Nonotak Studios' Daydream V.02

This awesome installation by the Nonotak Studio collective (Comprised of Noemi Schipfer and Takami Nakamoto) called Daydream was shown off at the Insanitus art and music festival in Lithuania held earlier last month.

The mesmerizing experience that the installation centers around momentarily detaching visitors from reality via the usage of some truly mesmerizing projection work amplified by glass panels and an effective ambient score. The synchronized marriage of sound to the abstract spaces created by the light definitely looks like it would be an engrossing experience.

Explore Your Dual World

As part of a promotion for a new Samsung Galaxy phone with dual SIM cards, the company put together this project to explore the concept of duality. This is probably the first time we've seen 3D projection mapping techniques (Typically seen on environmental projects) used on a human subject this extensively, and the results are pretty damn impressive.

Claudio Giambusso's Brujos

I have seen pieces like this projected on solid walls, such as 600 Years by The Macula, but projecting onto an organic surface is something on an entirely different level. The way Claudio Giambusso animated this piece gives an extremely eerie, yet natural vibe that can only be described as beautiful. Creating a tree on a tree is so incredibly meta that I can't help but fall in love with this.

Decoration Projection

Welcome to the world of Mr. Beam, where building façades and interiors are fair game for alterations on a whim. The talented duo behind the project above hail from the Netherlands and have created works for respected organizations across Europe. They collaborate to create stunning audio/visual pieces involving projectors and architectural space. In this video, Mr. Beam transports the projection mapping technique inside to infuse a drab all-white room with color, pattern and style. 

The result is impressive to say the least. It is by no means a revolutionary technology or technique, and has been demonstrated many times before by other artists (even in stunning, fluid 3D). What tickles my fancy is how "Living Room" speaks to my inner Sims obsession; the idea of instantly redesigning a living space gets me salivating like Pavlov's dogs. It's a futurist concept that could potentially lead to advancements in interior design and furnishing. Of course, projectors are likely to be supplanted by something else, perhaps a programmable OLED fabric. Conventional application of interior projection could also be used in tandem with theater productions or film sets. Whatever the case, I'm thrilled at the possibilities.
