A Little Film About... Thomas Burden is an inventive and inspiring look into the method and little madness of the film's titular 3D illustrator. In three minutes, Burden takes us through a day in his creative life, exploring the humble origins of his subject matter and style ( 60-70's National Geographic meets Argyll Story Catalog), the temperament of his quiet village home of Chichester, his home-life, and the intentions and motivations behind his work.

His pieces capture a vibe of child-like abandon and Clokey-like aestheticism. Burden is a meticulous illustrator and an adventurous tinkerer, smashing shapes together to create oddball creatures and miniature worlds of wonder. 'The Grey Matter' is Dark, Gruesome and Brilliantly Hilarious

Dark comedies focused around the assumed banality and bureaucracy of the after-life aren't anything new (i.e. Beetlejuice and Wristcutters: A Love Story), but The Grey Matter is one of the most gruesomely brilliant twists on the trope thanks to snappy dialogue and sharp transition-editing for comedic effect. After a mysterious injury, an office "stiff" named Simon finds himself stumbling through an absurd, increasingly unorthodox, and potentially fatal series of events.

The Mccoubrey Brothers' short feels like a Twilight Zone episode by way of David Lynch. Ebon Moss-Bachrach is fantastic in his role as meek and unassuming Simon (and that stetson fedora he's rocking definitely feels like a callback to Peter Weller's role in Naked Lunch). And that ending? Forget about it. Go watch this short immediately. Right. Now.

'The Animated Adventures Of Buffy' Is The Spin-Off That Fans Deserve

I was never much intrigued by the apocalyptic misadventures of Buffy the Vampire Slayer back when it was on the air. Recently though, after having finally bitten the bullet and binge-watched what some might delicately describe as a "terrifying" amount of the show, I found myself now starved for more of Whedon's magnum opus.

That's where animator Stephen Byrne comes in with this fantastic fan-made opening that doubles as not only an achingly beautiful reminder of the spin-off that never was, but also a loving tribute to Ms. Summers and her lovable misfit band of Scoobies. Not to mention that terrific theme song cover, courtesy of Jeff Ball. Has someone told Joss Whedon about this yet?!

Alex Konstad's March of Robots

Robots. You like 'em, We love 'em. So it should go without saying that we love Alex Konstad's collection of bot-themed companions from this past month. March of Robots is a month-long online event devoted to brainstorming hilarious, impressive, and imaginative new automatons.

Konstad's series is centered on consumer-based machines; Sentient food vendors, corporate-sponsored window washers, floating car-repair bots, and bipedal gas stations. We've featured some of his work before and this new batch certainly continues to impress. Check out the rest of his March collection after the break!

Flappy Bird By Kud

This is probably the only Flappy Bird related piece of content you'll ever see on our website. Created by Kud and voiced by the folks over at Mega64, it's probably the funnest thing to come out of the media circus that this game has attracted over the last few weeks. Curious about our opinion regarding Flappy Bird? This entire debacle was complete bulls**t. Instead of focusing on social gaming's terrible trend of ripping off and copy pasting the same version of games over and over again, mainstream gaming websites decided to turn the spotlight/internet hate machine on a guy who actually made a fun game on his free time. Does having a Mario themed warp tube in your game warrant death threats and people wanting to ruin you?

Let's not forget that other games have made very obvious references to Mario games. Let's not forget Jonathan Blow's Braid (In general), Muigin and Larion from World of Warcraft, Super Guacamelee's princess quote and this entire list of over 130 games that make direct references to the series. Was it worth dozens of articles damning an indie dev who made a little cellphone app on his free time with elements that paid tribute to his favorite games growing up? I think not, and this is why I personally stopped reading a bunch of gaming sites in the last few weeks as this got blown way out of proportion. In the meanwhile, dozens of unscrupulous fly by night devs are capitalizing on it's unwarranted notoriety to create dozens of clones. Thank you, sh**ty game journalists for pushing yet another developer into darkness.

The Expedition

Louie Zong's latest one-minute animation is a whimsical take on mankind's quest to answer the most important, age-old questions of space. Only y'know, told from the perspective of a mouse.

The short, however short, is beautifully colored and impressively scored. Zong is definitely an animator to watch out for. Check out more of his work at his tumblr and DevArt page.

Rodrigo Ico's Amazing Adventure on Titan Fan Art!

Attack on Titan and Adventure Time are two critically acclaimed shows that are both equally amazing in their own right. One is a hilariously over the top, hyper-serious anime with a ton of gore that follows the cardinal rule of 'no-one is safe from death,' and the other is a post-apocalyptic coming-of-age story posing as a children's show. It was only a matter of time before someone mashed them together, peanut-butter jelly style. 

Rodrigo Ico manages to combine what makes both of these shows so great into a piece that's both hilarious and vaguely terrifying. Nice job mate. Check out some of Rodrigo's other pieces after the break.

"Mandela Is Dead" - Dead Parrot Brings Cringeworthy Youtube ConversationsTo Life

Prepare to face palm, and prepare to do so rather hard. The folks at the relatively new comedy group Dead Parrot have taken to reenacting some of the most cringe inducing Youtube conversations on various topics, but this one regarding the passsing of Nelson Mandela just takes the cake.

Using some really good, theatrically trained actors taking the roles of two Youtube users, we witness a seriously clueless man slowly coming to the realization that Nelson Mandela isn't actually Morgan Freeman. Props to Dead Parrot for taking the time to dig through the morass of Youtube comments to find comedy gold like this.

Carpark

Created by Bird Box studios, Carpark narrates the tale of a simple shopping trip going terribly wrong after a shopper decides to toy around with a dog locked in a car. The entire short unfolds in one scene, employing a simple, yet effective monochromatic style. Bird Box always nails it one the head with their shorts, using everyday situations as the basis of their bite sized shorts.

Hotdog

Jason Reicher was determined to spend his weekend animating a short about hotdogs, ducks and bastard pigeons, and that is exactly what he did in Hotdog. This short might qualify as both a highly surreal piece or profound commentary on social inequality. It's hard not to relate with the duck nonetheless.

Mega64 Brings Back All The Nick Arcade Nostalgia For A New Generation

Interesting times are upon us folks, 90s television is no longer a memory of the recent past and the television we once watched has vanished from the minds of millions. We now have an entire generation that will never know the joys of Saved by the Bell, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, and most importantly Nick Arcade. Thankfully, Mega64 is looking to change that with Nick Arcade 2013, rebooted for an entirely new generation. It might not be the show you quite remember, but it's close enough, right?

While funny, this skit holds a lot of sad truths about the current focus of the video game industry. Where it once stood as an outlet for fun and goofiness that could be broadcasted on national television, it's slowly evolved into an over-budgeted kill fest. Of course there are still plenty of gaming gems being developed, the popular is no longer about just fun, it's about hollywood-esque entertainment. Now, excuse me while I go hole up in my room and rock myself to sleep with a pouch of Capri Sun under my Eddie Vedder poster.

Larry David's Thanksgiving Special

It's Thanksgiving! I love the idea of families gathering, giving thanks for the things they have before belittling each other over turkey and pumpkin pie. That's why I chose to feature this short. Written by (& staring) Larry David (The man behind HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm), the short has Larry reminiscing about his Thanksgiving in Brooklyn and proves that you can choose friends but families are something you must stick with no matter the situation. Eat your heart out Charlie Brown! I wish you all a happy thanksgiving and try and survive Black Friday.

Terry Crews' ongoing collaboration with Old Spice has yet to be topped in terms of marketing brilliance (Spawning an entire clone army of wannabes) and this most recent video/interactive promo just took it to a whole new level of weird awesomeness . If you thought the concepts behind previous commercials were nuts, this electro stimulated musical muscle session might cause your head to explode. And after you watch the video, you are kindly invited to punch your keyboard  to make a Terry Crews muscle jam session. Creativity at the service of consumption.

Blow Out Sale

Blowout Sale is a short film by the filmmaking team of Danny Pudi (Abed Nadir on Community), Timothy Kendall & Chris Marrs. The idea behind competitive salesmen rivalry is something I'm sure a lot of people who have worked in a commissioned based environment have experienced and can relate to. But throwing in violence and invisible warfare? That made this video an instant classic when it came out. I love this video and if you are a fan of Community I'm sure you'll appreciate the humour of this video. The video reminded me of Police Squad, the 1982 Leslie Nielsen show that spawned the Naked Gun movies. That reference dated myself, so I'll think I go back to reference Community; Pop, pop!

Apple's Siri Is Just That Much More Science

Apple recently announced the Siri feature for the new iPhone 4s, which is basically a pretty cool digital voice application. Whilst I imagine it turning out more like this my expansive television and movie watching has taught me one thing; robots are mean, mean creations. So throw in the most mean and evil robot of all time, GLaDOS from Portal 1/2, and you have a parody video that made me chuckle but feel bad for gaining a beer gut. Self esteem? Gone. But my iPhone? Never looked better!

This parody shows the truth behind the Spy, and his amazing powers. It's a parody of the now world famous Old Spice advert, and it makes me laugh every time.
