Ghost in the Shell ARISE Border: 2 Gets New Trailer

The second of four OVA's for the Ghost in the Shell prequel gets it's first trailer, offering us a glimpse at the new cryptic case that Mokoto and her crew will be dealing with. This 50 minute episode (Which will be released theatrically in Japan) will cover how the entire team comes to know each other while each investigating a mysterious criminal element know as 'the man with the eye that does not sleep,' with their own divisions.

Even though it's not subtitled, the trailer gives off a good impression in regards to the top notch, yet grounded animation style. Thematically I'm hoping that this storyline might draw parallels in regards to the Laughing Man saga (My fave). It's set to debut in November 20 in theaters, with no planned release date for US markets just yet. Stay tuned.

Ghost in the Shell Gets The FPS Treatment

(Via)
Earlier yesterday the first public trailer for Ghost in the Shell ARISE hit the web and with four fifty-minute episodes, it's certain to be quite a doozy (wow, that word pained me to type). As fans wait patiently to find out whether or not the new chief director, Kazuchika Kise will provide another amazing entry into the Ghost in the Shell universe, a second announcement will give them even more to chew on. During the Production I.G. presentation, South Korean developer, Nexon, announced it's work on an upcoming online FPS set in Masamune Shirow's universe. Whether or not this is actually good news is yet to be decided, but judging from Nexon's past work it could go either way.

I'll definitely be first to admit that I'm skeptical with Nexon, Ghost in the Shell is a tricky IP and I'm not quite sure Nexon will find the talent to do the series justice. With the half-assed F2P FPS Combat Arms it's hard to imagine this turning out well, but I'll hold my judgements. The game has been described to emphasize heavily on hacking and will allow players to customize their body, talk about vague.

Other than the fantastic concept art released, all we know is the game is set for an early 2014 release for Japan which means we'll most likely see this title localized never. For a few more pieces from the games announcement hit the jump, the art is definitely fantastic.

Attack On Titan Gets The Anime Treatment

I'd been wondering lately what the folks at Production I.G. (Ghost In The Shell, Patlabor, End Of Evangelion) had been working on as of late, considering that the anime studio had been relatively quiet since 2009's thriller series, Eden Of The East. Yet to my surprise we received a tip this morning about the debut trailer for their exciting new project based off of Hajime Isayama's renown manga, 'Attack On Titan' (進撃の巨人 Shingeki no Kyojin).

The manga, which takes place in a world where humans are reduced to living in fortresses due to the sudden, mysterious appearance of Titans, humanoid entities seemingly devoid of motives that seek to devour humans. I coincidentally had a chance to read a few chapters just a few weeks back, and was engrossed by the quest of the protagonists to find the true meaning behind the appearance of these monstrous creatures. With some stellar looking animation and I.G.'s track record, this will definitely be an anime worth checking out in 2013.

Masaaki Yuasa's "Kick-Heart" Kickstarter

Don't want to read and just wanna donate? Kickstarter is right over here.
It's not everyday you can say you directly funded a Production I.G. animation, but sometimes things just fall into place. It seems like everyone is turning to Kickstarter nowadays (and for good reason), but I'm still a bit surprised to see Production I.G. (Ghost In The Shell, End of Evangelion, FLCL) and Masaaki Yuasa (Genius Party, Cat Soup, Mind Game) turn to it for help on their next short. The short is an awesome looking love story between two pro wrestlers, similar to the story of Romeo & Juliet (minus the pro wrestling part, obviously). The animation looks absolutely amazing, especially for being in such an early state, I can't even imagine what the final product will be.

Check out the short video bellow and quickly step over here to donate all your money.
