Eclectic Method - A Brief History Of Sampling

Eclectic Method offers us a chronicle of noteworthy samples that have inexplicably been used by multiple artists over the years. Riffs that ended up layered into the background of dozens of different hit tracks used as a solid, oddly familiar foundation that you wouldn't notice unless it was explicitly pointed out via videos like this.

A video remix journey through the history of sampling taking in some of the most noted breaks and riffs of the decades. A chronological journey from the Beatles’ use of the Mellotron in the 60s to the sample dense hiphop and dance music of the 80s and 90s. Each break is represented by a vibrating vinyl soundwave exploding into various tracks that sampled it, each re-use another chapter in the modern narrative.

Eclectic Method - "Robocop"

Whether we like it or not, Robocop is getting the reboot treatment and is set to be release next month; The first major production by fledgling director José Padilha, it's set to either do well or fail miserably. The fact that it's getting a February release is a little disconcerting, as most movies from the 'wild west' January-March period are typically Hollywood's high risk or low budget leftovers. Nonetheless, Eclectic Method treated us to a fine Robocop flavored remix featuring cut together from the 1987 classic to mark his reincarnation.

Robocop is getting rebooted, directed by José Padilha with Gary Oldman, Samuel L Jackson and Michael Keaton. But remember the original that predicted a future in which the justice system was run by corporations and Detroit was nearing collapse? Well to jog your memory Eclectic Method has spliced it down and jumbled it up into a robostep video noise trac.

Eclectic Method - The Future

Hey you, come a little closer. I want to tell you something about the future. It will either be: A mind-bendingly awesome; utopian landscape where all of Earth's problems have been resolved and technology and humanity have evolved to create harmony.

Or it might be a f***ed-up dystopian nightmare. Where artificial intelligence has surpassed that of it's creators. Or perhaps humans have ravaged the Earth to such a degree that it has gone into full revolt. Or A scarcity of resources has humans warring over water. It depends on which film you watch or what time of day you might have asked Stanley Kubrick's opinion.

Eclectic Method has supercut some of our favorite scenes from movies that turn a predictive eye to the future. Blade Runner's Megacities alongside A.I.'s flooded New York and Idiocracy's run down shanty towns. Some technology predictions in these films have already proven to be accurate and some are still a ways off - or not! ... cameras on every corner, oil shortages, massive cultural uprisings in the middle east, retinal scans, X-Rays, flying cars and hoverboards, hybrid humans, robots, A.I., teleportation and so on. Who really watches Sci-Fi for the plot anyway, you wanna see the goodness condensed.

Rest assured though, in the future, as in the present, there will be both Coke and Pepsi!

Eclectic Method - Fight Dub

The first rule of Fight Dub is to tell everyone about Fight Dub. Eclectic Method returns with this brilliantly edited multi-genre brawl, featuring characters from different movies reaching into each other's businesses. In the wonderful world of Fight Dub, scenes like Indiana Jones and Happy Gilmore duking it out, James Bond entering the gypsy fight world of Snatch, and Bruce Lee drop kicking Bruce Willis across a room are commonplace. Get the Fight Dub track over on EM's Soundcloud! No pandas were harmed during the making of this film.

Eclectic Method's Enter The Dragon Remix

Eclectic Method returns yet again, with their newest and most excellent Bruce Lee flavored mashup paying tribute to everyone's favorite high pitched Jeet Kune Do master. Chuck Norris is thankfully nowhere to be seen during the duration of this video.
