"Wonderzine Swimwear" Promo Is Strangely Unsettling

Now this is how you promote a swimsuit line. Employing a stop motion look enabled by the usage of rapidly alternating footage captured from two cameras set slightly apart, director Pavel Samokhvalov took this fashion shoot into an unexpected realm. Classical music plays softly in the background over the sounds of crashing waves, and the final result is a very Lynch inspired affair in it's surreality. Swimwear was created for Wonderzine, a Russian online fashion mag with a very distinct edge.

Missing Tiger - A Film As Sweet As IceSugarHammerCream

David Zimmerman's Missing Tiger fits the fashion film bill quite nicely: Beautiful visuals? Check. Plenty of suggestive imagery throughout? Check. A very abstract high level concept driving the vision of the short? Check and double check. With all that out of the way, enjoy this visually stimulating film about making it in the cutthroat fashion industry.

The plot functions as a parable and the meaning is produced by symbolic conjunctions. There are two young women whose relationship is not conclusively resolved: Are they friends, lovers or enemies? Who killed who? One of the two women takes over the symbolic role of the young designer and the other symbolizes the fashion environment in which she has to survive.

Road, Poison, Angel - High Fashion Films By Ruslan Pelykh

Ruslan Pelykh is a Russian filmmaker and director based out of Moscow, and man does he have a knack for doing some truly amazing high fashion videos. Fantastically art directed, his most recent videos for Road and Poison are sultry in their own way yet immersed in a shroud of total darkness.

Forms mesh, flow and meld into all new amalgams and possiblities with an incredible fluidity enhanced by fantastically paired Massive Attack tracks. Check out the similarly themed Poison and the more light hearted Angel after the break.

LED Surfer

Ever try snowboarding in the dark? Aside from being insanely dangerous, the thrill of rocketing down a hill with only a few feet of visibility is pretty intense. Fashion photographer/filmmaker Jacob Sutton directed this experimental shoot featuring pro Artec snowboarder William Hughes using a custom made LED suit, and it's nothing short of mesmerizing to see the light diffusing through the powder kicked up by the board at night.

The Art Of Machine56 - Art, Fashion And Beyond

Machine56 is following the same type of path that I would imagine put people like Ashley Wood in their current predicament, as both an artist and hawker of premium products based off his work. Whereas Ashley went down the route of incredible (And expensive) toys with his 3A line, I get the feeling that Machine (Rajaya Yogaswara) has similar plans in a more apparel oriented direction.

Inspired by the Designers Republic (The same folks behind the awesome graphic design for the Wipeout franchise), scifi and a love for clean vector art, you can see the groundwork being laid for something big to come later. Most of the art he's created with his group of like minded friends eventually ties in to some form of limited edition apparel that's sold in his Machine56 store, the type of practice that leads to a cult following and day one sold out releases. Maria Ke Fisherman's Fall/Winter 2013 Cyberpunk Fashion Collection

We don't typically post much in terms of fashion, mainly due to A)The amount of rehashing that occurs in that industry and B)Not having the means to license fashion photography for our quaint blog. Yet in the case of the techy fashion collective Maria Ke Fisherman, a Spanish duo consisting of Maria Lemus and Victor Alsono, they boldly chose to forego the cliché, designing a line of clothes based off of hazy, idealized memories of the early 90's onslaught of new cross cultural stimuli.

The duo collaborated with director Tomás Peña to visualize their collection and capture that  distinct aesthetic trapped in their mind's eye. The end result is colorful, blurry and strangely reminiscent of the type of aesthetic captured in Harmony Korine's venus flytrap of a film: Spring Breakers.

Creepy Couture - Robotic Spider Dress

Created by fashion designer Anouk Wipprechy and hacker/engineer Daniel Schatmayr, this sensor equipped piece of robotic fashion was crafted to react and attack based off of proximity of people approaching the wearer. The 'fashiontech' piece was presented at the Vive Le Robots event in Prague just recently. Couldn't think of a better way to make your stance on arachnophobia known to others.

NYC Takes Fashion To The Future

When we think of the future, the image that often comes to the mind revolves around one of the most famous films of all time, and the almighty, retrofuturistic car that made us ponder a future of flux capacitors and flying cars. Back To The Future is known for it's futuristic looking redesign of a car that was so ahead of it's time that it failed once, the DeLorean, which immortalized the vehicle into the collective nerd conciousness. So would you like to take a ride in one around Downtown NY?

Mike Lubrano converted DeLoreans into working taxis that look like Back to the Future time machines as part of a promotion for a fashion line called Nooka, and gave us all a nostalgic new look to a car design we all love so much. Tobi - The Art Of Japanese Construction Wear

On first glance, the pair above might look like they could be mech pilots or characters in a scifi film, but it turns out that this photo series by the clothing company known as 'Tobi' is simply covering modern Japanese construction workers. Tobi is in reference to tobi pants, a type of baggy pants typically worn by 'Tobi Shokunin,' high altitude construction workers in Japan.

The photo series was created by a clothing company specializing in premium Japanese construction wear, seeing that these construction crews take great pride in their profession, as reflected by their heavily customized and personalized clothing. Have you ever seen construction workers look this badass, or so full of personality? This photo series is an incredible look into a subculture I'd never heard about before, with a visual style that's unlike anything I've witnessed in 5 years of trawling for interesting fashion reference online. For somebody who works in the entertainment industry, I can say that this series is a veritable goldmine for anyone looking for clothing that would fit perfectly in a scifi setting. Louis Vuitton X Gundam

Gundam Astray : Louis Vuitton Edition

Deep down inside, I kind of wanted to believe this awesome collab was a reality, bringing an iconic anime series together with one of the world's most recognizable high fashion brands. It's not quite that, but an amazing 'what if' project created by a high level Korean gundam hobbyist known as 'Suny Buny.'

Using a Gundam Astray model kit as a base model, Suny did an amazing work on the detailing and color aspect, bringing in the iconic colors which have defined the Louis Vuitton brand for decades. Rich, reddish browns, golden accents and the iconic LV logo adorn this fine custom from head to boosters. I'd totally buy this, put it next to my Lego Rolls Royce replica, and admire it while sipping my $3 champagne. Check out more pics of this beauty after the break!

Prada's Fall 2012 Steampunk Flair

Very interesting. As part of their fall 2012 lineup, Prada unveiled their 'Il Palazzo: A Palace Of Role Play' collection featuring some familiar faces in some rather eye catching outfits. The aesthetics truly did end up feeling like something that could be straight out of a steampunk universe, with some truly industrial feeling combinations that begged for some more copper and leather. The actual theme of the show is a lot more amusing, focusing on the illusion of appearing more important with deceptively fancy looking clothing. The Louis Vuitton Groom Animations

In an interesting meeting of high fashion and animation, it turns out that Louis Vuitton has been creating beautiful little animations to commemorate the opening of new stores, all featuring a reoccurring character simply known as 'The Little Groom.' I couldn't find much information about the character, but he does appear to be a mascot of sorts for the brand who looks like a bell hop, aka a hotel porter.

These four animations were created for new stores in Rome, Seoul and Singapore respectively and all have a whimsical nature not always related to the store. We'll be sure to do Louis Vuitton unboxing videos when Awesome-Robo is bringing in 7 figures for us. A fashion photographer and a professional animator came together to create these beautiful little animations based off of real life photos. On a first glance you might think that these are simply gifs, which use a sequence of stills extracted from video. However, the technique these guys used involves isolating a small part of a photo sequence and making it seems animated while everything else stands still. The technique is relatively new and has been dubbed as a, "Cinemagraph." Check out 11 more of these moments frozen in time after the break!
