Haven't Watched Madhouse's Redline Yet? It's Now Free

Well damn, this is pretty amazing news. Actually I'm kind of in disbelief that a company would do something this amazing, but give it up for Madhouse, as they've released the absolutely face meltingly good Redline feature anime on Youtube, for free. It's nearly too generous considering how good this movie is.

We've raved about Takeshi Koike's hyperkinetic movie countless times at this point, but if you can imagine a fine mixture of the stylishness of Cowboy Bebop, insane race sequences that would put Speed Racer to shame and insanity on par with Akira (Once you see that scene you'll know what I'm talking about), that is what Redline embodies. As one of my favorite anime features to be released in decades, I strongly recommend that you put aside two hours of your time and feast your eyes on this awesome movie, you will not regret it.

The Awesome Indie FREE Game Bundle

The Humble Indie Bundle is definitely awesome with it's "pay what you want" model for a package of some seriously amazing indie games. While you can download games for as little as $0 (P.S. don't do that, it makes you an ass hole and you'll probably feel bad about yourself), it's impossible to pass up an opportunity that is legitimately 100% free. The developers behind the awesome cyberpunk text-adventure game CYPHER are back, this time with The Free Indie Bundle giving gamers a chance to try out a batch of indie games they might have never touched.

Bundles like this really show indie dev's passion for games, as they provide their blood, sweat, and tears for gamers completely free of charge. I highly suggest you jump over here and give each game a chance, as their all amazingly fun titles. You don't have to feel bad about downloading these games for free either!

Also, I'd just like to share, Abobo's Big Adventure might be one of the best games of all time.

Free Comic Books Day! DC Releases New Info

Free; a word EVERYONE loves, especially us collectors! (Via)
Free Things? I hear you like them. As always Free Comic Book Day, a celebration and promotion of the comic book world, is happening in May and DC has revealed what they plan for that lovely wrapped present.

This 2012 DC comics will be offering preview material from the publisher's "Second Wave" of the 52. "The "Second Wave" of the New 52 was announced earlier this month, heralding both six new titles beginning in May and the cancellation of "Men of War," "Mister Terrific," "O.M.A.C.," "Hawk and Dove," "Blackhawks" and "Static Shock" at the end of April (with no real surprise from anyone).

This "Second Wave", and thusly the free comic book, will include "Batman Incorporated," "Dial H," "Earth 2," "G.I. Combat," "The Ravagers" and "Worlds' Finest". Personally I can't wait for Dial H, a comic that was once a back-up for others which involves a mysterious dial phone that enables an ordinary person to become a superhero for a short time by selecting the letters H-E-R-O in order. Batman Incorporated is a gamble, but after talking to RoboBrain....well, I'm sure he'll share his opinion of Grant Morrison sometime soon on a podcast.. DC have said they have a few more surprises on Batman's utility belt for the day so stay tuned for more information.

Look forward to Free Comic Book Day on the 5th of May. Check out the official site for locations and more information. Or, alternatively, just hound your local comic-book store. Looking forward to Free Comic-Book Day or the Second Wave of the DC "52" reboot? Let us know through the comments, twitter, or the forums!

The Knights Of The Mass Effect

Free items? I'm in. (Via)
EA hasn't been in the gaming community's best books lately. But despite the sh***y things they have done I thought this was a pretty cool idea and excellent marketing move. The gaming giant has announced a crossover between soon-to-be-released titles Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3. Playing the demo for Kingdoms of Amalur will unlock two Reckoning-inspired in-game items in Mass Effect 3, while playing the Mass Effect 3 demo will unlock armor and a weapon in Kingdoms of Amalur. Did I mention the suits were designed by Todd McFarlane?

Playing Mass Effect 3 will unlock N7 armor and omni-blades in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning whilst playing Amalur will lead to unlocking the Reckoner Knight Armor and a Chakram Launcher weapon in Mass Effect 3. Kingdoms of Amalur is 38 Studio's first release and it's certainly peaking interest in a game that I (and many others) would have otherwise not heard about. Lets see this type of promotion used more often?

The Kingdoms of Amalur demo will be released on January 17th, while the Mass Effect 3 demo is due later this month.

Joseph Nanner's 'New Star Broadcasting'

Lo-Fi Goodness
I'll forever be a fan of lo-fi music, it maintains an aura of relaxation like no other (plus it's the only thing that can put me to sleep nowadays). Producer, Joseph Nanner's New Star Broadcasting is next in line for constant playlist repeats. Mixing in familiar music and sounds from Anime and Video Games (and of course beats of his own), Nanner manages to create an album that's constantly changing things up while keeping it chill. You might hear hints of Black Moth Super Rainbow and Flying Lotus sprinkled throughout the album, but Nanner manages to maintain his own identity with some of the smoothest beats I've heard in a while. It's damn good.

I suggest you give the songs I left for you after a break a listen or two. Or you could jump straight in and download the entire album for free right over here.

Hoodie Allen: James Franco

Oh f*** yes, this guy has just achieved epic-awesome status in my book with this catchy rap track with a James Franco chorus line, and hilarious music video to boot. I predict that the amount of gifs this music video is going to spawn is going to be pretty legendary. Hoodie Allen is a 21 y/o NY based rapper, self admitted music nerd and songwriter on the side. I think he's evolved his sound quite a bit since his breakout hit from earlier this year, "You Are Not A Robot," and its pretty safe to predict he's going to explode even more with this track.

And you know what the best part is? He's giving away his newest album, Leap Year (featuring this track) for free, so we're doing our part to spread the word. Get it here!

Remember Remember: New Doctor Who Game For November

For Freedom, Anon and Alan Moore! (Via)
Missing Doctor Who on the television? Well, the BBC has you covered with the second series of the popular (and free) adventure games.

The TARDIS lands in London, 1605, encountering a group of men who are plotting to assassinate the Head of State. The Doctor, Amy and Rory realise they are at a pivotal point in time. But so are two alien races, each of which are more than happy to change history to suit their own ends…

Sounds exciting! The game is free on the PC/Mac, at least in the UK. No idea about you Yanks, but I believe the first series was available on Steam for little to nothing. Don't quote me on that, though. Get playing and let us know your thoughts in the comments!

DC Universe Online Free To Play From 1st November

When things are free to play, they are perfect to play! (Via)
The popular action MMO DC Universe Online will become free to play on the 1st of November. While you can still choose a subscription option, the bulk of the game won't cost a cent. The way Sony plans to charge players for the game will be via a premium account model. So for example, spending $5 in the game unlocks the "premium" account. The premium content , which includes additional slots and voice chat –will be yours forever. $15 a month will get you legendary status which provides all the normal content. Players with lower-level accounts will also have the ability to purchase additional inventory slots, etc. If you've been paying/paid in the past you get premium/legendary automatically.

The game is fun. I played it during beta and was entertained but never got around to playing it during it's release. I guess now is the perfect time to give it a go.

Sega Wants To Give You A Free....Something

Sega wants to give you a free game. Oh yes. But like in life they don't want to make it easy. All you have to do is guess what game they are hinting at. It's not that hard, is it? If you don't win, the game is coming to PS3 anyway so you have that to look forward too.

Email sweepstakes@sega.com with the subject as “Name That Game!” and submit your guess in the body of the email. The only rules? You must be 13 years of age, be a legal resident of the United States, and you can’t work for SEGA. Full Terms & Conditions can be found on the site.
Good luck!

Entire Portal 2 Soundtrack Available. For Free.

Portal 2: Game & Soundtrack of the year. (Via)
Valve, being the company who give and give recently announced free Portal 2 Multiplayer DLC for all three consoles. This includes both single and multiplayer maps. But something I've mentioned before is the soundtrack that has been released through small releases over the last few months. It's been released in full and you can download all 64 songs here. That's thinking with Portals.

But in true Valve style they like giving context for many things. So of course there might be a little extra for you readers out there....

Portal is free (Until September 20th)

Now you're thinking with science! (Via)
As part of Valve’s Learn With Portals initiative, which aims to promote Portal’s reality bending puzzles as an educational tool, Valve have released the Steam version of Portal for free. You have until the 20th of September, so it's not on for long! You also no longer have an excuse for not playing this game.

Viral Campaign: Resident Evil

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City is proving to be the game people have asked for, considering it seems to be taking the multiplayer people wanted with Outbreak's style but with the mechanics of the games that have recently become so popular... The amazing Resident Evil 4 with the control for the not-so-great-but-still-a-pretty-ok-game Resident Evil 5 in a Marvel style "What-If?" during the events of Resident Evil 2/3. Still with me?

In his search to bring down the Umbrella Corporation, this guy is handing out clues to us to randomly give people who solve his puzzles prizes. I sure hope this means I'll get a shiny, flashy shirt. Or a free copy of the game.

Check out the site here. And if anyone asks, we are bringing down evil. It isn't about the free shirt, and never was about the free shirt.

Team Fortress 2 Introduces You To The Medic, Then Invites You To Play For Free. . . FOREVER

If you play Team Fortress 2, you probably know about the Uber Update. If you don't, now is probably the best time to find out about Valve's big update, because after you do, you're invited to play for free. That's right, Valve is now offering the game to be downloaded and played for free by anyone with Steam. For all you complainers who purchased the game already, you're now premium members, allowing access to exclusive hats that free members can't get. So stop being a b*** and have fun (I paid for the game too).

Free games aside, this new entry to the Meet The [class name here] series is my favorite one yet. The animation is beautiful like always, and the Medic's pigeon, Archimedes, is damn adorable. Valve never ceases to amaze me with how much effort they continue to put into this game. Here's hoping this free-to-play model for Team Fortress 2 is an indication for even more updates.

P.S. Would anyone be interested in an Awesome-Robo TF2 server?

Spider-Man Cooks Up Some Trouble!

Well, the Fantastic Four did hire a new Chef....
C.B. Cebulski, Marvel's Senior Vice President of Creator & Content Development and lover of gourmet food commissioning a Comic called Spider-Man: A Meal To Die For, a free short story that combines his two loves by putting Spidey into an adventure in the middle of a gourmet cooking competition? That doesn't sound silly. Now Spider-Man teaming up with Eli Kirshtein, who many will recognize as a former contestant on Bravo's hugely popular Top Chef is silly. But who can you complain? It's another free comic, and it's available after the jump.
