Natural Selection 2 : Time To Get Excited

If you've ever played Natural Selection, an incredibly high end Half Life mod thats still pretty popular now, you probably experienced an incredibly fun Alien vs Marine gameplay with a hybrid FPS/RTS style. One of the most distinct features of this game is that a commander was elected every round for either faction to play the game in RTS fashion, building resource nodes, defenses and upgrades for their respective team as well as issuing commands.  Due to the incredible success of the mod, Unknown Worlds set out a few years ago to create a commercial followup to the game, which edges ever closer to release. Of all the titles that Valve never picked up, I'm baffled as to why they never bought out the company following the original mod. Wait and see?

This new trailer shows off a slew of  new features, including their active creep system for the alien faction (Similar to how the Zerg's creep works) and incredible new graphics for both factions. If you haven't played it yet, you can get into the Steam beta and help them iron out bugs by preordering the game on their page for a measly $35. From what I can tell nobody will ever be able to pull off a proper Aliens licensed multiplayer experience, so why not get the closest thing money can buy? Check out the trailer for the original Natural Selection after the break!
