The Rabbit Hole Of CamDrome Goes Deeper

It was nice knowing you all, it looks as if CamDrome has set their sights on us and has provided us with another clue. Yesterday we posted about the mysterious CamDrome booth set up at the PAX Indie Megabooth and it looks like the ARG has gained a bit of traction since then. It seems that the popularity of the ARG has caught the attention of whomever is running it and has sent us a few more clues, including the above video. This entire ARG's theme really brings back interesting memories of David Cronenberg's classic 1983 psychological horror, Videodrome.

I honestly don't know quite where to go with the information provided in the e-mail CamDrome has shot our way, but with a little crowdsourcing I know when we can get to the bottom of this. After the break is the contents of the e-mail and an image that was provided alongside it. Take a look for yourself and help piece piece this all together.

WTF Is CamDrome? A PAX 2013 Mystery

[Update: It would appear whomever is behind this has provided us with more clues to the puzzle over here]

PAX 2013 may be over, but a deep mystery is lingering and those who've chosen to uncover it are in for an incredibly creepy ride. Throughout the weekend at PAX, a bloody monitor sat by it's lonesome in the corner of the Indie Megabooth as it looped DOS commands and played an assortment of video clips that seemed to increase throughout the weekend.

Each video clip holds the similar theme of murder and suicide, featuring an over-eccentric 'webcam personality' talking before appearing to kill themselves or being murdered. Of course the clips aren't real (or so we hope), but the spook factor of these clips unraveling throughout the weekend is something ripped from a horror movie.

The exhibitors who were lucky enough to be stationed by the CamDrome PC state to have never seen anyone setup the station nor update it, yet somehow throughout the weekend more video clips began to appear on the computer's screen. Even more horrifying is the computer's sudden disappearance at the end of the Expo after the Megabooth exhibitors turned their backs for a group photo.

Along with the CamDrome booth, a website linking to a Twitter that has been active since at least July 18th has also appeared on the internet. The website's source code furthers the creep factor with lines of code stating 'you're doing this to yourself' and 'feel the knife pull the wire around your neck now i'm watching you.' The topping for this chilling mystery remains in the Twitter's second tweet, a link to an article about a man's livestream suicide.  The Twitter remains active, watching both the tweets and the websites that comment about it while leaving cryptic messages in their 'honor.'

Whether this is just a brilliant ARG or viral marketing for something bigger, it has captured my complete attention yet keeps me rather wary for my own life. CamDrome's tag line of  'watching you' has already forced me to turn my webcam the other way, because f*ck that.

New Team Fortress 2 ARG?

(Via)
Valve, you tease us so. Team Fortress 2 has just updated with the following items:
Goldfish, PocketLint, Cheese Wheel, Banana Peel, Barn Door Plank, Secret Diary & Damaged Capacitor, all of which can be viewed after the break. Each item features a cryptic, mysterious description hinting at some major reveal found through the standard "Item Drop" system in-game.

Speculation from the Facepunch forums suggests that the burnt diaries will reveal the video "Meet The Pyro" when enough are collected. The capacitors have 6.22 written on them, suggesting an update for this friday, which also hints at electronics, and the rumoured "Mann Vs.Machine" mode that's been highly hyped over the last few months whilst some are suggesting it's an ARG for Steam's annual Summer Sale. I guess we'll see soon enough but I wouldn't put it past Valve to just tease us like a kid with a magnifying glass. We are the ants, but if these hint towards a MAJOR update to the game update and don't lead to anything really soon I'll eat my oversized Mann Co. hat. And I'll just call it now, the Pyro is a damn female. We''ll find out soon enough.

Found On The Tape: New ARG

Have you heard about Found On The Tape? I bet you haven't. This quiet viral campaign has caught my attention, but not many others. It hasn't been picked up by many sites, has very few views but is creepy as f***. I stumbled upon it by accident and still haven't figured out what is being advertised or what the campaign is for. Given that Paranormal Activity 3's viral campaign has been revolving around a VHS transfer company I expect that a connection could be made.

Check out the other 2 videos after the jump and make up your mind. Just don't watch it in the dark.

Mission Icefly: Phase 3

Less than half a day remains for the second Mission Icefly countdown over on SurvivalCode.com, what does it mean? Halo 4? Dark Knight Rises? 5Gum? Perhaps we'll know later today. Check back here for future updates! If you're interested in getting caught up in this ARG check out Mission Icefly: Phase 2 and then head over to our forums.

All I can say is, good god, do not lead this into another countdown.

Mission Icefly: Phase 2

Today has been one hell of a day. Around 12PM, the countdown on testsubjectsneeded.com reached it's end, at which point the ARG-driven scavenger hunt began, forcing players to make horrible life-threatening driving decisions. Shortly after the countdown ended, New York and Atalanta were given coordinates to the mysterious dead drop, which players found within the hour. From then on, every hour on the hour, new coordinates were given for the 13 other cities listed, two of which we at Awesome Robo reside in. So what the hell happened and what is it all leading up to? Hit the jump to find out!

Mission Icefly Countdown Nears It's End; Asks For Help In 15 Cities

It has begun.
Last week, we showed off the unkown viral marketing campaign for Test Subjects Needed, an ARG that's been predicted to be a campaign for The Dark Knight Rises, Halo 4, 5gum, or something completely unrelated to all three. Now we're nearing the end of the websites countdown with a call out to all of the game's "test subjects". Starting tomorrow, if you reside near any of the 15 cities listed bellow, you may have the possibility to delve deeper into this mysterious ARG.

Cities listed with a chance to "intersect with destiny":

Atlanta
Boston
Chicago
Dallas
Denver
Las Vegas
Los Angeles
Nashville
New York
Orlando
Pheonix
Portland
San Francisco
Seattle
Washington DC

Make sure you have an acount and a phone with text messaging capabilities by tomorrow and you may be selected as 1 of 15 test subjects chosen for each city. Anyone else have more theories on what this could possibly lead up to? If we are selected, we will be investigating the ARG in our respective cities.. (San Fran and Seattle) Stay tuned.

Test Subjects Needed Begins! UPDATED

It started as a possible Dark Knight Rises campaign? Now? We have no idea. We just know that we are needed. TestSubjectsNeeded.com... This site has confused a large amount of people, but we've had a chance to be recipients of the envelopes and packages for the campaign for whatever reason. We don't know much, but we do know that the site was first noticed at E3 through black envelopes, and secretly put into ads in both issues of DC Comic's two biggest sellers right now: Flashpoint and Batman: Arkham City.

Adverts and QR codes have appeared on a number of different sites, but we seem to be ahead of the game. Currently, the QR Code leads to Mission Icefly, a site with a countdown as of writing, at 9 days, 21 hours, 34 minutes and 14 seconds. The Awesome-Robo team will have more information as it comes, but we are as confused, and speculative as you.

Join today, or keep track on this thread on the forums. Because we have as little clue as to what is happening as you probably do.

What do I think it is? Bungie had a viral involving bees and flying insects, a certain recurring theme in this campaign.

UPDATE: After tracking it back to the source, we realized that this campaign is by the same guys that brought you Why So Serious and I Love Bees (The infamous Halo 2 viral campaign), 42 entertainment. The plot thickens.

S.I.T.E.

S.I.T.E

This video was put together in the same way that a viral ARG might be presented, showing the discovery of something odd at a location that quickly spirals out of control. It does a great job of presenting the bare minimum, and leaving the mind to wonder what the hell is going on. I'm just guessing that its a test in doing viral style work, but it could actually be some sort of teaser for something else. Who knows?
