Street Video Game Fashion 2: Infamous Creed

Who wore it best?

If you want to have a slick, hip, memorable character for your parkour sandbox game, there are some rules you need to follow:

1. Short hair
2. Single-strap messenger bag
3. Tribal tattoos.
4. etc. etc.

More Street Video Game Fashion and incestuous game design after the jump!

I started a game in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, hoping for even more content than the last two amazing games.  Fighting in a siege battle and assassinating in the streets of Rome are excellent ways to spend your time.  Then I got to the Desmond Miles mission, and I felt I was playing a different game entirely.  I hopped above tight city streets with small gas efficient cars, using my special vision powers to find glowing electric power boxes.  Yep, I thought I was Cole Mcgrath for a minute.  Then comparing the characters, I realized that the similarities didn't stop there.

In conclusion, the first infamous game hit the nail on the head with Cole Mcgrath. Unfortunately, as more games try to cash in on that look; the hip, cool, slick character feels more formulaic.  The modern relevance and individuality that attracted people to the first character gets diluted in seeing further iterations of too-similar characters in different games.  The idea of using modern fashion in video game character design can lead to great relevant characters that players can connect with, but only as long as there is a variety in those characters.
