Edgar Wright And The Art of Close-Ups

Slash Film created this really cool interview with Edgar Wright (Director of Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Hot Fuzz, The World's End ), which goes into his signature technique of using close ups in his various movies.

Edgar offers some really good insight as to his reasoning behind why he used close ups in fun, unorthodox manners to give his movies some memorable cinematographic flair. Some of his insight is stuff I never noticed, which really has me itching to dust off some DVD's and rewatch his body of work. Following having concluded the Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy, Mr. Wright is slated to direct the upcoming Marvel  Ant Man feature

Lego Shaun Of The Dead

You get red on the set... (Via)
Have you ever wondered what Edgar Wright would like like if his movies were made from Lego? This is the Winchester, the pub from his most quoted film Shaun Of The Dead, lovingly crafted in Lego.

Rather than sprout quotes from the film, I just would like to point how amazing this thing looks and how fast I would buy this if it became a set for sale. Lego should get on this, I hear Shaun is almost as famous as a certain underground book series...

Shaun Vs. The World

You have no idea how often I imagine Shaun of the Dead as Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, mostly because it hasn't crossed my mind before. Which, now that I think about it, surprises me. My obsessive nature towards all things Scott Pilgrim and Edgar Wright should have eventually led to this. Damn my creativity.

Alas, Philip Askins realized the potential first, so here I am writing about my missed opportunity. This awesome 60-second short shows us what would happened if Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead clashed with Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. Pretty great stuff!

The Vines' New Music Video Seems A Bit Familiar (In the best way possible)

Scott Pilgrim remains one of my all time favorite graphic novels/movies, so it should be no surprise why I'm enjoying this music video so much. The consistant homage to Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World fits so incredibly well with The Vines' garageband-esque rock that I'm almost surprised Beck was Edgar Wright's initial choice. Than again, I never imagined Sex Bob-Omb's Stephen Stills to have such a harsh Australian accent. The single, Gimme Love is one of 3 tracks that were previously performed by The Vines in June.

The band has continued to impress me, despite their subpar album, Melodia. Scott Pilgrim homages and this song are making me relatively excited for their fifth album, Future Primitive which is due out June 3rd. Although, that may be my immense amount of fanboy-ism kicking in.
