Starts Tommorow!

Just a friendly reminder! The 3D CG Green Lantern series, created by Batman: The Animated Series co-creator/producer Bruce Timm, has a hour-long special that airs tomorrow at 7 p.m. (ET, PT) on Cartoon Network. The series will then start airing early 2012.

This preview is the first look of the highly anticipated series and promises non-stop space battles, aliens and no origin stories. Even if you didn't enjoy the film, I highly suggest you check out the show considering the pedigree of the people involved in it.

Pretty cool hey? I liked the movie, so I get a free skin and a good movie in preparation for the game on friday, which happens to be my birthday. Just saying that's going to be one great birthday.

Another day, another Batman Arkham City DLC skin. I bet you are getting bored of them now. But what if I said this one involved Green Lantern? Now I have your attention.

See The Green Lantern Animated Series Footage Now!

In Brightest Day! The Comic-con footage of the Green Lantern show has been officially released and I must say that its really got some charm. I'm quite looking forward to seeing how the entire show is handled, even though I can already tell they had to tame the Red Lanterns for a younger audience.

Also, I personally have grown to love the Bruce Timm inspired animated style, what about you guys?

Comic-Con 11: You'll Love This Green Lantern: The Animated Series Clip

As one of the only sites who liked the Green Lantern film, we here at Awesome Robo have been waiting with great patience for new footage and held our breath that this show would be worth our time. As it terms out? It's looking promising and this clip made me laugh out loud.

The series is being created by Bruce Timm, the mastermind behind the 1990's Batman & Superman animated shows, both amazing & beloved. Whilst not a big fan of CGI animation, this style is growing on me. How about you guys? Let us know in the comments.

Early Green Lantern Movie Art

An early take on Hal Jordan's Green Lantern suit. (Via)

We recently ran into a cache of early preproduction for the Green Lantern movie by 3d artist Tsvetomir Georgiev, one of the guys behind fleshing out the looks of the characters in the movie early on.

Unlike what most of the critics might have been telling you recently, Green Lantern actually wasn't half as bad as they made it out to be. Most of us at Awesome-Robo went to see the movie recently, due to hearing from friends that it didn't warrant the harsh review that it received. If you liked Thor, or Xmen: First Class, this is another origin story that doesn't do anything differently from the other summer super hero movies. I actually liked Green Lantern more than Thor! We've discussed it quite a bit on our forums, come join the discussion!

A bunch of early movie art after the break. Pretty cool to see how some of the designs changed over the few years it was under development.

Vintage Green Lantern Cosplay

(Via)
Even in the 40's cosplayer's were really popular. Fred Lipps Jr. masquerades as the Green Lantern on Mardi Gras March 5, 1946.

Fred Lipps Jr., 13, donned the costume and was photographed at his aunt's house on Polymnia Street, near the corner of Dryades, in Central City.
Home sick from school a few days earlier, Fred and his mother dyed some long johns, and a sheet for the cape, an appropriate shade of green and painted the yellow circle, with the iconic lantern, on a shirt.

Alan Scott always was the best Green Lantern.

Watch the First Footage of 'Green Lantern: The Animated Series'

Last October fans were excited to hear about the Green Lantern TV show. Today, almost a year on? We get our first look at the series.

Produced by Bruce Timm, the much loved animator behind such DC Comics-based hits as Batman: The Animated series and Justice League Unlimited. The series is animated with 3D CGI models, stars Green Lantern Hal Jordan and the rest of the famous characters of the Green Lantern Corps, and will debut this year on Cartoon Network.

In Brightest Day, In Piggy's Light

Sometimes it's not easy being Green, especially when you are the only frog within the Muppet Lantern Corps....This is one of the newest posters for The Muppets Movie, a reboot of the classic series that I am pretty excited about. The poster is a great tie in to the upcoming Green Lantern movie, another movie I am super hyped for.

On that note, expect to see a Green Lantern review up tomorrow...Not only for the flick, but for the video game too. Double whammy.

Update: A Green Lantern flavored trailer just got posted too! Go figure.

MCM Expo: Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters Breaks The Mold Of Video Game Movies

Lets face it. These days, movie Video Game tie-ins are notorious for being cheap cash-ins, with poor gameplay and even worse graphics. I've seen the best and the worst, but they tend to be medocre products not worthy of gamers time and money. So when the Rise of the Manhunters was announced I had conflicting feelings: I'm a huge Green Lantern but I was worried the product just wouldn't stand up to the challenge. After playing it at MCM Expo, I can confirm that Rise of the Manhunters is, in fact, one of the best tie-ins I've played in years.
