Steampunk Lego Construct - The Amagosa

Based off of Theo Jansen's incredible kinetic sculpture principles, dubbed as 'Strandebeests,' Lego hobbyist/brick head Jason Allemann created a truly unorthodox land ship with mechanized leg functions powered and controlled by Lego Power Functions, typically intended for the more advanced 'Technic' sets.

Aside from it's incredible walking system, 'The Amagosa' features a whole slew of awesome little features, ranging from a fully functional crane to a rather cool trading ship flavor with post apocalyptic elements. It's just really cool to see people replicate the engineers massive scaled creations and incorporate them into this medium, which I originally wouldn't have though possible. Allemann has shared the how-to for building the walking structure on his Rebrickable page, which allows creators to share the building instructions for their Lego creations.

Ian Finch-Field's Wearable Art

(Via)
We've seen steampunk, but we haven't seen steampunk done as throrough and beautiful as this.  Canadian artist/craft-maker Ian Finch-Field's work in wearable art (or, costume, I suppose) is absolutely stunning, and I find myself just pouring over his deviantart page. Some of his work can also be found on etsy.

Denis Medri's Steampunk Spiderman

Steampunk Peter Parker (Via)
Italian comic book artist Denis Medri returns yet again with an alternate dimension take on Spiderman that I totally would have paid money to see on the big screen. Calling on elements of Victorian era steampunk, Medri redesigned Spiderman and a good chunk of the more memorable villains, and the results turned out awesome in my opinion.

I still haven't had a chance to see the Andrew Garfield Spiderman reboot, partially due to the fact that I'm not terribly interested in supporting a reboot just five years after the last movie. If you're going to do such a reboot, why not actually try to stand out from the shadow that the original movie is still casting? More steampunk baddies after the break!

Prada's Fall 2012 Steampunk Flair

(Via)
Very interesting. As part of their fall 2012 lineup, Prada unveiled their 'Il Palazzo: A Palace Of Role Play' collection featuring some familiar faces in some rather eye catching outfits. The aesthetics truly did end up feeling like something that could be straight out of a steampunk universe, with some truly industrial feeling combinations that begged for some more copper and leather. The actual theme of the show is a lot more amusing, focusing on the illusion of appearing more important with deceptively fancy looking clothing. Read more about it here. More images after the break!

Doktor A's Steampunk Toys

(Via)
Always on the lookout for amazing toys (I think we mentioned our Ashley Wood "Blind Cowboy" a time or two... Or a lot.), I just came across the work of an artist and sculptor who goes by the moniker Doktor A. He draws some very clear inspiration from children's stories with a Steampunk style. Though based in the UK, his online store does offer international shipping. Something for us to keep in mind...

More after the break! And don't forget to check out Doktor A's site!

The Art Of Dmitriy Khristenko: Steampunk Insects & Other Clockwork Creations

Steampunk: In a nutshell (Via)

Steampunk is a fantastic movement that has achieved ever increasing popularity over the last few years. In case you've never heard of the genre, its a visual style that embraces victorian era aesthetics and technology powered by steam. These statues, made by Deviantart user Dmitriy Khristenko, are a mixture of mythical creatures, extinct beasts and mechanical insects made from gears and various other mechanical parts.

You'll be amazed at how detailed each piece is! I took a few minutes on each one trying to figure out where the different parts came from. Some of my favorite pieces that he created are a variety of motorcycles made from various pieces of watches. They are visually amazing and I'd absolutely love to have one of these gracing my art shrine shelf. The complete collection is viewable after the break!

Gvozdariki's Steampunk Zoo

(Via)
Russian artist Vladimir Gvozdev, also known as Gvozdariki, has a special touch when it comes to the steampunk genre.  His mechanic animal menagerie is nothing short of whimsical, and somehow a bit childlike.  As in, there is a small sense of wonder captured in each painting.  So it should come as no big surprise that Gvozdariki has a fascination with recapturing his childhood, as evidenced by his most favorite art medium: creating dolls.  Check out his other work at his blog.

More of Gvozdariki's steampunk zoo after the jump!

Steampunk Nerf Gun

(Via)
This badass steampunk inspired Nerf gun is one of a kind.  Literally.  Made by a guy in Spain, it has already been sold on eBay, sadly.  But it's pretty damn awesome, and worth a mention.  Made from wood planks from an old chair, the scope works, and it's powered by AA batteries.  We're gonna have to revisit this guy's page, see what else he comes up with in the future!

Sweet Steampunk Joystick

Created by b15sdm on the Shoryuken.com forums (Via)
This awesome custom joystick was built by one of the fighting game enthusiasts over at the Shoryuken forums. As well as being stuffed full of legit clock pars, copper piping, and a sweet see through plexiglass body..The buttons also light up on activation. However, the peripheral does not emit steam on cooldown. Check out a ton of closeup images, including the badass stick after the break!
