One thing that we would NEVER expect.... |
What we Know:
-Setting: Whilst we don't know where the game will be set, we can rule out where it won't be set. Rumours were circulating about a game set during Soviet Russia, but the current DC Comics series is dealing with that particular Assassin. Rumours also shot down by producers include Egypt and World War II. That really narrows the setting, and we can assume it can take place...........at some other point in the vast void of history.
-Story: Patrice Désilets, former series' creative director, commented on the story of Assassin's Creed III, saying that it will focus on Assassins' quest to prevent the end of the world in 2012 and their race against time to find temples built by "those who came before". Desmond would have to search for clues on locations of these temples by exploring memories of his other ancestors. Whilst this is where the direction of the series was hinting at, we know that we will also be playing within an Animus type Setting. Will we be playing Multiple Characters? Or one character exploring the world?
-No Ezio: Ezio's story continues in Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy for the 3DS, which has Ezio travel East to find the lost castle of Masyaf (The Castle from the original game) to find out more about the origins of his order. Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will introduce a new character in an entirely new setting, so whilst we haven't seen the last of Italian's version Jack the Lad, we have seen the last of him as part of the main series. It's been fun Ezio, but I guess it's time for us to see different people.
What We Can Assume:
-Subject 16: If you too have been completing every single little puzzle, you've seen the revelation of Subject 16, and the hint that we must go to Eden to find a woman named Eve and "find [him]...in the darkness." Will we see any more of Subject 16? We can assume he has a few more pieces of wisdom from this Obi-Wan type figure.
-Desmond: At the end of the second game, we got warnings of the fate of the modern world and how only Desmond can prevent it. In Brotherhood, we saw him posessed by Juno, stab Lucy in the abdomen and heard him being hooked up to the Animus by two unnamed Men. Has Desmond and the Apple fallen back into the hands of the Abstergo, or is he still in the with the Assassins? We don't know, but it's safe to assume that Desmond will be OK, and will carry on his mission to save a dying world, and will be be a large and important part of the puzzle.
What We Don't Know:
-Setting: Whilst we know where the setting WON'T be set, the question remains; where will be playing? Personally, I would have liked an Ancient China or an Egyptian setting, but the hints indicate that we will have multiple memories. Or will Desmond have a larger role in the game?
-The First Civiliz
ation: We know very little about the driving force behind the game, apart from they came before us, had amazing powers and used humans like slaves using the pieces of Eden. We know that the humans had something to do with the destruction of those Those Who Came Before, but who are they? Why do they have God like powers? How did they create the Pieces of Eden? How did they die? Are they, in-fact, Dead? Who are Adam and Eve? Why do they want to save us if we destroyed them? How do they know the fate of the future, and what prevented them from saving themselves? How did they manage to build an entire secret base beneath the Vatican? So many questions, so little answers. It's like Lost in here.
-Fate of Lucy: Lucy got stabbed in the neck by a Possessed Desmond at the end of Brotherhood. Will she survive, or has Kristen Bell's contract run out?
-Conclusion: Will the third entry be the last in the series, or only the end of the current Trilogy? Will we discover the fate ? Patrice Désilets said that the series has always been planned as a trilogy, but Sébastien Puel from Ubisoft said that "[...] we could do 35 of these [Assassin's Creed games]". We can assume that all the arcs introduced will be concluded within this final chapter or will we see a whole bunch of sequels carrying on a new storyline, or a series of games just dealing with the Assassins from the Past?
So there you have it, what we know, what we don't know and some food for though. But most important is your opinion. What do you think? What do you want to see in both the third game and future of the series? Comment, or discuss it on the forums!
Wouldn't Brotherhood technically be 3, making this 4?
