Hyperbubble - "A Christmas Synthesizer"
Christmas might be over already (Sigh), but Ambar Navarro's awesome little stop motion video for Hyperbubble was just too catchy to pass up. Funky looking claymation, countless synth models and a retro synth christmas tune will make you want a synth for Christmas as well.

RoboGal's Cute Mixtape: The Christmas 2013 Edition!
![]() |
| Step 1: Decoration! Lights! Sparkle! (Via) |
Well it's only been a million and a half years (also known as 4 months), but I'm back with a new Cute Mixtape! It's Christmas Eve, which for us means some house cleaning, cooking, and prep work before the big dinner. And drinking. I probably should have put that first. Anyway, let this mixtape be a reminder of the steps you should be taking to ensure a proper Christmas.
Step 1 is above, and click through the break for the rest of my sage advice!

Lil Bub's Magical Yule Log
With the chilly weather and Christmas drawing ever nearer, a lot of us are left craving the physical and emotional warmth associated with fireplaces, which we aren't all that lucky to own. Turns out that in my house the previous owners decided to seal off the fireplace, which still baffles me to no end. However fear not, as a rather awesome, hour long digital alternative (One of many) starring the e-famous Li'l Bub purring away happily will provide you with a pretty decent alternative to the real thing. Happy holidays and all.

Blue Zoo's Xmas
The multi BAFTA award winning, London based animation studio Blue Zoo decided to get together and craft themselves a nice little Christmas themed short centered around a man with an appetite for ornaments and a decoration minded squirrel.
It seems to be a common trend for animation and VFX studios to sometimes put together seasonal videos as a nod to their fans and to showcase their personal work to potential clients. The art direction was really cool on this one, looks like they were going for capturing a visual look reminiscent of stop motion sets and a sculpted, chiseled look for the characters.

Tis The Season
Directed by Jens Blank & Anna Benner, Tis the Season is a seriously cute animated short presented in a style similar to Aardman's Create Comforts. A series of interviews with a variety of Christmas participants, ranging from reindeers to gifts, christmas trees and beyond. Love the 3D style they employed, they made it fit perfectly with the live action environments.
Hot off the presses, we'd like to share with you our latest short film, called Tis the Season.
It's an animated musing about what Santa and his friends are up to in their time off.
It's got pretty presents, grumpy reindeer and free-diving Christmas trees.

The Midnight Show - Christmas Orgy (NSFW)
Apologies in advanced. Navigating YouTube's subscription service has been a little more difficult than normal recently due to their wonderful makeover and I seemed to have missed The Midnight Show's newest Christmas themed skit. I must warn you, this is pretty damn NSFW, but I hoped seeing the word orgy in or around the title might have raise a few red flags for you guys. Either way, start your New Years off right with my favorite skit of 2013 thus far.

Alfred Skimmy Celebrates Christmas
The bizarre and uncomfortable Alfred Skimmy is back, and this time, he means Christmas. His Christmas is full of "midgets" (aka elves) and "rohndeer". You know, the usual. It's less than 2 minutes full of Mr. Skimmy's unnerving, cringeworthy voice and personality, and while I just want to turn it off, I just can't. There's just something some delightful about a non-sugary-sweet little weird man during the holidays.

Fester's Christmas Fiasco
It's Christmas Eve, a common time for people to meet their significant other's family for the first time. Sometimes it goes great, sometimes not so much. In the case of Fester the Fish, let's just say it doesn't go quite so swimmingly (yuk yuk yuk). The Fish family isn't unlike many other families, except they are talking fish. Who don't live underwater. And mingle with chubby Poseidon. Where was I going with this? Anyways, if you're in a similar position today, fear not and just enjoy the grub.

Happy Christmas! By Art & Graft
Creative collective Art&Graft just released their Christmas short, chronicling how quickly things can spiral out of control when the drink flows unchecked. The MIDI rendition of George Michael's 'classic' Last Christmas track took this to 11. Check out some of Art & Graft's internally produced intro videos after the break!

House Party Comedy Presents Christmas Eve
It's almost 4:00am in my part of the world right now, so it's technically no longer Christmas. But because I like to dictate the days by my sleep/wake schedule, it's still Christmas to me! So I feel okay squeezing in one last holiday post. And I couldn't do better than a slightly naughty claymation short. Mrs. Claus isn't tired of not getting her "stocking stuffed" by Santa, so she decides to drink the pain away, and stumble into some couples home. Come on, Santa, you give everyone else what they want; do the same for your wife.

Gundog : The Christmas Action Movie To End Them All
Gundog is the combination of just about every classic Christmas time action movie/police drama from the last few decades. Think Robocop plus Die Hard, blended together with a cute dog thrown in and just about every cop drama cliche imaginable. Its a hilariously random, heartwarming special about the powers of good toppling the forces attempting to destroy Christmas. Props to 39 Degrees North for creating a film that brought a few tears to our eyes.
Regular Ordinary Swedish Mealtime - Holiday Edition
Nothing like a beautiful, quaint little dinner to celebrate Christmas. Yeah, well toss that idea out the window, because the dudes at Swedish Mealtime have another idea in mind. The European counterparts to Epic Mealtime put their own little 'ordinary' spin on the holiday feast. Why? Because f**k you, that's why. EAT UP, B*TCHES.

Underground Gingerbread Men
Sometimes you really have to look past all of the holiday cheer and fluff. You need to get to the dark underbelly of the Christmas world. You think gingerbread men are just for decorating and eating? How wrong you are, my friends. Tucked far away from your sheltered world lies a culture drug use, and cock fighting. And only one red-suited, heat-packing man can f**k that s**t up...

Krampus
So we recently discovered Krampus, the absolutely horrifying Euro/Alpine demonic Santa companion created to strike petrifying fear into the hearts of unruly children. I heard that every December, people in Krampus outfits wander the streets to remind kids to be at their best behavior. Curious to see if anyone had filmed this bizarre event, I did a quick search on Youtube..And my god, its about a thousand times more terrifying than I could have ever imagined. I mean, seriously...I wasn't expecting the entire inventory from Stan Winston's FX studio to be out on parade at the same time. If I'd experienced this as a 5 year old I'd probably be scarred for life.

![]() |
| Nicolas Crowder would be proud! (Via) |
This year, Valve is bringing us the second of its WETA updates and the first update of it's second annual Australian Christmas updates. Makes sense? Keep up. What started with a comic bringing the true meaning of Australian Christmas ended with us seeing the first in the 12 days of updates, first being an awesome update making you give Valve more of your hard earned money. And don't forget that Team Fortress 2 is free to play, so go nuts!

Doctor Who: Christmas Prequel
It's that time of year! Christmas decorations, putting up with family members and TV show specials on the television. This year there is one I'm particually excited for, and Who knows what could happen? This awesome prequel to the actual special, written by Steven Moffat and starring Matt Smith leads into this years special which has the Doctor in the ultimate adventure. Set during World War II with a family of Blitz refugees, Madge Arwell and her two children, Lily and Cyril who happen to find the house the Doctor is staying in.
The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe is a Doctor Who 'adaptation' of the Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe and will feature Claire Skinner, Bill Bailey, Arabella Weir and Alexander Armstrong. If the prequel is anything to go by, we can expect aliens and explosions. What more would you want on a British Christmas day?

Improv Everywhere: Mall Musical
Flash Mob videos are something that make me instantly smile. I have yet to encounter one in person (boo), but I hope to at least once. Hell, maybe I should try to find a local one, and join? Hmm... Theatrical endeavors aside, the group Improv Everywhere have recently debuted their Christmas-themed bit, Mall Santa. Because, you know, you're never too old to sit on Santa's lap.
