The Darkest Hour Trailer Puts A New Spin On Invasion Flicks

Seems like invasion flicks have been a dime a dozen as of late (Skyline, Battle: LA, etc.)..but this take on the alien invasion flick seems to be trying to freshen things up with the addition of an exotic setting(Moscow), an invisible enemy that is trying to suck the earths energy reserves dry, and people waaaay out of their element. Looks like it could be a fun movie, although I'm not completely convinced as to why the aliens would decide to use lassos if they seem to be capable of disintegrating people in the blink of an eye. Also, why not cast a Russian actor or two instead of having the entire population simply be brainless fodder? Is the military that helpless? Seems like the usual Hollywood logic is at work here.

Move Over Headcrabs

Did you know there are crabs lurking underwater at depths of over 2,500 feet that can live up to 100 years with ten legs?  If we ever colonize underwater, the Japanese snow crab will be waiting to destroy us. 

The image you saw above was of a midsize snow crab, yes...a  medium sized crab.  A real deal matured one would be able to straddle your damn car and rip your head off.  Fear the crab.
