The Colorful Art Of Mintchoco

(Via)
Mintchoco's colorful work literally bursts off the page, with some really cool saturation usage that strangely enough doesn't overwhelm the rest of her images. Inspired by some truly interesting illustrators, including Dutch children's illustrator Dick Bruna (Best known for Miffy) and pop artist Keith Haring, you can see where she gleaned bits and pieces of her style from.

With a nice mixture of original art and fanart from franchises including Metroid, The Powerpuff Girls and Pokemon, her vibrant, summery gallery of work is truly satisfying to check out. More of Mintchoco's pieces after the break.

The Vibrant Art Of Hyamei

(Via
Simple yet bold and vibrant, Hyamei's (Abigail L. Dela Cruz) art style is a great example of accomplishing more with less. Broad brush strokes with rich color palettes make up the majority of her work, with a distinct emphasis on large forms rather than getting overly detailed and bogged down by minutia.

While we initially discovered her as part of a Sailor Moon themed art gallery project called Moon Crisis, we tracked her work back to her gallery and found some truly cool personal art. Her main character of choice seems to center around a mischievous fox spirit who enjoys playing with the moon, and she's created an entire series of images around this protagonist to add a really cool pseudo-narrative. As well as original pieces, she also dabbles in plenty of fanart and tribute pieces to her favorite shows and characters from various franchises. Check out more of her work after the break!

The Art Of Fabien Mense

(Via)
I'm getting close to resuming my French language education, I really think I am. Every time I get a glimpse into the burgeoning bande-dessinee scene I'm left knowing that most of these amazing original series will never make the jump overseas, and it absolutely kills me. If you guys have been following AwesomeRobo long enough you've probably noticed that some of the best animation work is currently emerging from French schools including Les Gobelins and Supinfocom..What's the deal?

During a random trip to Paris a few years back I discovered some surprising parallels between the Japanese and French art scenes in regards to how they treated their creators, and an overall feeling of a cultural acceptance in regards to pursuing this craft as a career. For some reason I'm left wondering whether societal attitudes have simply allowed creatives to feel unhindered in that particular country, resulting in some truly amazing, out of the box work time and time again. And this is not from a fanboy's perspective, it's simply a trend and opinion formed after following a few years of curating content.

Fabien Mense is the second artist we've featured from the Catfish Deluxe collective (Our first being Gobi). Hailing from a small town called Ozoir-la-Ferreire he studied animation at the Arts Decoratifs de Strasbourg college, where he came to meet the friends who would form the collective he is part of today. Employing a truly vibrant, colorful style and exagerrated design aesthetic, he's worked on everything from comics to contributing designs for feature films like Tartavosky's recent Hotel Transylvania feature. More of his work after the break!

The Art Of Frank Lin

(Via)
Frank Lin's work is just great..A breath of fresh air in more ways than one with his unconventional visual style. We're used to browsing tons of art and illustration work on a daily basis, and at times it does all start to gel together, especially when people don't stick to their guns and simply start following trends. For example- at the moment there's a huge trend in the concept art field to simply photobash everything together with little painting at all..It makes sense for an experienced artist ina production environment, but to the swathes of naive, aspiring concept artists without a proper art foundation- it's a dangerous mistress to say the least.

Tangent aside, I was drawn in by Frank's style, which is definitely catered to the storybook illustration niche. There's a ton of playful experimentation here, ranging from working with textures and patterns, experimenting with different degrees of painterly to flat areas, and straight out fun work like the eye popping Luchabros illustration pictured above. Check out more of his awesome work after the break.

The Art Of Xaxa : Dofus, Wakfu and Beyond!

Wakfu! (Via)
I haven't had a chance to play either Dofus or Wakfu just yet, but in an artistic sense the games left a really great impression. The turn based MMO series (Think Final Fantasy tactics online) first caught my attention during a trip to Paris, where I witnessed a ton of colorful promo work plastered around the city for Ankama's flagship title. While its not well known here in the US, the game has attracted over 11 milliion players worldwide. Fast forward a few years later and I had the chance to meet the Ankama folks at PAX, and noticed that they were selling art books for their heavily stylized series which I picked up. Despite there being a stable of artists working on the title, it appears that an artist called Xavier Houssein (Aka XAXA) was the main man behind the distinct style of the game.

His style could be best described as a very successful hybrid, mixing elements of bande dessinee, anime and a few other styles mixed with extremely vibrant, harmonious color palettes that just pop off the page. Xavier's characters are always fluidly drawn and animated in their poses, capturing their essence in a fun manner. The result is nothing short of pleasing to the eye, especially on a cloudy day. Ankama's franchise has celebrated a great deal of success worldwide, spinning off into TV shows, comic books and even an upcoming 2013 movie adaptation. Check out some more of Xavier's awesome work after the break, with a mild heads up for some risque images (He sure loves his females).

The Art Of Pavel

(Via)
Pavel is an amazing concept artist I stumbled into recently, specializing in visual development for videogames. He's had the chance to work on titles including Bioshock and the in development Xcom at 2k Australia, and specializes in vibrant environmental work. I really love how he pushes his colors, and only paints just enough visual information to make things readable. Check out 4 more pieces from Pavel after the break!
