Mass Effect 3: The Concept Art Of Benjamin Huen

(Via)
Despite how most of the AwesomeRobo team feels about the franchise, the Mass Effect series has some amazing art and ideas behind it. Just recently, concept artist and illustrator Benjamin Huen released some concept artwork he created for Bioware’s Mass Effect 3. Despite there being so much talk about the controversial ending which angered many, we've never really talked about how vast the universe is, and how beautiful some of the art looks. Benjamin's art ranges from character designs to locations, and as always I find it interesting to see how certain things evolve during the long and arduous game creation process. So I thought my returning to the blog would be fitting: Check out a ton more beautiful concept art after the break!

Harry Partridge Sends Mass Effect Back To The 80's

Harry Partridge decided to be sane today and simply drop a new video on April Fools, showcasing the 'upcoming' 80's flavored cartoon about the Mass Effect crew. Commander Shepard and the gang have to make a difficult decision between saving earth from the Reapers, or making it to the battle of the bands. Which priority will reign supreme? The power of bionic rock will determine the outcome.

Mega64 Talk Mass Effect 3

We talked about the Mass Effect 3 ending on our amazing podcast this week, but I don't think ANYONE has captured our opinions like Mega64. The Mega64 guys, on the ball as they are, give us a look at the 'next best Mass Effect 3 ending ever' and the gift Bioware has promised discontented fans. Unlike the ending, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Low-poly Mass Effect Minis Are So Darn Cute

Mass Effect: Genocide CAN be cute! (Via)
With the up and coming Mass Effect 3 and the two iOS tie-in games that will be released alongside the title, I've been in a full out Mass Effect mood. I recently started a second playthrough of the series to get me refreshed on all the happenings, and keep me distracted from posting. The wait has been driving me crazy, but with the help of some awesome fanart my wits are still about me, especially when the fate of the universe rests in such cute hands.

Artist 'Nix' created an entire set of  low poly Mass Effect Minis that would have been perfect in an alternate universe in which the series was actually a JRPG. Bioware, hire this person and make a Mass Effects style Tactical RPG for 3DS, stat! Check out the cast individually after the break! This man better get a damn job soon.

The Knights Of The Mass Effect

Free items? I'm in. (Via)
EA hasn't been in the gaming community's best books lately. But despite the sh***y things they have done I thought this was a pretty cool idea and excellent marketing move. The gaming giant has announced a crossover between soon-to-be-released titles Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3. Playing the demo for Kingdoms of Amalur will unlock two Reckoning-inspired in-game items in Mass Effect 3, while playing the Mass Effect 3 demo will unlock armor and a weapon in Kingdoms of Amalur. Did I mention the suits were designed by Todd McFarlane?

Playing Mass Effect 3 will unlock N7 armor and omni-blades in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning whilst playing Amalur will lead to unlocking the Reckoner Knight Armor and a Chakram Launcher weapon in Mass Effect 3. Kingdoms of Amalur is 38 Studio's first release and it's certainly peaking interest in a game that I (and many others) would have otherwise not heard about. Lets see this type of promotion used more often?

The Kingdoms of Amalur demo will be released on January 17th, while the Mass Effect 3 demo is due later this month.

Be Commander Shepard, Fight the Cold.

The Reapers may be on the way to destroy all life in our galaxy, but that is no excuse to look bad, or catch a cold.

The hoody, available here, is a hefty $88, though it does look pretty cool. Though there is a warning attached.
Please exercise caution when wearing the hood all the way zipped up, because you will look fully awesome, and members of the general public may be caught a bit off-guard.
Indeed.

Mass Effect: Arrival Arrives!

Mass Effect 2 has officially dated and detailed it's final DLC at last. Mass Effect: Arrival will have Commander Shepard and his crew sent to rescue an undercover operative who may have information about an imminent Reaper invasion. Also making a return is Admiral Hackett, who will be playing a key role in the mission's story.

In a statement from Bioware's Casey Hudson, the executive producer of the Mass Effect series:
"All year, we have been extremely honored and humbled by the reception we have received for Mass Effect 2 from players around the world, including our post release DLC. Mass Effect: Arrival is an exciting extension to Mass Effect 2 and will show players just how close the Reapers are to returning and completing their deadly harvest."
Mass Effect: Arrival will launch on March 29, 2011 for 560 Microsoft Points, $6.99 on PlayStation Network, and on PC for 560 BioWare Points.

Mass Effect 2's DLC The Arrival: First Official Details UPDATED

A month back I posted details about the new Mass Effect 2 DLC from Bioware. Today marks the first official confirmation of The Arrival.

The studio posted the image on its Facebook page, telling fans: "New Mass Effect 2 screenshots have Arrived. I'll release a new one tomorrow if you share this one and help us get 750,000 impressions!"

Notice the capital 'A' on Arrived.

More as it arrives.

UPDATE: The facebook page reached it's goal, and updated with another screenshot. See it after the jump!
