I like to believe that once upon a time, unicorns roamed this great Earth.  In my world, they were as beautiful and graceful as the fairy tales make them out to be.  But sadly, they are no more.  And perhaps this comic explains why.  Now to break the sad news to my esteemed co-editor, Unicorns Exist...

Lady Gaga: Born This Way

In what must be a never-ending stint in alienating as many people from her music as possible, Lady Gaga turns up the ridiculous another couple notches in her new music video for "Born This Way," the title song of her upcoming album. The video is a kaleidoscopic Dune-like orgy (sometimes literal) of maternal and vaginal imagery, proving that if anyone can take art house and inject it into pop music, it's her. She continues her proactive and empowering messages to outcasts and members of fringe society by owning her freakishness and embracing how completely bizarre her artistry is. In any case, this music video should definitely be seen, if only because it proves that even pop artists can have truly unique and original artistic visions. We should give strippers music contracts more often.

Also, there's a unicorn or two, which makes me giggle. Be wary, depending on your work's stance on birthing gelatin head molds, it may be slightly NSFW.

Ke$ha Video Is Hype

Every now and again, mainstream pop artists end up in a perfect artistic marriage with a music video director, delivering something a truly unforgettable and unique. Today, Ke$ha released a video for her song Blow, a whiskey-coated club track that does little to dissuade her trashy image. Director Chris Marrs Piliero (who has directed several videos for The Black Keys in the past) starts things off as a simple unicorn-filled, Lynchian take on the traditional hyper-sexualized pop genre, and it slowly transitions into something totally inspired.

Without spoiling much, the video hits the perfect balance of unicorns, lasers, rainbows, sketchy acting and James Van Der Beek. For the attention deficient among you, skip to 2:40, that's when things turn the hell up.
