It was kind of cool to be reminded of this truly classic piece of Anime, which probably went on to inspire countless artists, movies(The Matrix comes to mind), and probably even Deus Ex: Human Revolution in one way or the other. This movie at its time was probably the anime equivalent of the cyberpunk masterpiece that preceded it, Bladerunner.
This video focuses on the differences between the classic intro from the first GITS and the enhanced 2.0 release which came out a few years ago (And by enhanced, it just looks better..No pointless extra scenes). To think that all of this was hand drawn at the time is pretty damn insane..They don't make feature length animated movies like they used to.
