"Phone Home" - An Awkward Interplanetary Exchange

The Brothers McLeod animated this silly little short about the first phone call from Mars by an astronaut called Jeff. To his chagrin though, his wife displays the type of enthusiasm typically reserved for occasions like watching paint dry, followed by a twist that could only be delivered with millions of miles of distance between two people. Enjoy the most dysfunctional display of interplanetary communication ever animated.

"Mandela Is Dead" - Dead Parrot Brings Cringeworthy Youtube ConversationsTo Life

Prepare to face palm, and prepare to do so rather hard. The folks at the relatively new comedy group Dead Parrot have taken to reenacting some of the most cringe inducing Youtube conversations on various topics, but this one regarding the passsing of Nelson Mandela just takes the cake.

Using some really good, theatrically trained actors taking the roles of two Youtube users, we witness a seriously clueless man slowly coming to the realization that Nelson Mandela isn't actually Morgan Freeman. Props to Dead Parrot for taking the time to dig through the morass of Youtube comments to find comedy gold like this.

Playdate

The cringe is strong with this one. This short tells us the story of a couple who head to a dinner at the home of a "cool" couple they met through their kids' school. Much to their surprise, the dinner also includes another even "cooler" couple.

It's just one of those bad social situations that most people would probably just want to run from ("Ohhh, I think I have a stomach bug, better go!").  While a bit over-the-top at times, for dramatic effect, overall this short captures that awkward feeling that comes from people who just don't click forced into a social situation. Plus, there's the good ol' awkwardness standby, obvious envy.

Hatsune Miku Teams With Domino's For Something Incredibly Awkward

I can't . . . I really can't handle this. I don't think I've ever stumbled upon something nearly as awkward as this. If you're not familiar with Hatsune Miku, don't worry because this video explains it all. All you need to know is that pizza and Japanese vocaloids make sense, especially when you're trying to market towards a Japanese audience. Really, I had difficulties getting past two minutes, but it gets so much worse.

Awkwardness aside, the alternate reality feature towards the end of the video is a really neat marketing gimmick that I wouldn't mind purchasing a pizza for. And as a bonus, the parodies are already here.

Let's Talk About Something More Interesting Feat. Matt Damon

The charmingly awkward ladies from Youtube channel LivePrudeGirls just recently had a star studded breakthrough, getting a chance to interview Matt Damon. In a futile attempt to promote his Water.org charity, Matt gets caught in an attention seeking crossfire between the two starstruck interviewers. Let's just say that things spiral out of control quickly.

Hunkin' By Nathan Barnatt Is Beautifully Awkward

Nathan Barnatt, best known for playing Keith Apicary in 'Talking Classics,' getting kicked out of a few conventions and busting some serious dance moves in Madeon's Pop Culture isn't afraid to show off just how uh..Hunking he is. Sporting some fine leopard print pants, a seriously epic Tiger shirt (Ladies) and one of the best do's to grace a man's scalp, this video is a barrage of awkward hilarity that will collide with the pleasure and discomfort cortexes of your brain simultaneously. If you can't handle the hotness, this video might make your head explode

And if that wasn't enough awkwardness for you, one of the members of the 'Hunkin' crew uploaded a full video of some of his attempts at interaction in the wild, clad in some seriously smoking 70's creeper apparel. Gotta love the beige!

Check It Out With Dr. Steve Brule: Animals

As played out as the entire Tim and Eric premise is, I've always been a fan of their Steve Brule segment, featuring John C. Reilly's hopelessly clueless journalistic alter ego. Taking that premise and mixing it with subcultures like furries? Well now that's evolving the concept. Enjoy the horrific awkwardness!

Joe Goes Gold & Other Awkwardness

Joe is an excellent, albino masterclass troll disguised as an interviewer who loves to attend random conventions and catch people completely off guard with ridiculous questions. Since we last featured him he's attended over a dozen more conventions that we had no idea even existed, and even introduced Europe to his self deprecating, insanely awkward interview style. There's a reason he goes by the monicker of 'Badge Of Shame.' Check out two more awkward bombs from Joe after the break!

The Worst Of E3

Now that we've had a week or two to let E3 settle, I have to say..My god, the press conferences were among the worst I've seen in the last few years. It just felt that companies kept hiring these spit shined actors that they thought would 'click' with gamers to present the games they were offering. Microsoft's horrific Xbox Kinect presentations were cringe inducing, with terrifyingly fake child actors and groan inducing father/son combos to present a new generation of Kinect games that about 99.8% of games could give two sh**s about.

And worst of all, there was Mr. Caffeine. Holy sh**. Ubisoft hired a guy straight out of 1996, a mid thirties guy who couldn't be farther out of touch in his mindset to presenting these games and his fail train of attempts at video game humor and relating with the audience. Press people were literally writhing in their seats as the artificially over excited Mr. Caffeine delivered his now infamous 'DIDDLY DIDDLY DIDDLY DOOOOO' before games would appear on screen. In his last presentation, he even tried to engage the audience to do his retarded diddly doo routine with him, at which point the longest silence in crowd history probably occurred. During his presentation, I recall sitting in my chair in full double facepalm mode. If Ubisoft hasn't fired this guy already, the game industry might as well be over.
