This Is The End - Red Band Trailer

Despite all the annoying speculation, the world will not be ending tomorrow. That's a fact and if it does you can hold it against me. But in "honor" of the mass panic currently going on I thought I would show you the newly released Red-Band trailer for one of the funner movie projects coming out next year: This Is The End.

The film is the directorial debut of frequent collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who co-wrote Superbad, Pineapple Express and more. The film takes a rather meta approach with its cast, with actors playing themselves going to a party at James Franco‘s house, only to find themselves at end of days. Not sold yet? The cast includes Seth Rogen, Franco, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Aziz Ansari, Rihanna, Paul Rudd, Danny McBride, Emma Watson, Michael Cera, David Krumholtz, Martin Starr, Mindy Kaling, Craig Robinson and others. It would take a team of idiots to screw it up and the pair have proven themselves worthy before, so let's hope this turns out as good as it looks.

Ted: The Red-band Trailer

I'm a huge Family Guy fan, I've spent countless hours watching episodes over and over on TBS, Cartoon Network, Netflix, etc. I've seen most of the episodes several times over, and it just doesn't get old to me. That is, up until a few seasons ago. I'm not sure what happened, but the newer stuff just wasn't doing it for me anymore and its been on a steady decline. Same goes for American Dad, which I never got into as well as the countless awful spinoffs which aren't really worth mentioning. Seth MacFarlane is making his first foray into films, with his teddy bear comes to life story, Ted.

Based on the recently released red-band trailer, the style and humor is very notably MacFarlane-esque. The two main characters (one played by Mark Wahlberg, the other voiced by MacFarlane) seem to have a Peter/Brian relationship going on. I didn't finish the trailer thinking, "OMG, I can't wait!", but I quietly chuckled at least once or twice. The US release is July 13, 2012, so it seems like it could be a brainless summer entry. Nothing out of this world perhaps, but worth a few guilty laughs.

The Devil Inside: Redband Trailer (NSFW)

Its been a while since we've had a good old exorcism movie, and this redband trailer has me pretty sold on the Devil Inside. The premise of the movie revolves around a woman trying to find out what caused her mother to murder three people during her own exorcism 20 years earlier. After hiring two exorcists to cure her mom using unconventional methods, she gets a first hand account of the powers of some truly dark, disturbing forces possessing her. "Many have been possessed by one; only one has been possessed by many."

The trailer mentions that its based on a true story, but I'd take that with a massive grain of salt (The Fourth Kind was revealed as a hoax) as using 'based on a true story' has become a staple of misleading marketing in Hollywood. The trailer is pretty promising, so lets hope we get a decent horror movie that doesn't rely on cheap startle moments to get its point across. The movie comes out on January 6.
