No matter which way you spin things, Resident Evil 4 was Capcom's last true survival horror entry, redefining the genre for a new generation. While games like the first Dead Space offered a return to true survival horror, the market seemed to shift towards a more action-oriented style of game (or so publishers claimed) pushing developers to drop the scary and focus on the pew-pew. The niche for survival horror remained and while it seemed that only indies were willing to truly touch the genre, Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami is looking to return to what cemented him as an all-star game designer.

E3 2012 Best Looking: Resident Evil 6
Lets face it, compared to Resident Evil 4, RE:5 was trash. Yeah, yeah, it was a fun a co-op experience, but as a Resident Evil game it was far from great, which is why I'm so surprised by the level of quality Resident Evil 6 holds. When the title was announced a few months ago, I quietly told myself that I could finally wash my hands clean of the series, as it seemed to finally take on the complete persona of every other action title on the market. God damn was I wrong. . . This seems to be a trend at this E3 for me.
The game is absolutely stunning. Everything about the game works; from the the controls, to the atmosphere, all the way up to the dialogue, I was completely engaged. The series looks to be finally heading back to it's roots, pushing players into claustrophobic places that create incredibly tense situations while in battle. Yes, there is still a heavy reliance on gun play, but with such tight controls I couldn't care less. RoboBrain and I both agreed that the Japanese developers dominated the
showfloor with a level of quality rarely shown with this generation of
games, but Resident Evil 6 was by far the prettiest of them all. I was constantly amazed by the level of detail shown on screen, and the fluidity of everything creates such an amazing experience that I highly doubt we'll see anything surpass this during the last few years of this current-gen.
Congrats Capcom, Resident Evil 6 needed this, and maybe a little more Ada Wong.

The Obscure Resident Evil Port You've Never Heard Of
With the announcement of Resident Evil 6, the release of Resident Evil: Revelations on Nintendo 3DS and the impending release of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City a large proportion of the gaming community has one game on their mind: The original Resident Evil port for Gameboy Color. I recall that a Game Boy Color version of Resident Evil was planned but canceled late in the process by Capcom, who claimed that the port was poor and would not meet customer expectations. It seems the company who forgot that spell-check is a thing that exists was once worried about quality control.
A few weeks ago someone over at Assembler Games came forward with a goal; raise a $2,000 goal he set and he would upload a copy of the abandoned game. The goal was met and now the masses can download and complete the game that was never intended for public play. But considering it was actually abandoned by Capcom would you really want to give this game a go? It surprises me the game was in such high demand considering how many superior ports of Resident Evil have been made over the years. If you're retro inclined though, this one is worth checking out due to the sheer ridiculousness of porting a 32 bit title onto the equivalent of a handheld NES.

Capcom Forgets Spellcheck
![]() |
| Someone's getting fired....(Via) |
In 2008, the Wii re-release of featured a IGN watermark on the box art picture and only some months ago the Xbox 360 version of Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition was incorrectly labelled with Xbox without the "360" part. Capcom should really start checking before going to print. It's unknown how many covers with the mistake spine have been sent out but I expect they'll be recalled/replaced soon enough with the eBay auctions soon following.

Resident Evil 6 Goes Back To Its Roots
I was never a fan of Resident Evil 5. Not only did the poor AI let down a good action game, I felt the action side of things really let down the evolution of the series. What was once a survival horror (and then action horror with the critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4) series became the opposite of what made the famous franchise otherwise great with cheap scares and no real atmosphere. I always bet that Resident Evil 6 would follow down the road that Resident Evil 5 had tread and I was right. But I couldn't have been more wrong when I said that they would forget the roots of the series.
It seems that you take control of 3-4 teams travelling around the world trying to stop the outbreak of some sort of virus. The trailer involves Zombies, Leon, Chris and an unnamed protagonist fighting to save the world. Resident Evil 6 is slated to be released November 20th, and is one of the only sequels (outside of Mass Effect 3) that I'm really looking forward to wait for. If the gameplay in this beautifully rendered trailer is anything to go by we know one thing for sure; s*** is going down and "It's Racoon City all over again".

Resident Evil: Revelations TGS Trailer
Resident Evil: Revelations is coming out for the 3DS, which means that unpractical hairstyles are a must. Judging from the trailer, they intend to make sure that you experience every meticulously modeled hair strand coming out at you.
With every announcement and trailer my interest for the title has been growing, and with a very Saw like set-up this looks like it might be a pretty cool new installment of the Resident Evil franchise. Hope it'll be better than RE:5.

Viral Campaign: Resident Evil
Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is proving to be the game people have asked for, considering it seems to be taking the multiplayer people wanted with Outbreak's style but with the mechanics of the games that have recently become so popular... The amazing Resident Evil 4 with the control for the not-so-great-but-still-a-pretty-ok-game Resident Evil 5 in a Marvel style "What-If?" during the events of Resident Evil 2/3. Still with me?
In his search to bring down the Umbrella Corporation, this guy is handing out clues to us to randomly give people who solve his puzzles prizes. I sure hope this means I'll get a shiny, flashy shirt. Or a free copy of the game.
Check out the site here. And if anyone asks, we are bringing down evil. It isn't about the free shirt, and never was about the free shirt.

Resident Evil 4 And Code: Veronica Get Hd Remasters!
I swear, I have at least 2 copies of Resident Evil 4 already (3 if you include the Iphone port). Lets not talk about how many versions of Code: Veronica I have, it's depressing. But the reason I'm excited for these two releases is simply this; they are two of the best games in the series, and Resident Evil 4 is in my top 5 games of all time.
Being able to play them clearer than ever is something that appeals to me, especially as my AV wire for my Dreamcast is dead, my PS2 died years ago and the Wii has become my parent's favourite plaything, I may be 21 and it may be my console but when they want to play Wii fit they'll be playing Wii fit. I should have never introduced them to the system.
So, after the jump, check out the first shots of the games and weep. Resident Evil 4 had some of the best graphics on the Gamecube, and still rivals most new releases today. Giving it a HD upgrade is like giving Nemesis infinite health and a licence to kill.
