Mega64, our favorite purveyors of comedy just released this video which makes a good point about Nintendo's practices. If you think about it, every time Nintendo has released a new piece of hardware they have always left their previous generation for dead.

A new handheld system with the power of the Wii? So much for that. As a user we were talking regarding the subject on Twitter(PurpleXirGG) said, "It's all about planned obsolescence, it rakes in a lot more money that way." I remember being bitterly disappointed when Nintendo decided to give a big f*** you to the Gameboy Advance cartridge slot in the DSi upgrade.
It just begs the question, how many generations of the 3ds are we going to have to deal with? With the current proposed 3-5 hour life, I wouldn't be surprised if they're holding back with better batteries that will appear in 2011. It seems like Nintendo has learned from the likes of Apple, with the brand loyalty approach.
