Dragon's Crown Gets Atlus' Blessing And A Release Date

Vanillaware's Atlas published ode to the old side scrolling fantasy beat em'up just recently received a new trailer, and a US release date to boot. Set to be released on the PS3 and Vita simultaneously on August 6th, 2013, the creators of games including Odin's Sphere and Muramasa: The Demon Blade will be bringing us another beautifully art directed entry with a call back to a once forgotten genre.

If you missed our initial coverage/concept art feature, check it out over here. The game hasn't received much press due to the fact that their previous publisher (Ignition) mishandling the project, but Atlus stepped in and picked the project up. The music and gameplay takes me back to the good old days of RPG's, an era in which Square had nothing to do with Enix, and games were still grounded in established genres, unlike the fantasy/scifi/fashion hybridization that's been prevalent as of late. Given the developers track record, I think Dragon's Crown will be yet another solid for Vanillaware's excellent track record. Stay tuned for more updates.
