J.J. Abrams Unleashes The First Trailer For Star Wars: The Force Awakens; Internet Collectively Loses Its Shit

What can be said about Star Wars that hasn't been already? The 1977 classic, the monumental 1980 follow-up, the critically-lackluster but commercially triumphant early-aught prequels. The action-figures, video-games, theme park dance recitals and art installations; all culminating into the definitive sci-fi space opera epic of the past 50 years. After nine long years, we finally have our first look at the first proper sequel to the pop-cultural juggernaut; Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.

Details surrounding the sequel are understandably scant and under ludicrously tight lock and key, but there are whispers on the winds and rumors in the taverns. Set 30 years after the fall of Emperor Palpatine and the redemption of Darth Vader, Force Awakens follows three intrepid youths aided and mentored by the likes of Han Solo and Luke and Leia Skywalker as they confront an awesome and terrible new power in the Galaxy.

And a new enemy rises...

I'm not ashamed to admit that I had an involuntary fan-boy fit when John Boyega popped up on the screen (I love Attack the Block) and Daisy Ridley riding that land-speeder across the dunes of Tatooine got my heart racing. Tie-Fighters, The Millennium Falcon, and of course what would a new Star Wars installment be without a ridiculous new light-saber design? Premature as this assessment might be, but I think J.J. Abrams might actually nail this one out of the park. December 2015 is so far far away now it's cruel.

Almost Human Trailer - Robots, Cops And More

J.J. Abrams has definitely kept himself busy in recent times, juggling responsibilities directing and producing properties including Fringe, Revolution, Star Trek, the upcoming Star Wars reboot and more. His latest pilot project is Almost Human, a rather refreshing looking TV show created by J.H. Wyman (Fringe) via Bad Robot Productions with Abrams on board as an executive producer.

The series is set 35 years in the future and follows the story of cop/robot hater John Kennex (Karl Urban) waking up from a coma only to find out that robotic partners are mandatory in 2048's equivalent of the LAPD. While dealing with a slew of personal issues and cyborg prosthetics as the result of the events that nearly killed him, Kennex has to learn to get along with his new 'synthetic' partner Dorian (Michael Ealy), an android outfitted with emotions. With it's high budget look and interesting premise, this might just be one of those shows to look forward to this year.

Star Trek : Into Darkness International Trailer

In between filming music videos for psychedelic bands and preproduction on Star Wars: Episode VII, JJ Abrams and Paramount are getting the wheels turning for the highly anticipated Star Trek : Into Darkness sequel, which looks like it'll offer a more cerebral, complex antagonist (Rumors point to him being a reboot of Khan) for the Enterprise crew to deal with. I've got a soft spot for calculating villains in movies.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
