Clark's 'Riff Through The Fog' Shows Mastery Of The Oscilloscope

Clark is near impossible to place into one genre, his constant drive to change things up keeps his releases fresh and unexpected. Clark's newest batch of releases have been nothing short of amazing and the accompanying music videos have made some awesome use of an oscilloscope. With no video editing and one shot, Riff Through The Fog is a visual treat, providing some awesome visualization to Clark's soothing electronic beats.

For those unfamiliar with how an oscilloscope works, music video creator Adoxo does a fantastic job explaining it's use and the process for the music video over here. The use of rolling shutter and the pulsating visuals adds a really unique experience to Clark's music and gets me pretty damn excited to see how he incorporates the oscilloscope in future shows. For the first music video off the Superscopre single take a look after the break, the beat is a bit darker but equally as awesome.

A Visual Trip With NETWORKS' "Ake-Vono"

Sometimes a music video is the tipping point of my love for a song, it takes an already enjoyable listening experience and turns it up a notch. Ake-Vono by NETWORKS is already a fantastic song on it's own, providing a chill mood while still giving a sense of upbeat motivation. Mixing in the spectacular visual representations of artist Kohei Yoshino, Ake-Vono is an excellent break from reality and is certain to give you that tingly feeling your brain gets after spacing out with a music visualization effect.

Ake-Vono is the first single off of NETWORKS' upcoming album, which judging from this track is sounding to be quite a fun listening experience. You can download Ake-Vono for free from Soundcloud over here.

Toro y Moi - So Many Details

I've been bumping this Toro y Moi single for the past week and I've yet to grow tired of it. The South Carolinian chillwave artist has been my go to for lazy days and late night binges, and I can honestly say this might be one of my favorite songs released by him. With a groovy synth and soft vocals of Chazwick Bundick, this song is perfect for anytime of day.

Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm - a2

Sleepy time music is the best kind of music. Upbeat music is great and all, but there's something special about songs such as a2 by Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm that ends a day on a high note. Accompanied by an incredibly soothing music video, a2 is the perfect track for a chill day at home or even in the office.

Illya Kuryaki and The Valderramas - Ula Ula

As it closes in on winter, I usually find myself sticking to quieter music (don't ask why, it just makes sense). Luckily, songs like this come around and f*ck up my listening habits and completely cheer up my day/night. Ula Ula is all around an extremely fun song, but the music video definitely adds quite a bit to the experience. While I've already had to give this a few more views to find a word to describe it, all I could come up with was groovy.

Alt-J (∆) - Breezeblocks

I admit, I always forget to watch music videos for bands I enjoy, it's just not something that I think about. Generally, during late nights, I head to YouTube and look up whatever it is I'm listening to. While this music video is a few months old, it's something that I feel must be shared.

Alt-J (∆) is probably my favorite band to release a full length album this year and this music video solidifies that opinion. Shorts done in reverse are no new trend, but the story that unfolds throughout Breezeblocks is outstanding, leading viewers into false expectations and understanding. I was definitely on the edge of my seat throughout the music video. If you dig this song I highly recommend you pick up Alt-J (∆)'s newest album An Awesome Wave, it's filled to the brim with amazing music.

Little People - Aldgate Patterns

There's no denying that there are a lot of great music videos out there, but some are getting to the point of ridiculousness with their use of VFX. Little People's Aldgate Patterns official video is god damn brilliant in that it brings in just the right amount of visually appealing VFX without over-encumbering you. The chill electronic beat flows perfectly alongside the subtle animations that begin to amplify into something downright beautiful near the end. I've already watched this video a few times tonight and I can't say I'm getting tired of it.

Beirut - The Rip Tide

Pulling influences Salvador Dali, Georges Seurat and JMW Turner, this music video for Beirut's The Rip Tide is absolutely beautiful. By itself the video is spectacular, but the soothing yet upbeat tunes of Beirut really add a whole new level. I literally gasped around the 3:00 mark, which I can assure you is something that rarely happens with music videos. With the amount of color I was often times questioning whether I was watching an animated short or not.

Chappo: Hell No and Skrillex+Wolfgang Gartner: The Devil's Den (NSFW FRIDAY)

Seems like this Friday is destined to be the most NSFW filled music video roundup in recent memory. From Chappo's ridiculously catchy new psychedelic pop track, with its uncomfortable abundance of bearded, talking mammaries to Arev Manoukian's frenzied directorial interpretation of the Skrillex/Gartner collab, it would probably be best to watch these hilariously NSFW music videos from the comfort of your home rather than the workplace. The folks from Ghost+Cow films even sent us the Vimeo version of Chappo's track, which would have been unpostable due to its 'unique' thumbnail. Nonetheless, both music videos are absolutely fantastic.

Stendeck: Catch The Midnight Girl And 99 Injections: Oil

The advent of summer typically signifies a bounty of quality music videos, so rather than spreading these out we're going to start aggregating them into individual posts. Today was an IDM flavored day, bringing us a range of experimental electro to check out, with equally excellent music videos. The music video for Stendeck's Catch The Midnight Girl is from his 2011 release called 'Scintilla' (Spark in Italian) directed by Andrea Todaro. The awesome, somewhat interpretative music video deals heavily with themes of weightlessness and discovery set to this ambient, melodic track.



On the polar opposite end of the electro spectrum, 99Injections' Oil is an intense track that channels the Russian artists need to create a destructive, negative sound. If you're asking yourself what that might entail, the groups approach is to counter any type of annoying stereotypes associated with electro being the type of music only ravers listen to. 99 Injections is a relatively unknown outside of Russia at this point, but I'm really digging the creative direction they've chosen to pursue. I'd highly recommend checking out more of their stuff on Soundcloud.
