Chasm: Metroidvania Filled Goodness

Fresh out of GDC comes this fantastic trailer for the upcoming title, Chasm. Filled to the brim with Metroidvania style action, this game was destined to hit my list of titles to watch out for. Set for Windows, Mac and Linux, Chasm is a 2D hack n' slash platformer with a twist, following the recent trend in procedurally generated content. Chasm is definitely looking like an incredibly solid title especially if you're like me who's been relatively hard-pressed to find a game with solid replay value.

While the game isn't due til early 2014, there's still no reason for you to not support it early on. If you head over to the game's Steam Greelight page, you can vote for the title to get a little extra publicity and give it the chance to hit the Steam marketplace when it releases. This and next year are already looking fantastic for games especially for the indies, I can't say I'm not excited.

BROM

I bet you've seen this face before. (Via)
If someone was defining fantasy art on the 90's, that someone definitely shared a workplace with Gerald Brom. I dare to say, he's one of the fathers of the fantasy overall look of the 90's ( especially the late 90's, with Todd Lockwood sharing parenthood).

His work was everywhere, trading card games, computer games, magazines, role playing games, fantasy books, etc. I mostly recall the Magic cards he drew, I wasn't  that much into TC games, but whenever I found something illustrated by him, I tried to draw it, or took it to a xerox and oversized it. Very grim characters, bone white skins, stark contrast and full bleed blacks were his trademarks.

I consider Brom really close to, well, obviously Frank Frazzeta, for the body types, posing and composition of his characters, and Beksinski for the color and hazy gloomy atmospheres he bring into the images ( Brom recognizes Frazzeta as an early influence on his style).

For more information on his work and bios visit his homepage. extended bio, and of course, more images, after the break, enjoy!.

Dare To Fight?!

This awesome piece of public improv comes courtesy of Toronto Improv...The premise is pretty simple: A guy dressed up in ninja garb stands out in public, with a challenge sign to fight him with a foam sword. The second a bystander picks it up, dozens of backup ninjas swarm the unsuspecting victim. That last guy came in so confident, and never saw it coming.

Minecraft Mobile Is A Reality!

We all love Minecraft on this site, but I wanted to carry it around, play it on the bus and onthe way to work. But until now that was a dream.
Not any more. Minecraft Mobile is a reality!

Minecraft is the indie-developed block-building game that’s taken the PC and Mac gaming world by storm. A “sandbox” game which lets you build whatever you can think of out of textured cubes, Minecraft is finally making its way to the mobile device market. But you'll be surprised on what device it has been announced for.

An awesome image by Polish photographer Marcin Kalinski. It does a great job describing how we're feeling about the blog's progress over the last few months. Couldn't have done it without you guys. We've just surpassed 777,777 views today and are looking forward to our first million views in just 2-3 months! We never expected things to go this fast.

Jackpot!
