For the Tim Burton Exhibition at the Cinémathèque in Paris (March 7th - August 5th), animating student David Maingault put together this black and white animated short, called Harold. The theme is rather somber: A man is born, he lives a sad, boring life, then he kills himself. Throw in some reincarnation, and it's basically rinse and repeat. The feel is, at least to me, more David Lynch than Tim Burton. It's a bit creepy, a bit weird, and slightly uncomfortable. But for a 1 minute short, it's rather effective. Those big eyes will haunt me for the rest of the day. Well, at least the next hour or so.
