Swoosh Art - Fine Art And Branding Collide

(Via)
We featured Davide Bedoni just yesterday for his directorial work on a rather striking ad campaign for fashion brand Furla, but upon digging a little deeper into his other projects I found a pretty amusing Tumblr that he's been running called 'Swoosh art.' The concept revolves around appropriating traditional masterpieces and applying the modern Nike branding to it, like on William-Adolphe Bouguereau's Dante and Virgil in Inferno above.

To Bedoni it seems like it might be an actual pitch for a possible advertising concept, meant to elevate the brand's image by using the timeless nature of such paintings. This type of concept has worked before for brands like Absolut, which over the years have collaborated with countless artists over the years. Whether this gels with a clothing company, I'm still a little on the fence about, but it's pretty humorous nonetheless. Check out more SwooshArt examples after the break, and head over to the Tumblr for a staggering amount more.
