ANIMATED GIFS: THE BIRTH

PBS Off Book takes a look at the resurgence of gifs as a popular internet medium, and as an art form. For all its worth, the minidoc offers a great interview with Kevin Burg and Jamie Beck, who jump started the Cinemagraph craze and showcased the power of gifs as a high art medium with their 'Fleeting Moments' series that we featured a while back. There is some very interesting information about the origins of the gif and their evolution, but I found myself wanting to punch the gif hipster through my screen who kept claiming it was pronounced 'JIFF.' No sir, its not.
