Lets face it, compared to Resident Evil 4, RE:5 was trash. Yeah, yeah, it was a fun a co-op experience, but as a Resident Evil game it was far from great, which is why I'm so surprised by the level of quality Resident Evil 6 holds. When the title was announced a few months ago, I quietly told myself that I could finally wash my hands clean of the series, as it seemed to finally take on the complete persona of every other action title on the market. God damn was I wrong. . . This seems to be a trend at this E3 for me.
The game is absolutely stunning. Everything about the game works; from the the controls, to the atmosphere, all the way up to the dialogue, I was completely engaged. The series looks to be finally heading back to it's roots, pushing players into claustrophobic places that create incredibly tense situations while in battle. Yes, there is still a heavy reliance on gun play, but with such tight controls I couldn't care less. RoboBrain and I both agreed that the Japanese developers dominated the
showfloor with a level of quality rarely shown with this generation of
games, but Resident Evil 6 was by far the prettiest of them all. I was constantly amazed by the level of detail shown on screen, and the fluidity of everything creates such an amazing experience that I highly doubt we'll see anything surpass this during the last few years of this current-gen.
Congrats Capcom, Resident Evil 6 needed this, and maybe a little more Ada Wong.
