Dissimilated Vision

Katayama Takuto's Dissimilated Vision is a great example of straight ahead animation, a form of animating in which the animator starts the first drawing in a scene and continues with all subsequent frames until he reaches the end. The result is a highly spontaneous, ever changing, fluid series of scenes compared to say, pose to pose animation which requires some pre-planning. This somewhat abstract short is less about the characters though, and more about transformation and evolution, highlighted by a delicate piano score. Without an attempt at a clear narrative, this piece is definitely left open for interpretation.
