Worth Checking Out - Samurai Gunn

Samurai Gunn is a fast paced arcade fighting game based around three simple actions: Jump, Shoot, and Slash. It’s simplicity can be deceiving as you start to learn the nuances of traversal, mixing in wall jumping with quick dashes, enabled by precisely timed attacks during the start or end of airtime. There are over a dozen arenas to do battle in, each with their own flavor or gimmick, adding to the replayability of the title as you discover and migrate to new favorites periodically. My favorite in particular is a flat play area that gradually opens up to a floor of spikes as players rack up their kills, turning a harmless arena into a dangerous pit of death.

This game is the epitome of 'screenshots don't do it justice.'
The game is limited to local play and fares best with a couple friends nearby, though it does feature a single player survival mode if you wish to brush up on your skills before taking on real foes once more. Considering that the similarly styled Towerfall has yet to make the jump from the Ouya, let this game tide you over in the meanwhile. The game is available on Steam for $15, and will be making the jump to the Vita and PS4 sometime in 2014.

Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine Is Out Now On Steam!

It's been a long time coming, but Monaco: What's Yours Is Mine is finally out on Steam. Originally slated for a dual release on PC and XBLA, it looks like the XBLA game has been delayed but that's not stopping you from picking it up on PC right now!

If you're feeling charitable and have a bit of extra cash floating around, I suggest picking up the 4-pack for yourself and three friends. The co-op is an absolute blast and it's definitely something you're not going to want to skip over.

Valve's Source Filmmaker - An Introduction

As the 'Meet The Pyro' short proved, they are really upping their game in video production. Now anyone can produce high quality shorts with the release of 'The Source Filmmaker,' which might just end up killing what people have been using for years now, Gmod.

The Source Filmmaker (SFM) is the movie-making tool built and used by Valve to make movies inside the Source game engine. 'Meet the Pyro' and the other Meet The Team shorts were filmed and edited inside this amazing little program. According to the Official Site the Source Film Maker uses the same assets as the game, which means anything that users will be able to create the same high fidelity shorts as Valve. Its not quite out just yet, but you can sign up for the possibility of a beta key. I'm pretty excited to not only give it a go but to see what kind of movies will be produced by the fan communities. Can you stop being awesome Valve?

Dear Esther

When simple shooter engines are elevated to the point of a medium for delivering a beautiful, thoughtful narrative, you get a game like Dear Esther. Aside from looking absolutely incredible for using such a dated engine, its already garnered 4 IGF nominations and an 8/10 review from EDGE magazine. One cool thing to note is that the developers made it so that no two playthroughs would be the same, with a randomization feature built in to make every experience unique. This indie gem will be available on Steam on February 14th.

Team Fortress 2's Scream Fortress 2011 Event Is Upon Us

Tales Of The Rocket Launcher! Beware the Bombonomicon. (Via)
I just can't get enough of Team Fortress 2 and the multitude of events that Valve uses to keep the game engaging. I've been playing it on and off on Steam since 2009, and I typically find myself drawn back into playing it heavily around the time events like these unfurl.

Each year the game has a Halloween event which is chock full of one of a kind items, and unique events like boss battles. This year, after 2 years of the HHH (Horseless Headless Horsemann) we have a new monster, unique maps and a plethora of new items to look forward to. Well, whilst waiting for this halloween event why not give this comic a read (Through the Via link)? Or you could download TF2 (if you haven't already) considering it's free....

I'll be playing if you fancy a game...
