Pterois
Created by motion designer Neekoe as a chance to get out of his comfort zone and attempt something new, Pterois is a purely visual piece showing off some truly amazing work with layering materials on a robotic specimen of a Spotfin Lionfish (Pterosis antennata). While swimming through the murky depths, it's surface evolves into a series of intricate, moving patterns before resetting to nothing.
The making of Pterois is a really insightful, well documented look at every stage of the process of creating the short, including the initial inspiration, reference, gathering, modeling, rigging, dynamic and material research and more. Check it out for a step by step look at the incredible amount of work that went into creating this beautiful one minute short after the break.
