The Obscure Resident Evil Port You've Never Heard Of
With the announcement of Resident Evil 6, the release of Resident Evil: Revelations on Nintendo 3DS and the impending release of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City a large proportion of the gaming community has one game on their mind: The original Resident Evil port for Gameboy Color. I recall that a Game Boy Color version of Resident Evil was planned but canceled late in the process by Capcom, who claimed that the port was poor and would not meet customer expectations. It seems the company who forgot that spell-check is a thing that exists was once worried about quality control.
A few weeks ago someone over at Assembler Games came forward with a goal; raise a $2,000 goal he set and he would upload a copy of the abandoned game. The goal was met and now the masses can download and complete the game that was never intended for public play. But considering it was actually abandoned by Capcom would you really want to give this game a go? It surprises me the game was in such high demand considering how many superior ports of Resident Evil have been made over the years. If you're retro inclined though, this one is worth checking out due to the sheer ridiculousness of porting a 32 bit title onto the equivalent of a handheld NES.
