Dead Space: Chasm To Death is Live Action Awesomeness

The original Dead Space is by far one of my favorite original IPs from this generation. Not only did it provide a sense of horror that I originally thought the Alien franchise could provide, but it also provided some of the best third-person action out of any title up to that point. While the series may have deviated a bit from it's roots, I still hold a lot of respect for what it did for the survival-horror genre in video games.

This bad ass live action short does a pretty damn good job at recreating the sense of fear that the original created while putting a few original twists into the picture. I actually found it super cool to be able to see Isaac's eyes through his helmet, it somehow created a new level of intensity that the original game did not. I'd love to see more love-action shorts of this caliber in the future, it gives a quick snippet of what a game would be like in movie form without going off on a two hour unnecessary tangent (*cough*Resident Evil*cough*).

Dead Space 3 Art Show Is A Visual Treat For Everyone

(Via)
Dead Space 3 has just been released in the US, but the game won't be released in Europe and across the world till Friday. We do, on the other hand, get one of the most interesting art shows in the most romantic city in the world, Paris.

The work will be displayed at the Dernier Bar on the 7th of February. Artists from all around the world have worked on a number of pieces influenced by the survival horror theme of the game, paying homage to a number of pop culture including a Mega Man like Sprite poster and, my personal favorite, an homage to John Carpenter's The Thing. If you fancy any of the pieces, they will be available in limited edition at the Dernier Bar during the exhibition, and then on the Geek-Art online store. If you can't make it, you can check out the work after the break!

The Dead Space 3 Concept Art Dump

(Via)
Dead Space 3 is coming. Will you be playing it? Following some rather controversial gaffes by EA regarding toning a series renown for it's stressful, pant-sh**ting moments down into more 'broad appeal' shooter, I think I might hold on to my memories of experiencing the first game alone in a dark room.

That aside, doesn't mean that the concept art team isn't busting their butts to create some true necro-horrors and settings worthy of the Dead Space franchise despite the new direction. We've sent our little robo minions to collect every single piece of concept art trickled out on the internet so far, including a bonus batch of rarely seen images from one of the unsung heroes who visually helped lay the groundwork for the entire franchise, Jason Courtney. Check it all out after the break, and then some!

Dead Space 2: Blockified

Prepare to get ripped to shreds. (Via)
A badass, and incredibly dynamic Dead Space 2 tribute piece by another talented Lego fanatic, Arkov. By using a little piping to prop up Isaac, he created a pretty amazing zero g battle between him and a Necromorph. Oh god, the money I'd pay for a Mature rated Lego Dead Space game...I guess we can dream. Check out another angle after the break!

The Last Launch

(Via)
The Atlantis was recently rolled out to its final launch point, Launch Pad 39 in anticipation of its final July 8th mission to deliver supplies to the International Space Station. Its kind of sad to think that this will be the last shuttle that the US will probably launch in a long time. The launch marks the end of the 30 year Space Shuttle Program, and a possible end to space travel effort from North America for a while. Whatever happened to all those ambitions of finding new, inhabitable planets? Guess we'll be focusing on that research from the ground for now.  Bummer.

Dead Space 2: Plasma Cutter for MORE MANLY MEN

A while ago, we posted about the Dead Space 2 special edition with the Plasma Cutter. The thing was pretty cool, but for some it was pretty wimpy. Some people wanted a more.....realistic version. Alas, like people do, someone modified it and has pimped his version up with lasers that can burst balloons. I love you, internets.
