Metal Gear Online is 'The Phantom Pain's' Multiplayer Co-op Mode

A little late on this one, but I couldn't help but put in my two cents on the world premiere trailer for Metal Gear Solid V's online component. First introduced in the 2005 re-release of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, Metal Gear Online takes the tried-and-tested subterfuge skills of Metal Gear fans and pits them alongside and against one another in a massively multi-player combat arena.

Further expanded upon in Metal Gear Solid 4, MGSV's iteration will incorporate awesome new additions such as tactical sideswipe dodge, toy puppy distractions, thermoptic camouflage, ghillie suits, fulton balloon cannons, flanking teleportation disposables, and pilotable bi-pedal Metal Gears that can karate kick opponents. Phew, this is whole other game in and of itself!

Besties.
The Phantom Pain was already one of my most higly-anticipated titles of 2015, but this new trailer just makes the wait that much more excruciating. There's rumors that series creator Hideo Kojima may have "stealth-announced" the game's release date at this year's Game Awards as early as June 22nd of next year. However, given Kojima long-known propensity for fan-baiting promotional antics, this itself could be another total diversion. In any case, I'm excited to finally witness Big Boss' fall from grace first-hand in 2015!

Metal Gear Solid V - Ground Zeroes Launch Trailer

Ground Zeroes, the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V comes out today and I personally couldn't be more excited to delve into our first taste of the next game. Even though dectractors continue to remain fixated on the fact that the game is apparently 10 minutes long (It keeps getting shorter with every flamebait article that pops online regarding it's length), I think people miss the point of what this game is truly supposed to be, a taste of what's to come in Phantom Pain.

From what we saw Zeroes offers one story mission and a very large playable sandbox area, with an intent on being replayed multiple times. The story ties into the events of Peace Walker, following Big Boss and Miller in an attempt to extract Chico and Paz from a highly guarded facility. Other than that it seems like the game doesn't seem to be about the story, but more about showcasing the subtle gameplay changes that take a note from other modern stealth games. Cardboard boxes and rations are no more, replaced with a regenerating health bar and a more action oriented focus, including the ability to commandeer multiple vehicles, while still offering the option of CQC and stealth.

I will speculate that picking up Ground Zeroes will offer some sort of perk if there's some existing save data once Phantom Pain comes out, but will note that this title will definitely be more appealing if you're a fan of the series rather than a newcomer looking to get a first taste.

Yoji Shinkawa and Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim Collaboration

(Via)
Well folks, the Holy Grail of Pacific Rim swag is upon us, the only issue is there isn't a confirmation on whether this beauty will ever hit the printer. In celebration for Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Pacific Rim (aka: badass Kaiju action), famed Metal Gear Solid artist, Yoji Shinkawa (Also known for the mechs in Zone of the Enders) has created this amazing piece for the movie's 3D release. While no announcement has been made as to where this limited edition piece will be made available, I'm already throwing a lot of money at the screen for one of these to show up at my house.

In case you missed it, Hideo Kojima is absolutely in love (literally) with Pacific Rim, which hasn't helped in terms of building up even more hype for the movie than I previously imagined. I'm having issues waiting for this Friday's release, but I'll make do until then, although I don't know how long I can go on living without having this poster in my home.

Update: Yoji Shinkawa's posters Pacific Rim will be offered to anyone attending opening night screenings of RealD 3D at Regal theaters while supplies last!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain E3 2013 Gameplay Trailer - A Brave New World

I personally couldn't be more excited about another new Metal Gear Solid title, with Kojima Productions unveiling a brand new gameplay trailer. Set in Afghanistan, the game features a true open world aspect, with a realistic weather system, multiple modes of transport, day and night cycles and a completely new take on the concept of tactical espionage. Featuring Master Miller and Ocelot joining the newly voiced 'Punished Snake' (Kiefer Sutherland instead of David Hayter), this game looks absolutely stunning, and a true evolution of the franchise.

The trailer also announces an all new cast of characters old and new: Kazuhira Miller, Quiet, Eli, Skull Face, Code Talker, Emmerich and more. Considering the setting, date and the look of a few of these soldiers, I wouldn't be surprised if the game takes place amidst the real life Soviet invasion of the country and the western backed insurgency that arose against it back in 1984, mixed with that signature Kojima fiction many have come to love. Snake is back!

HIdeo Kojima's "Rising" Trailer

Since the E3 demo I got my hands on last year, I've been waiting at the edge of my seat with anticipation for the official release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengence. The game is an absolute blast and anything that our lord and savior Hideo Kojima puts his hands on receives the King Midas treatment. Honestly though, it feels like it's been quite sometime since I've had the chance to play a truly original and fun AAA title, which Revengence fills with it's long sharp sword.

To celebrate the games launch, Kojima has edited this trailer himself to showcase the wild ride we're all in for. No doubt about it, this is the best trailer for the game to date and it's made even more excited to sink more time into the game. The game is out now and I highly suggest you pick it up, it's all around blast.
