Fighting Spirits

Kind of like a demented version of Black Swan, Gene Kim's awesome new animated short features two competitive ballerinas simultaneously auditioning for a futuristic opera, before resorting to some rather surprising techniques to best the other. The short's animation and humor reminded me of the style employed by shows like Titmouse's Metalocalypse, complete with the signature outros that ended each episode of that series.

Some notes from animator Gene Kim:
'I drew everything in the film, which amounts to 5,000+ drawings. My undergraduate thesis film in animation at NYU Tisch. I started this project a year before Black Swan came out - strange how that happens. I still haven't seen it.'
